I finally picked this up when it was released on steam after you kept saying how awesome GSC was. It's completely blown my socks off to say the least! The things you said kinda sounded a bit too good to be true but hell this game delivers! I'd probably never have heard of this title if it weren`t for you, so yeah, thanks Matt!
I'm sold, I want this game. Also, Subbed, you seem to have a similar outlook in sim-racing games as I do, for example I don't really enjoy AC, bought it, and really don't like it. I have like 8 hours on it tried it recently within 2 months ago.. and god, still hate it. Race07 was good when i played it years ago, but the graphics are very un-saturated, and overall Rfactor is just a better game but I want something new. This looks like the way to go in 2015. Unfamiliar tracks is a refreshing scene for me, I love grabbing a random racetrack and learning it, practicing for hours with unfamiliar cars so I can get into a race with some hardcore AI and test my skills. Edit: Bought it, tried it, did 2 full sessions, loved it! This is truly something special.
Bought this as well as Formula Truck almost a year ago after seeing your videos and they've been my go to racing sims ever since. Thanks a lot, and great to see Reiza getting the extra attention they deserve by getting their games on steam. Anybody know of any good english speaking leagues to join? Doesn't matter which cars, shit even a rental kart league would be great those things are a blast.
only 6 more weeks til i moveback to USA and get to use my new gaming Pc cant waiiiiit! going to check this game out for sure after this review of yours Box. my ps3 finally died the other day so officially no more GT6. not even mad tho, after finding your channel i realized how weak GT (and console sims) really are. thank brah!
About the name "Stock Car": Till year 2000 the category used production-based cars from Chevrolet (GM). In 2000 they start building tubular chassis from scratch, but kept the name since it's such traditional category here in Brazil
And now it's 2019 and I'm reinstalling this miracle and re-watching this review while it installs. Really up there with GTR2 as a racing title. Damn, I mean... I'm reinstalling it because I read 2 days ago a thread where a user asked for *GSC2012* install files and Renato Simioni (who is the CEO of Reiza Studios I believe) shared them like "there you go mate". I asked for GSCE install files because of nostalgia and Renato shared me the basic install with all the freaking updates up to the latest of all the versions of it. I mean... now *that's* a great dev team.
Just started playing gsce yesterday after buying my t300rs for pcars. I had hoped pcars was going to be a proper sim, like a lot of folk, so when I read a lot of reviews about how it still isn't a real sim I dig out my old gaming pc and buy gsce with formula truck bundle on steam, and also rf1 for less than £5! All I can say is don't see myself playing pcars again. Racing the w12 f1 car was just mind blowing. The sound of that thing is just awesome! Just need to get into iracing now...
@EmptyBox Thank you so much for showing this game on your channel, I went and got the Demo last night... I am buying this game.. I have been playing Assetto Corsa and this is so much better. Thank you :P
Not sure about all the tracks but knowing the guys at Reiza I'd assume Interlagos isn't the outlier but the norm. It hasn't been said, but I'd assume it wasnt done from that laser scan data iRacing purchased. If it were from a scan, I'd assume they would hype that up a bit. There are a few differences, but it's really really close in most areas.
I love how they have old school F1 cars... i remember playing Grand Prix legends for hours when it worked on my PC. and i might give this game a test. and i gotta say your reviews of games are the best IMO :)
Both this and Formula Truck have been one of the most fun experiences I've had in a while. They're kinda sterile in the atmosphere department, but hey, what can you expect from a professional simulator
Bought the game a couple of days ago, obviously thanks to Empty Box. It's refreshing to see completely different tracks and completely different cars compared to the other sims. But racing against the AI is not really my thing and I expect that sooner or later I'll be a bit bored with hotlapping (even if I'm having a blast right now). Do you guys know communities that race a lot on Stock Car Extreme? I know that there's Race Department, but they usually race around 7 pm GMT which is a bit difficult for me.
wrestling with grizzly bears and brain exploding with sound. Its a mod I know but the DRM mod for gsce will give r3 a run for sound and the difficulty with driving is from either shitty implementation or pretty good physics. Can't figure out which. At least with the Lancia. Its a blast. You mess with the mods?
