I love the form of those Gloucester Old Spots,like an avacado on short little legs. They have the look of a real lard producer which always means great tasting pork as well. . Fat production is the main thing I look for in a homestead pig,as I have'nt sold any pigs for years. With home utility the only consideration,I usually grow pigs for at least a full year,over a year and a half for the one Mangalitsa.While this makes for one whole lotta lard, thats not really the whole story.....Truth be told, raising small herds of 2 to 4 for that long,I come to love these animals like any pet. We just want more time with them......Except for those Tamworths and they did'nt like us much either..... Based on your advice ,plus local availability ,we have decided on Old Spots for our upcoming 3 pig grow. I have to say that your pigs are really pretty, obviously very relaxed and healthy .I wonder how big they'd get in 12 to 14 months?... Once again Farmstead Meatsmith is my go to for Cascadian Swinecraft. Thank you for another useful and entertaining video.
