She is so shy in real life and such a beast on a podium
As others have mentioned, you can practically see the switch flip just before she goes on stage. From best friend/girl next door to this tremendous machine.
i love that girl next door
I feel you Lauren. This is why Floor can bring the emotions on stage and make you feel the songs. No 'ego' standing between her and the listener. She's a gift. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
P.s.: sorry I made you cry 😁(okay, that's a lie)
You are cruel, making her cry. 😉
Since you have this ability to make people cry (with a smile), you must be a *gift* too.
Not sure in what language though...🤔
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 That kind of tearing up is deeply versed in Afterforeverish 🥲
@@BrendonChase_2015 Oh yes. That language is a bit like Latin: very much alive and well, but used only by few people in special contexts.
Fun fact: in the VG's nu-native language, the word "gift" has two meanings. One is the same as in German (surprise!). And the second one is "married".😂
I'm sure no jokes were ever made about it.
Floor is the most humble person ,she is so nice and funny😊
Those were her classmates from the school of rock she attended at age 16 while she was in her 1st band After Forever . It was the 1st year of the school of rock's existence and she is there student that's achieved the most .
They actually produced some other names. Duncan Lawrence for example, who ended up winning Eurovision Song Contest. But yeah, these are class mates, so they are set in a classroom setting.
@@AndreSomers Even in this class, Jacqueline Govaert (Krezip), Danny Vera, Tarik Azzougarh/Cilvaringz (Wu-Tang Clan)...

I think it's impossible to not be just a little bit in love with Floor, since she's such a lovely and humble person on top of being a kickass singer of course. I'm not very emotional but clips like these are just armor piercing.
You got that right, and for a whole ton of us it’s way more than “just a little bit in love”.
Lovely reaction! This show is a reunion of the Dutch Rock Academy's first class which included Floor, thus the schoolroom setting and the desks. Not sure of the exact timing but I think she was already singing in After Forever when she attended. This show provides a really good insight into what a grounded person she is and also how being a highly sensitive person affects her. During the pandemic I was a faithful Fan Friday watcher on her YT channel as well as her various series especially her Storytime series about her life. They are an amazing window into who she is as a person. Grounded, caring, and a great sense of humor. Her one flaw may be that she doesn't like tacos!
ohh.. 🌮THAT Tacco Thing again 🤣🤣; but PIZZA
Floor did audition for the Rock Academy, with After Forever.
After this the documentary Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours is a must for you!
Haha, l saw them live 16.6.2023 at Kitee Rantakenttä, Finland. Floor was very heavily pregnant, but still they delivered a full two hours show (and next day in Vaasa she collapsed after the show). It was a experience of the life. 😎👍
That is why we love her so much. Thank you 💖. Greetings from Germany 🤗 alex
I totally feel for you Lauren. Floor just connects with people at a deep level. About four years ago, from the first song I heard her and Nightwish sing, it’s just affected me in the most amazing way. June this year we travelled all the way from South Africa to watch them in Gelsenkichen, Germany. To watch them and Floor was like a Devine experience. Even my wife cried with the one song Floor sang. And she’s no metal fan. ❤❤❤❤
Yes, the Show in Gelsenkirchen was something special. A friend of me travelled in spring from US to Berlin to see one of Floors Solo Shows, great thing she got a very special Meet and Greet with Floor in Stuttgart too. Floor has something special ...
I think the reasons why I and many, many others "adore" Floor so much are her voice and her singing quality, that she is such an incredibly nice, funny and down-to-earth person off stage, who is not too shy to get her hands dirty on her little "farm" and reacts almost shyly when she is praised and adored ... to then go on stage ... Boom, you have the feeling of experiencing an almost supernatural being. This stage presence is almost cheating ... and then she starts singing .... with an inner glow where you realize she loves it and it's not just a "job", she is born for this.
For me, the term Valkyrie is quite appropriate, not even because of her stage outfits with Nightwish, but because she collects souls like the Valkyries from the Sagas.
Whoever thinks videos of live shows with her would prepare you for a live, up-close experience ... no they don't.
Floor is just the same even today. So much talent and just as sweet and humble about it all. She might say, yeah I sing well, like I might say yes I did a good job on folding those clothes, just so casual. Her voice brings so many people joy and tears, and she just is not braggish or divaish at all about it. She will tell me and other superfans, I am just Floor.