The visuals really remind me a lot of iRacing. Not over-saturated like many new games/sims these days. AC makes me feel like I'm racing in a Bugs Bunny Cartoon.
Now for something completely unrelated,I remember driving Spielberg on a console racing game, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Do any of you you tubers out there happened to remember what it was? I think it was an original Xbox game, btw your channel is an off racing season addiction. Thanks for taking the time to do it!!!!
Probably one of the F1 games of the time or Pro Race Driver / ToCA / Can't remember what it was called in Australia (the series that has morphed into Grid)
You say that this game gives you complete confidence in the cars. Honestly, that's something I find more in Assetto Corsa than in this game. Would you suggest a specific camera setting or set of settings to get the most "feel" out of what you see on screen? I can't seem to get the feel of the cars down-pat, especially on low-speed corners in lightweight cars.
If you haven't seen it yet he already has a vid of him racing the Mini's. Go to his home page and find his playlist of Reiza developed sims, you'll find it there.
When describing Brazilian stock cars, you say that they have little downforce and little grip and are extremely fun. That's exactly what it felt like in the demo, but most certainly not in the 1.25 version of the complete game. While I would have to be on my toes in the demo, both on corner entry and exit being careful not to upset the car, in the 1.25 you can do whatever you want with these cars, they're not gonna lose their rear end grip and you can easily go flat out on corner exit. I'm not gonna discuss which one is more fun and I certainly won't argue that this is less real since I never drove one, but personally, this is so far the dullest class in 1.25 in my opinion, even though I was looking forward to it the most. It feels like traction control is on the whole time, I actually had to go back in the menu several times to confirm that it's indeed off.
Great review, great game. What I see as a plus aswell is that the now prototype cars and new tracks have all been free. Sadly, not a norm these days...
Thanks EB. I ended up finally getting this game. Have already had a lot of fun with just the karts and the formula cars. Quick question... are you going to the Indy Car race in Newton this year?
Empty Box Sorry I just don't want to be weird about asking anything from you and seeing if I make it to the race, if it would be possible to meet you and just shake your hand. You've been a huge inspiration to me and it would be awesome to thank you in person.
You made me buy Game stockcar like 7 months ago. Love the game but then i had to buy a wheel, raceseat, bigger monitor and new pedals ;) I still play this together with AC and Iracing. That last game makes me so nervous and frustrated that i almost wanted to stop with simracing. I suck when there is a real person on my rear bumper so now i practice in GSC again. Is it possible to upgrade my version to a steam version or did u buy (get) it again ? Oh en loved your 101's and all your vids but would love more "tutorials" / tricks.
Go to the game website, in the support section you'll find a "Retrieve Steam Key" just put the e-mail used when you bought the game and hit send, after that check your email to get the steam key.
Great review and video as always. How its possible to measure the FFb strenght of each car? I searched for any FFb meter or clipping tool but i aint found any. Thanks
Game can certainly be frustrating to set up from a graphics point of view. It really doesn't seem to like nvidia. But once you have it set... its amazingly fun.
I've only played the original version from 2011 (I think), I loved the handling and FFB, this one looks great with the additional cars and tracks, RedBullRing looks great, it's a shame finding servers with people racing is so hard... but that's true for almost all racing games... you don't find anyone, find a crash fest or join a league club (or Iracing), sadly it's what makes me race less and less...
Well after hearing you rave about this game so many times, I decided I would just go ahead and buy it..... and what I found out is that with the bouncy camera in cockpit view, I can't play it for more than 10 minutes at a time without getting sick. I have tried to edit the cam file, but all it seems to do is stabilise the world, but the car still bounces around me and I still feel sick. Any ideas on how to fix this? I have not this issue with AC or any of the other sim racing games.
