Tony, I wish I could have been there when you heard your "rumors" of what to expect in Brazil! i am in my 60"s and have been going to Brazil since I was 10 when my late father remarried to a Brazilian. Before I get started, just to let you know I have been through Sao Paulo airport numerous times and their is a hotel on the 2nd floor where you can actually stay with a bed etc. for a few hours, so you could have gone there until time for your Air B n B to be ready. So, I really just discovered these walking videos and came across yours. Now unfortunately I used to live in MD. 40 minutes from the January 6th. Insurrection and now I live in Brazil and spent considerable time in Rio when I was a teenager. (My Brazilian mother is from Niteroi, which you may recognize as the city on the opposite end of the bridge in Fast 5 and Fast X) I have never been robbed in the over 40 years I have either lived in Brazil or visited it. I think a little preparation (Portuguese is the native language and though it may seem close to Spanish, it is wishful thinking that knowing one will help you with the other, Also I have over 500 videos of Jericoacoara which is close to my house, on my You Tube playlist. I am guessing that their are plenty of people who post on You Tube about Brazil who know something about video taping in public that you don't. I have never heard such a crazy fearful video). I live in a small village of 2,500 where the nearest Police Station is 2 hrs. away, yet I am much, much less concerned than you were in your video. i am aware of ACTUAL events, not rumor's. i have access to almost every American tv news broadcast, neighbor hood news of where I used to live in MD. as well the nightly NBC news and alerts of everything that happens in the USA in real time. What does that mean. Even though I am thousands of miles away I could tell my daughter that they broke-in and stole Kia's and Hyundai's at the complex near where she lives in MD. because the Kia Boyz were popular on Tik, Tok. That two of her former co-workers in Germantown at Top Golf were shot by a patron who did not want to leave at closing time. This was before she knew. Of course, when the Manager shot some of his staff in the Walmart break room, Members of the community were gunned down at their local grocery store in Buffalo, A patient shot his doctor at his hospital office, 50 kids arrested in Philadelphia for Smash and Grabs at retail stores, A crazy guy broke into Nancy Pelosi's house and severely injured her husband when she was not home....and of course I get daily alerts of Road Rage, Mass Shootings at Church's, Schools, Night Clubs etc. In Brazil it is a crime of opportunity. People commit them to get possessions they can sell to feed their families or themselves. Is it right, of course not, but because it is aimed at tourists it is High Alert. I once saw a travel Alert from the UK. They admitted that the USA had an abundance of crime, but since it was not aimed at tourists it was ok to travel there In the USA it is just Racism, Revenge or Just Crazy People. Before you do your next video and needlessly scare your viewers, as they say....ASK SOMEBODY..and get a news alert from your favorite tv station where you live. You will be educated. 😎 By the way at Sao Paulo Airport, the majority of McDonalds only sell Ice Cream, the ones that sell food only sell them in Combos, you cannot buy individual items. Also Subway does not carry my favorite Meat Ball sandwiches and the hardest thing to find is Vanilla Ice Cream, they have every flavor but.