I concr. She is always a little bit shy if the "superfans", or others, tell her how much she is loved ... and then she saying. I am just Floor!
@@oliverdonder7616 Yes sir, and Hey!
There are in a classroom setting because this was a tv show that reunited specific years of a class. This was the class that first graduated from the at that time just a few years old Rock Academy.
Hi Lauren, I've just turned 57 and every time ive watched this mini documentary ive cried so dont worry, our not on your own.The first time i saw it was the worst, I felt so proud of her myself and ive never met her. I love her mom and dad too, and I think I know how they feel lol. The first time I saw here with Nightwish I knew she was something special and I couldnt stop watching her perform. I don't know what attracts you to her but there is something special, I've watched all of her little vids from her channel (recommended) about her daily life and her family and pets that she did while in lockdown. It just makes you love her even more. It's the natural FLoor effect, she is so down to earth for real.
I was lucky enough to see her with Nightwish almost a year ago on the last tour here in Birmingham Nov 22nd after a loooong delay due to covid and sadly withot my favourite bassist Marko but they were still amazing to watch and i'd go back to see them again in a heartbeat. So when you cry at FLoor or Nightwish just let the tears flow if they come. They are happy tears And just to confirm its Floor, the other singers dont make me cry and Ive listened to Nightwish since the late 90's Take care Nice one Brendon.
thank you
If you didn't already love Floor, this will tip you over :)
So many lovely bits in this documentary.
The "Reunion" of the first year of Rock School.
Her parents, who came to see her in Finland.
Her walk about, just "happened" to see a record store.
I get what you mean regarding the dude who made a short comment about Nightwish being the greatest female fronted metal band out there. However, I don't think it was about what he personally felt about Nightwish, but rather that it was an achievement for any singer to become the frontperson of that band, specifically because it's considered one of the foremost female fronted metal bands out there. Also, just because the guy likes metal doesn't mean that he's particularly familiar with Nightwish.
Thanks for the reaction - and yeah, I couldn't quite hold back the tears when I first saw Floor's expression. As much as I love the music of Nightwish, to me it's also about the very human people behind it all.
this one gives me tears as well !
i am 51 years old and she makes me feel like a young teenager who has his first crush on that one girl you want to go to school for when you were 12 or 13 years old.
one thing i would like to comment on with regards to some people just talking about if en when the will start touring again like this is the most important in their lives... please think about the band members and what they are going thru, they live for their music so this is very hard for all that is going on and we should not demand that they risk health for our pleasure, better 2 or 3 years nothing then another band member gone or worse!
bit heavy but that's how i feel.
this band has given so much we should be lucky and happy already, don't push or demand anything from all these lovely people being Nightwish..past or present.
THX!
I can't help but cry, no matter how many times I've watched this documentary. God she's so gifted/beautiful/captivating, it's insane. In my opinion, she's the gift to mankind, she's the One. The Goddess. Nothing less.
The magic words from Mr Nightwish himself:
Floor is home!!!!
And the fact she calls her band mates brothers🥰🥰
This is a music class reunion. This gives some deep insight into the wonderful and talented Floor Jansen. Tear are cathartic. It allows us to empty sorrow from our soul. It is unhealthy to collect sorrow. Even if it is a happy cry.
she is great and down to earth...the last song of that concert...''the greatest show on earth'' is epic...🤘
Saw Nightwish at Wembly last November,And a good night was had by all,,😎
This is a really wonderful and revealing insight into Floor as a person and performer. She is so... wonderfully human and grounded. This is a person in the perfect place for her at the perfect time, like planets aligning.
Also, this was the same year she met her future husband, Hannes, the drummer of Sabaton, so a beautiful time for her.
BTW, there's a few other media stories from various Nordic outlets which are a lot of fun and insightful about her life off the road. Well worth checking out.
Hiya. Have you seen "Learn The Set List In 48 Hours"? It's a 2-hours documentary with subtitles that follows on from THAT telephone call to Floor. If you can't react to it because of the length, at least watch it in your own time. Cheers. Stay safe. All the best to you.