FranchiseJuan Change the world movement (and g force IIRC) in the settings. IIRC world movement at 0% means the cockpit bounces around, 100% means the world moves around and the cockpit stays steady and 50% is sort of in the middle. You can also go into the .plr file (in your GSCE install, Userdata > YourNameHere) and edit these lines in Notepad - in your case you could try cutting them all in half and seeing how that works for you : Cockpit Vibration Mult1="0.20000" // Primary vibration multiplier affects eyepoint position (base magnitude is in VEH or cockpit file) Cockpit Vibration Freq1="42.00000" // Primary rate of vibration affects eyepoint position (higher framerates allow higher rates) Cockpit Vibration Mult2="0.28000" // Secondary vibration multiplier affects eyepoint orientation (base magnitude is in VEH or cockpit file) Cockpit Vibration Freq2="56.00000" // Secondary rate of vibration affects eyepoint orientation
Empty Box Thank you so much for tour suggestions. Between doing what you suggested and editing the cam file it made so much difference that I can now do an hour race without feeling sick! I am now really enjoying this game!!! Now for the hard part.... learning to be faster. It is amazing to me that I quite sim racing back in the sports car GT days, and in the time I was away rFactor, SimBin, SCE, and all the other stuff came about because of it. I can still remember reading modding posts by Ian Bell in the SCGT forums!
im curious, whether you or someone else in the community can answer this, how is the modding community, ive seen a number of mods dotted here and there and are any worthy of note. With my current financial position being a student and all ill wait for this to go under £15 whether thats a sale or g2a. Your reviews are awesome as always, cya on the track.
A lot of the top notch rFactor mods have been ported over and they are fairly decent, though some of them don't feel as good as the originals to me, though that might just be in my head.
I second the Race Department advice. There a few nice cars (911, BAC Mono, a GT3 mod etc.) available, but the amount of high quality mod tracks is astonishing. Imo the game has enough great sim cars already so I only downloaded some tracks for my own enjoyment or community races.
Hi there, could someone maybe share a link on how to install mods for GMSE on steam, I tried but cannot get it right. I'm missing something small I think and its frustrating me. Thanks
Like Matt said, 900 degrees in game options and max (32 or 33 degrees) steering lock in the car setup works for every car in the game. Don't know about karts, will try them soon!
Hey Empty do you think you could please tell me your settings for the g27 for this game? i can't get my ffb working like correctly is the best way i can describe it as.. If you could maybe post your g27 profiler settings for Game Specific and just the in-game options for ffb and sensitivity please and degrees of rotation? I would greatly appreciate it man
Man, I'm brazilian, racing fan, was loving your video... but you made a massive mistake when you said that the lack of wheather variations in GSCE is due to the brazilian clima. It's a big country, and it rains, snows. The lack of wheather in game is one limitation that I'm sure Reiza will fix in the future.
Slightly disappointing with the rental kart. Like I know their for fun but the grip isn't right on the front :/ it feels like its on the indoor surface.. but other than that everything else is great!
Christian Arreguin On the main screen when you start the game, there is the picture of the Brazilian stock cars. Vertically in the middle on the left and right sides of the photo you will find some yellow arrow buttons - click them. Don't worry, you aren't even close to the only one to miss them.
how do I download the v 1.25 update. dont want to go through steam. do I have to? i have been to race department and reiza studios but all I can get is this code for steam
Empty Box how long do you generally practice a track before you can race the AI without making big mistakes and what % do you normally have your AI on?
~15 minutes max with the stock cars and F3, bit longer with the faster formula cars. Generally 108% in the stock cars, usually only drop it down for the Formula Classic and F1s more modern than that one.
Empty Box Thanks, I've always been curious about what > 100% AI settings actually means, do they have a higher max speed than you, or do they 'cheat' on cornering with extra grip or something?
