well it actually means that your computer if you want it to have a long life can't handle jack shit. Coz the M1 Chip also houses the CPU and there is NO fan. After first displacing it with the later 2010 models that caused a lot o CPU meltdowns, they got rid of it entirely this time. Yeah, but you saw the geekbench scores at 4:30 of the old one. The leaked geekbench scores for Macbook air M1 is 1700 single score (faster than intel cores) and 7000 in multicore which puts it way ahead of anything in its class
@@altrax5 16 Inch performs poorly Because Intel produces large transistors and Apple produces inadequate cooling. These things combined means that the 16 inch is always thermal throttling. It would be better to compare to a laptop with a 5nm Ryzen chip, but we know Apple would never do that. 🤷♀️
With the benefit of a lot more speed at a far lower price. You’re not going to beat Intel by doing things the same way Intel does them. It’s like people complaining about iPhones not taking micro-SD cards so you have to buy all the storage from Apple at “artificially high prices”, but the reality is that what Apple is putting onboard is actually about the fastest performing storage that’s made. Their RAM will be the same story here - it’ll likely be among the highest performing RAM on the market compared to anything else.

Intel's 11th generation and the new Ryzen chips released this year were both significant jumps in performance and battery life. Please compare the Macbook to those in your future video rather than comparing it to last gen MacBooks. Btw it is strange how Apple had to remove the cooling fan from MacBook Air in order to make the Pro look good.

Let's say M1 can only max at 20W but intel chip could go to 30W, then intel would easily beat m1 in performance with only compromise being battery life (and we still don't know how much will be that)
If they would put a fan in them the pro would be a lost world that wouldn't sell so good. Now the chip can overheat oan clockdown. Wich is better for the shops to tell you the pro is better.
@@nathanvrvrt Honestly for my university work, I prefer mac since it was mandatory during all of my middle and high school, but the only option is to buy a macbook and an ipad in which case I said fuck it and got a surface book since I can sync the one drive better with my pc. But honestly there are many small things that apple does so much better which makes such a huge difference and windows is so goddamn stupid a lot of times like needing to go into the registry to change things.
The price for the MacBook air seems very fair if it lives up to the claimed specs. I wonder if they're keeping it low because buyers will essentially be the guinea pigs for this major change. Maybe later they'll ramp up the price?

Remember the AMD events? Remember their graphs, and how they compared their products to NAMED options offered by competitors and used meaningful statistics and numbers? That was impressive. This feels like an attempt at that, minus all the actual concrete stuff. I have no doubt these products will be good for their target audience, but the fluff of the presentation was meaningless and leaves us all waiting for it to end up in the hands of benchmarkers.
I think it’s smart marketing and presenting. It’s actually quite ruthless to reduce your competitors down to a nameless footnote. Why bother giving them any exposure whatsoever to the millions who watched the presentation?
That stuff is impressive to tech nerds, not normal people, which is why it’s good for marketing. My prediction is that this chip will be a game changer and the doubters will be silenced as usual.

If you keep up to date you will be pushed through an expensive gauntlet of releases whilst still remaining far from anonymous, but causing much ewaste and never being on the cutting edge - not that that is any better a consideration for an end user

I have an external 1tb ssd, an eGPU with rx580 so i can connect up to 4 more displays (for a total of 5 including the laptop), a multiport adapter from anker, and maybe potentially down the line i might want to use the last port to connect to a hard drive storage unit. but for now i'm using it to connect my phone to the macbook. I technically could use the 2 port version, but 16gb of ram isnt gonna cut it for me as i multitask and work on phat video projects.

You could even get 480fps...texturing, animating, displaying a 50 pixel height character, with a few hundreds polygons, that will be 1 inch big, on your tablet/phonescreen, and a 500'000 polygon model, that will occupy half the height of a 70 inches tv...lol... it's not the same.

This M1 just changed everything, most people don't know the potential behind putting ARM tech in Desktops and Laptops will do for us "consumers" in the now future. Let's say M1 can only max at 20W but intel chip could go to 30W, then intel would easily beat m1 in performance with only compromise being battery life (and we still don't know how much will be that)

@@nathanvrvrt Honestly for my university work, I prefer mac since it was mandatory during all of my middle and high school, but the only option is to buy a macbook and an ipad in which case I said fuck it and got a surface book since I can sync the one drive better with my pc. But honestly there are many small things that apple does so much better which makes such a huge difference and windows is so goddamn stupid a lot of times like needing to go into the registry to change things.

Remember the AMD events? Remember their graphs, and how they compared their products to NAMED options offered by competitors and used meaningful statistics and numbers?
That was impressive. This feels like an attempt at that, minus all the actual concrete stuff.
I have no doubt these products will be good for their target audience, but the fluff of the presentation was meaningless and leaves us all waiting for it to end up in the hands of benchmarkers.
I think it’s smart marketing and presenting. It’s actually quite ruthless to reduce your competitors down to a nameless footnote. Why bother giving them any exposure whatsoever to the millions who watched the presentation?

I have an external 1tb ssd, an eGPU with rx580 so i can connect up to 4 more displays (for a total of 5 including the laptop), a multiport adapter from anker, and maybe potentially down the line i might want to use the last port to connect to a hard drive storage unit. but for now i'm using it to connect my phone to the macbook.
I technically could use the 2 port version, but 16gb of ram isnt gonna cut it for me as i multitask and work on phat video projects.

MacBooks haven’t had upgradable ram since 2011, so I’m really confused by these tech reviewers complain about non-upgradable memory.
Having the ram on the die is absolutely key to getting the performance to watt efficiency and its why your mobile phone uses die stacking.
Nothing new here. The last MacBook with removable RAM was 2012 15” MacBook Pro.