Something that you should know about FLOOR JANSEN. She started singing in a symphonic metal band at just 16 years old. After Forever (1995-2009). Then she created a new Progressive Metal band, ReVamp (2009-2016). In 2018 she released a personal Hard Rock project (Northward). In 2012, she was invited by Nightwish to finish their world tour, after the band's second female singer (Annete Olzon) left. In 2013 she became Nightwish's full time lead Vocalist. She is a singing teacher. She sings in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Italian and Latin. She sings Heavy Metal, Trash Metal, Pop, Rock, Symphonic Metal, Arya and Opera. She even sang rap. THE BEST SINGER TODAY IN THE WHOLE WORLD.
she is so amazing. thanks for the information
This tears me up every time. She is so strong on stage, yet so sensitive and sweet. Enjoyed this.
I love it how her personality is so humble and on stage, she's really rocking it! I've been to two Nightwish concerts in Antwerp and to a concert of her solo tour following the TV show "Beste zangers" in a city in The Netherlands. Feel so honoured about being able to do that.
I was also going to another concert of Nightwish, in Amsterdam. But then Covid arrived and tours were cancelled.
Oh and back in 2006 or so, I went to a concert of her band "After Forever" in my small countryside city. Back then, it was really niche.
After Floorever! Great band, torn apart by the sharks of the music industry. Love that version of Floor very much, she wasn't quite the same afterwards...
Yes, there is a big difference between her stage persona and the real one.
Genuinely Floor had only 48hours to learn the Nightwish setlist for the Imaginareum Tour in the US, She very quickly fitted into the band as a guest singer and was asked to become a member the following August across the Wacken weekend. I have been in small group chats with Floor and she is the most genuine caring person you could wish to meet, and in person she is far more beautiful as well.
fantastic. she's just...fantastic. so inspiring.
nice done (we like our litte sneeks in there privat life; but we respect them as well)
Simple: when She smiles , we smile ; when She cry, we cry.
Greetings from NW-Army-Germany and SabatonFan❤🔥
You should checkout Floor's home life she's so down to earth and humble like a really cool grounded friend who's willing to share emotions with you since she is an empath like Tuomas except Tuomas expresses his feeling in his music and lyrics.
Such a touching documentary. They really are just regular decent people.
That record shop, Record Shop X, is awesome. They have at least half a dozen shops across Finland. Their stock of new and second hand records is phenominal. I've been mail ordering from them for a couple of years to the UK. A great bunch of people and top service. (Sorry this wasn't supposed to sound like an advent 🤣)
Loves her followers humble lady ❤
The TV show De reunie ( the Reunion ) is quite good show , famous artist, singers , writers, actors athletes etc etc all appear on this show . With their former class mates .
Very very beautiful, thank you
❤ tears of Happinezzz 🐬🐿💥🪷
if you would have only discovered Nightwish a year or so earlier. they came through chicago May 2022. The US leg of that tour they performed in smaller venues.
I know! I'm so mad
Yeah, it was a fantastic show. They played at the Radius. I drove up from Dayton, Ohio because I was not going to miss seeing this band. 🤘
Floor is a simple person. But I think she is well surrounded, her parents, her family, her children, her sister. She has a rather simple and stable life. It helps, I think, to keep our feet on the ground.
you are so right
i say her parents and the support that they have for their younger daughters and family's close knit ties really helped alot to get her though whatever depression or burn out was happening to her. and when musicians see the dedication straight forward momentum and the kind of music they are playing and she is singing. when a musician compliments another musician that helps alot and that shows how down to earth and no ego trippin here ladies & gentlemen
She is such an empath, a truly exceptional person.
Good one.
The adorable Floor 🥰
When Floor cries I cry, it’s that simple.
When Floor cries, the world cries.
I saw her life in Amsterdam dec 8th and i knew she was good but when you hear her live on stage she sounds even better she is out of this world great and a really down too earth person with lots of humor too it was her solo tour btw and i'm even a bigger fan than i already was
She is pregnant and fighting cancer.
She is a very strong woman.
she's what? I had no idea! Oh my god.
Cancer was 3 years ago and after an operation she was cured succesfully so do not worry about that anymore, @@AmericansLearn
@@roborange159 Maybe time goes faster for you than for most people, but it was 11 months ago.
Perhaps you confused her with Marcela Bovio?

You are right.
My bad.

@@fcassmann Ehm... you didn't say anything wrong. I was replying to another person who said "cancer was 3 years ago". I guess his comment got quasi-hidden by YT.
Speaking of Floor though, she must be quite a bit past the due date now, and there haven't been any news. I don't like it.
Great to see some background on Floor, thank you
you are welcome, I really enjoyed seeing it!