Game looks good but any of this cars are my taste :( I dont know if you can download some extra stuff like mods or addons but right now its empty game for me even those tracks.
I can't help but laugh just thinking about how'd you fare with Formula Truck xD Yeah, personally I much, MUCH prefer the saturated and colourful palette Reiza has chosen. Sick and tired of endless grey-orange-yellow-brown and unsaturated scenes.
If Euro Truck Simulator or something similar ever goes on sale for under 5 bucks would you give it a go for the purposes of entertaining strangers on the internet?
I came here to watch a review of the game because I thought I may buy it. But: Could you either dont call it review or make it just a lot shorter. Like 5-7mins would be fine, you just say all the facts about it and whats good whats bad and stuff. But people probably dont want to see a 17min long video just for a short review. I know youre gonna say hey many people liked my vid, why should i change anything. Thats true its just my opinion and its not that i dont like the video its more that I would prefer a short summary of facts. Thank you
Overview / Review. It's pretty clear it's 18 minutes long from the little thing that says how long, if you don't want to watch a 18 minute video don't click on one, plenty of other videos with the same stuff in it. :|
You watch the car in front too much, not your line. Which is why you always lose on exits. Plus you are negative as, getting hung up on the name and talking soooo sarcastically. Not helpful, just sad and jaded
I finally picked this up when it was released on steam after you kept saying how awesome GSC was.
It's completely blown my socks off to say the least! The things you said kinda sounded a bit too good to be true but hell this game delivers! I'd probably never have heard of this title if it weren`t for you, so yeah, thanks Matt!

makes me proud first proper BR sim thast worth mentioning
Brazil rains a lot and even snows in some Stock Car Brazil venues like Velopark. Its a big country and its not like Rio de Janeiro all over it.
only 6 more weeks til i moveback to USA and get to use my new gaming Pc cant waiiiiit! going to check this game out for sure after this review of yours Box.
my ps3 finally died the other day so officially no more GT6. not even mad tho, after finding your channel i realized how weak GT (and console sims) really are. thank brah!
Interlagos, YES!! I was going to comment in your last video to post something on Interlagos and this was great!
About the name "Stock Car": Till year 2000 the category used production-based cars from Chevrolet (GM). In 2000 they start building tubular chassis from scratch, but kept the name since it's such traditional category here in Brazil
You are not overly harsh, you review very well.
It's 2018. It's still better than ACC by a significant margin
And now it's 2019 and I'm reinstalling this miracle and re-watching this review while it installs. Really up there with GTR2 as a racing title.

Interlagos looks very accurate. I wonder if it is the same data that iRacing obtained or are all the tracks pretty accurate in GSCE?
Not sure about all the tracks but knowing the guys at Reiza I'd assume Interlagos isn't the outlier but the norm. It hasn't been said, but I'd assume it wasnt done from that laser scan data iRacing purchased. If it were from a scan, I'd assume they would hype that up a bit.

Good informative update on this game. I had GSC from about two years ago. Guess they've made some improvements.
Got any more iRacing videos planned Matt ? Saw you in a Star Mazda race earlier ;)
SM race will be posted in a day or two. This vid should have gone up last night, but I fell asleep at like 4 AM. lol
I love how they have old school F1 cars... i remember playing Grand Prix legends for hours when it worked on my PC. and i might give this game a test. and i gotta say your reviews of games are the best IMO :)
GSCE fun fact #203: Includes 3.76x as many graphics as rF2!
There's nothing stock about a Stock Car.
Stock cars are supposed to look something like a normal dealership car
The physics engine is old, but it's proven to be a good one(original rFactor engine)and also has good mod support.
Now do one for Formula Truck! You know you want to. :D
I spose I can try and squeeze that in I guess.
Empty Box that's what she said
Obi-Wan Kannabis lol
Both this and Formula Truck have been one of the most fun experiences I've had in a while. They're kinda sterile in the atmosphere department, but hey, what can you expect from a professional simulator
It's now on sale on steam for 40% off until June 6th
1:59 EXTREEEEME! 😂 Makes me laugh hearing the word said that way lol
Bought the game a couple of days ago, obviously thanks to Empty Box.

