I'm actually more annoyed that this wasn't a free patch now. I haven't seen anything that justifies charging people for what is essentially a texture pack
Wish they had more idle animations, or even added a feature where dinosaurs would sit after not doing anything for a while. Also some of the models, especially the micro raptor, seemed to have lost some of their features. Microraptor seems to have lost its teeth. One other thing is models like Ovis seem to have lost a few polygons.
Am i the Only one who thinks the old Ark Looked better??? taking in account that it's almost a 10 year difference between games. The new ark is literally the equivalent of playing Minecraft with a Shaders Pack, I good upgrade but still the Same game in every way. I feel like This should of been a free TLC update not a "WHOLE NEW GAME"
I was honestly surprised that the models/rigs weren't updated for the oldest dinos. Mosa, Bronto, Paracer, Phiomia etc. all could use some TLC. But... they did release in Early Access. And they completely revamped a handful of models back in ASE (Direwolf, Dire Bear, Saber, etc.), so it's entirely possible that these texture updates are only temporary. I sincerely hope they rework the dinos to bring them more in line with how organic the environments feel.
@@nashonabo821 Easy now, I'm not trying to start anything. Please don't be like that. :) Please note I said "possible" and not "likely." I know the developer's history with Ark, and I'm not holding my breath. And for what it's worth, I have not bought the game. Like many others, I'm either waiting to see if/what improvements are made, and whether I want to buy the game at all. I do like Ark's concept, though, and have played ASE. It's something I'm interested in, conceptually speaking, and I'm curious as to where the franchise goes from here. Because let's be honest: there are CEOs and publishers who want to milk it. I just hope the actual artists and writers who love the game itself and *want* to improve it, get the chance to do so.
Everyone is saying that most the dinos haven’t changed. And that’s true. But remember this is still early access. It probably won’t look like this in a couple of months. Just like how ASE looks different now from when it was first released. I’m excited for what all they will update.
This was my thought, too. Updated the textures on existing creatures, but given their drive to TLC dinos back in ASE (well, some of them, anyway), I can't see them leaving all these old rigs/models in the game. Like you said, it's Early Access. A lot can change, and we'll see what (if anything) Wildcard updates while they continue to work on the game.
@@waadi3ach569 they’re getting updates they’re fixing everything. Plus a lot of people were complaining about the wait even going so far as to send death threats because it wasn’t coming out when they thought. We need to understand that making a game is not easy and making a game with such a high demand with an engine they’ve never used before is even more difficult. Give them time, remember all of this work will help make Ark 2 that more amazing.
for real they just did copy and paste for all the dinos and they did 5-10 rework for each dino all wha i see that there 1 or 2 dinos that they really did work on
For the ones who cant see the difference let me inform you what they have done. Basically changed the color maps and added some depth with more shaders. They did nothing but imports of textures, models and animations. The main change is the environment. Character models, weapons, dinos and even most the foliage still look like garbage. 100% waste of money not to mention a huge portion of ASE players cant play due to hardware.
they need to update the animations when they finish the models, some have been improved. Most have not. However the animations really need to be "ascended" because its holding the quality back, and feels like a copy and paste of the game.
Some of those fur transitions look pretty rough, like the beaver, bear and wolf. Not the fur itself, but where it changes from the normal texture to fur, especially in the face it doesn't blend in well at all. Most of the creatures look fine, not much has changed, but honestly seeing the beaver made me go "oh dear".

i think the asa and the ark one is basically the same but with the sun lights and a little bit more details i was think they will update all model of out dated creature of 2015 to 2017 and make a big tlc with all old creatures with new ability
they somehow made them look worse, especially the fur, and for the textures they seem to have applied uniform grunge maps that make everything look muddy and deformed.
Most of it is updated skins but some of em got well needed model tweaks. Im keeping my fingers crossed for a tlc pass though, because some if them -ahem, rhino- need more than just a facelift.
