I have a Kwaiken that ive tried using as a work knife a few different times. It never goes well. All the loctite in the world cant hold it together. Horrible tolerances make all the parts fight each other to come apart, and un-shouldered standoffs make it an effortless fight. Ive seriously had the two sides separate in my pocket, to the point that the pivot is the only thing holding the knife together. Also, unless i wave it out of my pocket i can hold it spine down and fold it up like its basically a slip joint. Even if i do wave it out, i can still slip the lock half the time. I modded it to use a Hinderer pivot and standoff so it at least stays together now, but calling it trash would be an insult to all the safe, functional trash out there. Edit: It takes such a great, sticky sharp edge though, and I love the blade shape.
I’ve had a few Emerson’s and I haven’t had that issue. But they definitely aren’t the best looking, they are definitely designed to just be work knives. So far I haven’t had a problem with Emerson’s as work knives but who knows, maybe I will now haha 🤣 but they do take wicked edges.