Probably one of the F1 games of the time or Pro Race Driver / ToCA / Can't remember what it was called in Australia (the series that has morphed into Grid)
ToCA racedriver in Australia was called V8 supercars 2/3.
This comment isn't just a comment, its a youtube comment extreme

If you haven't seen it yet he already has a vid of him racing the Mini's. Go to his home page and find his playlist of Reiza developed sims, you'll find it there.
Man I want to pick this up to play f1. Need a game with a strong online f1 community..
When describing Brazilian stock cars, you say that they have little downforce and little grip and are extremely fun. amazing sounds @ 17:35 - 17:47 and its a sim oh yeah!! I wonder if there are 1995 skins around. I love this sim.
Im getting it! Thanks for the honest review.
Thanks EB. I ended up finally getting this game. Have already had a lot of fun with just the karts and the formula cars. Quick question... are you going to the Indy Car race in Newton this year?
Yes
Cool I'm hoping to go as well. I'll be driving from Lincoln to there about three hours or so. Hoping to make the Indy Lights as well.
If I run into you though expect 14 year old girl screams and shouts and I'll probably throw my bra at you.
yogidrummer333
But see, you won't know it's me, because I'm incognito like that.
Empty Box Sorry I just don't want to be weird about asking anything from you and seeing if I make it to the race, if it would be possible to meet you and just shake your hand. You've been a huge inspiration to me and it would be awesome to thank you in person.

Nive videos !!!! Thanks...could you please share your PC set up with us?
I am also sold, if you like it that much I doubt it is less than awesome lol thx matt
dude that sudden jump in volume when commentary is finished is too much lol.
it was quiet commentary then boom, car sound BRRRRRR BRRRRRRR!!!!
This is a channel for racing sims, so naturally you are probably a racing fan. In which case, you don't mind. lol
GSCE Lite always crashes when I try to click on race or practice. No banner of any series appears in the background either. How can I fix this? Thanks!

Nice sim and nice review!
Yes. Off the top of my head, stops include tyre change, damage repairs, fueling and penalties
Lasse J Ougaard thx

Cockpit Vibration Mult1="0.20000" // Primary vibration multiplier affects eyepoint position (base magnitude is in VEH or cockpit file)
Cockpit Vibration Freq1="42.00000" // Primary rate of vibration affects eyepoint position (higher framerates allow higher rates)
Cockpit Vibration Mult2="0.28000" // Secondary vibration multiplier affects eyepoint orientation (base magnitude is in VEH or cockpit file)
Cockpit Vibration Freq2="56.00000" // Secondary rate of vibration affects eyepoint orientation
Empty Box Thank you so much for tour suggestions. Between doing what you suggested and editing the cam file it made so much difference that I can now do an hour race without feeling sick! Just bought it last night, funny you should review it now. Do you have to change your steering range for each car?
I use 900 degrees rotation in every car, max out the steering lock. For Karts, 270 degrees rotation and max lock. Just easier to remember.
Like Matt said, 900 degrees in game options and max (32 or 33 degrees) steering lock in the car setup works for every car in the game. Don't know about karts, will try them soon!
Thats what I ask from rfactor2, a complete game which is modable, not a programe with some content...
I would greatly appreciate it man
+quachimba He doesn't have a G27.
Nick Gregory Guess thats what i should have asked first.....
how this change to steam works? the guys ho already have the GSC 2013 will receive the steam key for free?
If you go on the GSC site there is a page to receive a steam code.
***** It was a joke.
Empty Box hard to find it funny. Maybe its my poor english, maybe is your lack of comedian skills
I seen that people are talking about rotation for cars. Do you put 900 degrees in game and the profiler (g 27 wheel)
Yes, then max out the steering lock in the garage.