I hope we see a significant upgrade in the designs when Ark 2 comes around because these are just the same models with a slightly higher def reflective map. I love the UE5 environment updates but the stylistic models feel a bit jarring against the realism of the background. At least in the first game they felt part of the same game. They had an oppertunity to do some real TLC on some of the models (Bronto especially) so its disappointing they are still using outdated models
This is kind of a reminder that the old Ark models were really good honestly. The new ones are awesome but the old ones still look pretty good. The rest of the graphics really shine over the old ones though.
New megalodon is the biggest improvement (Otter close second with pelagornis, titanoboa and sarco honorable mentions) New microraptor is the biggest downgrade (Quetzal second place)
I could be dead wrong, but a lot of these seem to be the exact same but with better normal maps (the textures that determine how light bounces off the model). Would explain why some people are mentioning better depth.
The landscape and rock textures are great but why are almost all the dinosaurs now in an orange color? The white unicorn now became an orange/brown unicorn, the black/white penguin became an orange/brown penguin, so the variety of colors is only orange/brown...

On what setting did u play ASA? Because i feel that u are using dlss on performance or ultra performance which will look bad , u should use it on ultra quality or turn it off
I'm actually more annoyed that this wasn't a free patch now. I haven't seen anything that justifies charging people for what is essentially a texture pack
I like how the dodo slowly turn his head around towards you, and you back away before it cuts to the next dino ahahha
I'm sorry but what was in the background of the old wooly rhino?? 😂
08:12...The plesiosaur be steppin in this update tho! 🔥🔥🔥
I sincerely hope they rework the dinos to bring them more in line with how organic the environments feel.
doubt.. I'm sure the devs will thank you for the 50 dollar donation tho
@@nashonabo821 Easy now, I'm not trying to start anything. Please don't be like that. :)
Please note I said "possible" and not "likely." I know the developer's history with Ark, and I'm not holding my breath.
First off they have to make the game playable without everyone having to upgrade their ocs
@@waadi3ach569 they’re getting updates they’re fixing everything. Plus a lot of people were complaining about the wait even going so far as to send death threats because it wasn’t coming out when they thought. I’m sure they were under a lot of pressure to get it out when they could.
6:30 i can feel that
It has no teeth anymore😭
Only time will tell. For now, we shall wait for the release of potentially new models for dinos (hopefully)
Kinda wish this was a side by side. While playing I truly felt like the Trike, Stego and Dodo were literally the same textures
They aren't
@@EighmyLupin they are
The new kapro is a masterpiece ❤
they need to update the animations when they finish the models, some have been improved.
Yeah I feel like the first got the lesser treatment as well. I was so excited for a better wolf and thyla
Glad I'm not the only one who felt that way. Here's hoping for some improvements as the devs work through other Early Access things.
@@tacthescribbler772 I just hope they actually start to wise up and fix things accordingly lol
40;dollars for a shader is wild
The Kairuku (penguin) and Ovis look worse to me. Look at the horns on the Ovis.
Yeah, that penguin looked bad. The rest look better though. Especially the water creatures
@@magic_manl2572 I didn't think the penguin looked as bad as the ovis. The ovis horns look sooo much worse lol but yes, the rest of the creatures looked so much better
@@dylan9013 could just be a visual glitch. It did come out yesterday, so I'll give them a chance to fix things before i judge too harshly. As long as the trunk is good, the branches can get better
@@magic_manl2572 Right there with you. Still in early access! Lots of optimization to be done!
These ovis horns look like they r from the ps2 what the actual hell
I hope Microraptor lacking teeth is just the game going low poly like OG Ark likes to do from time to time and it isn’t just permanently stuck like that,.
They're...the.. same. GAME!
i think the asa and the ark one is basically the same but with the sun lights and a little bit more details i was think they will update all model of out dated creature of 2015 to 2017 and make a big tlc with all old creatures with new ability
bro some of these new models look significantly worse than the older ones. that microraptor 😂
The King 6:57
they somehow made them look worse, especially the fur, and for the textures they seem to have applied uniform grunge maps that make everything look muddy and deformed.
