Thank you very much Sir for sharing this video tutorial. I hope you can also provide a tutorial like this, but involving 3 layer box. I am trying to make a layered-box, with the bottom and middle compartment with a hinge and the upper layer as a removable cover. I hope you can help. Thank you.
If you wanted to add dividers to the box would you do it by additive or subtractive boolean or would you instead do it from the starting sketch extrusion? thanks
I think that I would play around with using a Rib Feature Tool. Maybe adding some lines to define the dividers and then Rib to create a solid partition. Edit sketch 1 and add lines in the location that you later add the ribs.
great vid. thanx. just getting to grips with onshape so some basic questions if any-bods can chip in :) 1) presumably for 3d printing is it necessary to create the lid + main box in a separate parts studio? 2) how would you slice the box non-symmetrically, with a bottom section greater than the top?
I realize it has been seven years since this video, and many things have changed, but I cannot select the top plane when I try to split the box. I am curious as to what the cause could be. Anyways, GREAT video. Sub'd
In Onshape, all of your parts and assemblies are contained in an Onshape "Document". In your document, in the lower left corner is a "+" . Click on that + and you will see "start a new Part Studio". That is the work area for making parts from sketches and adding features. If you need more basic, step by step, information about using Onshape, go to my UA-cam Channel page: ua-cam.com/users/cadvideotutorials
@@simonharte7530 In the Part Studio, go to the upper left corner of the page and click on the Sketch button with the word "Sketch" and the icon of a pencil to the right of Undo/Redo buttons. Choose a sketch plan to work on and start sketching using the sketch tools on the menu. There are other videos on the channel that show how to get started in Onshape
When I go to do the second sweep on the second half, it refuses to highlight the sweep path. Either highlights both edges along the top, or entire sides. Either way, it wont work. Any ideas?
Back up by deleting the last several sketches or features.....review the video and try again. It will work. If this doesn't do it, start over and work it through step by step.
With the help of this tutorial I made a drip tray and printed out with my 3d printer, amazing tutorial
That is awesome!
Split, shell & draft. 3 new tools. Thank you!
excellent to-the-point tutorial. exactly what I sought!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks so much for demoing this process!
Concise and educational. This is gonna make a lot of things easier for me
This is so good, great tutorial. I love that I can follow along 5 years later and everything in Onshape is still there.
Glad you like it! Look for new material coming
Terrific. Nothing short of terrific. Thank you
Very useful, exactly what I was searching for, thank you!
picked up a lot of tricks from this video, thanks
Great instruction. Thanks a lot!
Awesome! Thanks!
No problem!
Excellent! Thanks.
I prefer to use boolean removal to make the joints so that I'm sure that there is no overlap and it allows easily to add a small offset.
Thanks, good idea. I will try that out. Please post any other suggestions for this or other projects.
Sick video brotha

Thanks for the simplicity

@@Onshape.Learning.Projects Thank you, this worked perfectly!

If I print it 3d print it will be able to open and close it or not??
Not sure, try it
I dont understand the draft part. Is it so you can print it as 1 and take it apart with ease? Sorry, i am new to designing.
Thx, very nice video
This has been so great. Anyone know how to add slack for 3d printing by following this?
Use "move face" to add slack to the mating surface.

best box design
not abusing of extrude option
Yeah, it wont let me select the "edge of shell" to do the second sweep. Just the face of it. Not working. Im stuck.
Start over, follow the video, it will work
Had same issue , just started that section over.
How do you get your drawings at start of video

That is what I did, it worked. Program is trying to anticipate what you want.
Why do I lowkey think that this dude who's talking sounds like Christopher Reeve?
Way too fast with not enough explanation of how to use the individual tools
Honestly didnt understand a single thing
Great instruction. Thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