Man that SouthAfrica circuit... Tom Pryce... Not good memories :S
GSC on steam wohoo!
Slightly disappointing with the rental kart. Like I know their for fun but the grip isn't right on the front :/ it feels like its on the indoor surface.. but other than that everything else is great!
I have the steam version. Cant even play it. Cant setuo the wheel or pedals. My wheel IS fanatec CSR. CS V2 pedals.
2021 says hello.
ok so i just bought this game but i only have 2013 and 2014 stock cars. i dont have any karts, or open wheel cars :(
Christian Arreguin On the main screen when you start the game, there is the picture of the Brazilian stock cars. Vertically in the middle on the left and right sides of the photo you will find some yellow arrow buttons - click them.
Don't worry, you aren't even close to the only one to miss them.
yeah i soon as i commented, i saw the arrows hiding. such a terrible design choice lol. and thanks anyway!
how do I download the v 1.25 update. dont want to go through steam. do I have to? i have been to race department and reiza studios but all I can get is this code for steam
Use the gscsync tool in your GSC folder.
The game looks much better than I expected especially using VSR and sweetfx.
I want to buy this game, but do I need a wheel or can I play on a xbox/ps controller? Please help
EXTREMEEEE
Empty Box how long do you generally practice a track before you can race the AI without making big mistakes and what % do you normally have your AI on?
~15 minutes max with the stock cars and F3, bit longer with the faster formula cars.
Generally 108% in the stock cars, usually only drop it down for the Formula Classic and F1s more modern than that one.
Empty Box Thanks, I've always been curious about what > 100% AI settings actually means, do they have a higher max speed than you, or do they 'cheat' on cornering with extra grip or something?
Brent Mills
They cheat. AI doesnt use the same physics as the player, so they can go super fast.
What do you think that the best physics mod in Rfactor2?
None of them. I spose if I had to pick, URD EGT or the IMSA Celica GTO.
How to be sure to see all video you post even if i subscribe ?
Go on youtube everyday and see if there's a new video
.... (???)
Someone, please deliver Unicorn Riding Simulator 2016. You will have my money.
Game looks good but any of this cars are my taste :(
I dont know if you can download some extra stuff like mods or addons but right now its empty game for me even those tracks.
I can't help but laugh just thinking about how'd you fare with Formula Truck xD
Yeah, personally I much, MUCH prefer the saturated and colourful palette Reiza has chosen. Sick and tired of endless grey-orange-yellow-brown and unsaturated scenes.
Formula classic put my hair on fire. NEEEEEEAAAAAWWWWWWWWW
If Euro Truck Simulator or something similar ever goes on sale for under 5 bucks would you give it a go for the purposes of entertaining strangers on the internet?
no.
TheBlackace41
guess who's vote means more?
TheBlackace41
So was I.
Empty Box Lol, thanks for the reply.
Meanwhile still only got a laptop only powerful enough to run rfactor...
Gotta rep us laptop-simmers breh.
Well this uses the same engine (G Motor) that Rfactor does so...
Pretty sure this sim has very light requirements, even for most laptops.
Yeah but I don't have a decent controller and don't have the space for a wheel sooo...
What wheel settings do you use for the karts
270 rotation, max lock.
He uses 270 with max lock, but if you care about real life parameters, use 180-220 degs with 16 lock :)
unicorn riding simulator 2016 im dying ahahhahaha
Anyone here want to race with me???
Got it in 2020 for the price of an iracing track lol, far better physics and graphics are not that far behind as well 😅😅😅😅
I came here to watch a review of the game because I thought I may buy it.
You could always read the description.

You watch the car in front too much, not your line. Which is why you always lose on exits.
Plus you are negative as, getting hung up on the name and talking soooo sarcastically. Not helpful, just sad and jaded
Ohh, God Johannesburg back in the 70's?? Baaaad baaaaddd times, the video still makes me queezy, if you know what I'm on about??
