Every time I see something like that I’m amazed by the houses in the US. It seems everything is wood and cardboard 😁 it’s sooo easy to get cables or plumbing everywhere. I installed a smart doorbell and it was a nightmare, I needed a hammer drill just to remove the old doorbell, let alone change any wire…
@@mattsnyder4754 our houses are also less long-lasting and less soundproof between rooms. It’s a lot easier to send WiFi through walls, though. There are definitely pros and cons, and lots of opportunities for improvement through mutual sharing with other peoples’ ways of doing things
Here's an easy trick to get things level: Do one side at a time. Put it up roughly where you think it should go, mark the spot on one side, screw in a screw (or as us Europeans with brick or cement walls, drill a hole and use a "rawlplug") and boom, you got yourself a free hand. Simply hang up one side of whatever you need to mount, hold the other side with your hand, and mark the hole. As someone who just moved into my own house, I've done this probably 20 times thus far. Alternatively, stick some tape underneath the holes on the rack, mark the holes with a sharpie, and put the tape on the wall. Getting the flimsy 1 gram tape on the wall and getting it level is much, much easier than trying to mark some holes by lifting a rack up there.
Expertly done Quinn! If you want to get into weights, a power cage is the way to go, so it can catch the weights if you fail and can work out by yourself. To fit in your small space you could get a shorter "training" bar that can still hold a lot of weight for basic fitness.

I wear weights while playing vr. I even have quick swappable and machine washable facial interfaces. It is the best way to work out if you aren't doing manual labor that also pays well.
The reason for the discrepancy in the hole size for the Ethernet cable is for a cable that does not have a RJ45 end already crimped. Crimping afterwards reduces air leak between conditioned and unconditioned environments.
because working out in VR is waaaaay better for increasing your metabolism. lol but my 2 cents, paint the switch box white with appropriate metal spray paint and always use banana plugs for audio, takes longer initially but it pays back dividends when something happens, and it always does. like a lightning strike blowing up your amp or your cheap amp just dying and you have swap it out in a year or two.
Great video of the process many thanks. Does anyone have any good videos to learn about wall work? How to identify studs, how to drill into brick vs. dry wall, etc?
I now base my dream of a smart home(or as I see it: simply my future home) off of your videos. You do it logically, and you make what matters just work. Bravo, and please keep making more content in this genre!
This is genuinely such a great video! Very informative, very nicely paced imo. Also, the shoutout for Silver Cup was a nice feel. I love their music and am always happy to see you plug their stuff. They deserve every bit of attention :D
Cool Gym.. and yet the most interesting part to me was those snap off raw plug things you put in the wall at around the 5 min mark ... never seen those before, i shall be searching those out ... :)
This was really cool. Since it’s a project with your wife you should look at working her into the video. My wife would love the tonal, maybe one day. We have a Peloton now which she loves. That point to point wireless option was cool, I wasn’t aware they were that reasonable.
Fun fact, i installed similar wifi kits inside the elevator shafts of a 20 story building, to retrofit IP security cameras (one in the top of the shaft, one on top of the cabin) Been working great for about 5 years now.
Funny timing my fellow Utahn, not too long ago I replaced a plebian normie wifi router with a 24 port PoE switch and Ubiquiti AP, and just this past week or so rebuilt my home theater to a neighbor-aggravating 7.2.4 setup with fancy 4k HDR tv. I too mounted the TV "too high" to clear 3 front tower speakers, so sue me.

Yeah, try this in the UK, where anything less than 45 years old is considered a "new-build"
I appreciate you doing this as I'm sure that FILMING building a smart garage gym at least doubles the work of your renovation. Looks great, team!