I'm definitely not blown away by the comparisons. Some new color schemes and fur and feathers that move continuously. What a cash grab
The new Ankylosaurus looks so much better than the old one. I love the Ankylosaurus, its my favorite dino
Most of it is updated skins but some of em got well needed model tweaks. Im keeping my fingers crossed for a tlc pass though, because some if them -ahem, rhino- need more than just a facelift.
6:32 You’re not the only one.
Honestly I prefer the old models for the majority of them, a lot of the new ones just aren’t doing it for me.
They're practically the same except for the textures.
I think it’s his graphical settings
He prefers low res stuffs
Whats the music playing 4:47? Incredible video incredible music choice
Dino sepertinya tidak terlalu mengalami perubahan mungkin nanti nyusul, Tapi perubahan Alamnya Emang Gila sih
The new lighting engine really highlights how most of the old dinos looked like they were made of play-doh
This is kind of a reminder that the old Ark models were really good honestly. The new ones are awesome but the old ones still look pretty good.
The rest of the graphics really shine over the old ones though.
11:02 me in the background trying to fight the drunk man at the bar
Idk why I thought the Rynio wouldn’t be in this game but it looks awesome
New megalodon is the biggest improvement (Otter close second with pelagornis, titanoboa and sarco honorable mentions)
New microraptor is the biggest downgrade (Quetzal second place)
I can’t wait for aberration
ASA steam reviews are tanking lmao
Is there anything new outside of cosmetics?
some dinos in ASA need TLC p.s microraptor diffenently does
and mosasaurus , carno , diplodocus...
Some of the designs definitely need a bit of rework.
none of creature models changed. Most of them needs but I dont think they will do it since they also have another game to work Ark 2
Majority of them do
I love how vibrate the colors are
Is there sinomacrops in asa
not at the moment
I could be dead wrong, but a lot of these seem to be the exact same but with better normal maps (the textures that determine how light bounces off the model). Would explain why some people are mentioning better depth.
The landscape and rock textures are great but why are almost all the dinosaurs now in an orange color? The white unicorn now became an orange/brown unicorn, the black/white penguin became an orange/brown penguin, so the variety of colors is only orange/brown...
Argy had very little change, but it was also TLC'd. If it was compared to OG Argy it would be a vast difference.
It may just be a trick of placement, but some of them seemed bigger than their old selves
I agree, in game lots of them, especially the megalodon, seem HUGE compared to survival evolved.
I knew it!!!
I’m freaking psychic!!!!
These are just reskins and not very impressed, I knew they wouldn’t be that polished is wildcard after all, they ponder to what snail games want and then they complain and bitch about the poor reviews and reception
I’ll wait and see when the game is fully released
Right now I got my hand busy trying to catch up on all the games that i had to miss out because they’ve been coming out with so many good games at the same time it’s bananas 😊
Feel like a 5mb mod has done more.
This was always one of those games where I thought it was like the Pinnacle of graphic technology and then they go and kill it again it's crazy
Arks graphics r pretty bad
@@waadi3ach569 maybe if you use a potato for a PC but to say are graphics are bad you're just one of them people that wants to cry and complain all the time about everything lol
@@milancerpwns9358or maybe he just thinks the graphics are pretty bad
Here come the check videos! You should show off new in game features ETC. been watching you for a long time now, keep up the good work.
Microraptor(i hate you)😂😂😂
ill be honest im not sure what the people in the comments are inhaling, but it sure is a lot of copium, outside of a few changes to maybe updated fur like the argentavis, most of the models, yes even the "eyes" and faces stayed pretty much the same lmao, they are just under better lightning i guess thanks to UE5 lumen, but most of them really are unchanged
ngl i giggled at "omg the eyes, so much more lively, so much more depth" like...what? its the same texture lmaooo
3:31 my favorite part
Probably not a popular opinion, but I'm glad they didn't go crazy changing stuff. It wouldn't be familiar if they looked completely different