🌹
I saw them in Chicago on their last tour. Beast In Black was the opening act, amazing show!!!
I have no idea which documentary about Floor makes me cry the most. Maybe in the Floor Jansen Story from the TV show 'Sing Meinen Song' from 2022. My absolute recommendation for you.
I concur
Yes, i concur
That is a nice one. I wish ze Dzchörmans would let people talk though, instead of overdubbing everything, that's kind of annoying.
My favourite... daamn, it's hard to tell. Maybe the "After Forever Documentaire". Young Floor making faces and flipping birds left and right, and young Joost van den Broek living up to his nickname.🤪
It is in a classroom because all these people were in the same class with here in the rock academy. Many of them became also well known in the Netherlands. For instance the Krezip-drummer Bram van den Berg, replaces temporarily U2 drummer Larry Mullen jr. the female singer from the group Krezip is also in this show.
Lauren, Floor has that effect on so many people - her ability to express emotions in her singing is amazing. Unfortunately, it will be a while before Nightwish tour again - they have taken a hiatus from touring for a while. I have attached a couple videos I took from their concert last year at the Radius in Chicago if you are interested in viewing: Seven Days to the Wolves - ua-cam.com/video/l9n5u6WONY8/v-deo.html and Shoemaker - ua-cam.com/video/6h7hwVyyzgY/v-deo.html
👏👏
I cry every time I see this... so... ❤
The show this was a part of, is one in which a classroom of years back reunite to tell their live stories. One of the classmates is often (or always) some "celebrity" in one field or another. That's why they were sitting as pupils in a classroom setting.
And in this class there are several people who became famous.
This whas on dutch tv and from a long time ago.😊
Rammstein vocalist Til Lindemann is also a very shy and introvert person in private life; on stage he owns the audience.
When Floor cries, we all cry.
And now you’re a TRUE Nightwish fan. You understand, you get it. Welcome to the Army!
-NW Army, western NC Battalion
appreciate that
Floor has Unicorn high heel shoes.
To put things into perspective:
This is the reunion of the class of 199-something of the Rock-Academy. (actually the first class of the academy). So that's why it is in a classroom setting...it's the format. Special about this episode is that it is not about one famous person (as usual), but several people are famous, due to the nature of the school.
Also Metal is just NOT a thing in the Netherlands. It's a niche-thing for weird people and the majority of people have only heard 3 songs of Metallica and 1 from Guns 'n Roses...and that is Metal to them. People in the Netherlands have never heard of Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Blackbriar, Ayreon and other world famous (partly) Dutch Metal bands. So the guy could try to explain Nightwish more specific, but due to lack of comparison it to it would not succeed.
So weird we have the best female Metal singers in the world and yet they can walk our streets without anyone knowing who they are. (Although Simone and Floor don't live in the Netherlands anymore)
Sadly, they're no longer touring. They had to cancel their planned final concert in Oslo this summer due to Floor having health issues, so their final show was in Vaasa.
Official statement is that they will work on and release a new album likely next year, but that they won't be touring to support it 😢
But they didn't say they would never tour again.
Concerts are not the same as a World Tour. We may get a few concerts... :)
In the same class were also 2 other Dutch singers; Danny Vera (Rollercoaster) and the singer from Krezip (forgot her name at the moment)
Danny Vera (you can see him at 7min.10sec. in your reaction) and Jacqueline Govaert (from Krezip at 7.16). They recently released a song together: "Make it a memory". ua-cam.com/video/1bzpJ-L5WOQ/v-deo.html&start_radio=1
BTW: the drummer of Krezip (also in the video) is currently drumming with U2 in Las Vegas :-0
Floor is actually a better person than singer......as far as seeing them live ....its going to be unfortunately a long time , first they have to record the New Album , which is practically done , just waiting ( were all waiting ) for Floor to give birth to her 2nd child and when shes ready she'll do the vocals ......but they're not going to tour the Album , going to take some time off .....so who knows when theyll be back .
Sadly it will be a long wait but when they do tour I will book the tickets as soon as they become available I must see them again
Here´s to hope, maybe we even might see Marko on the comeback on some concerts...
I seen them at the Radius last year there is a video someone put up that is pretty good

Hey loren floor Jansen and simone Simons are best frend s and both was born ln the Netherlands Simone Simons sing bye Epica and floor Jansen sing bye Nightwish they are best frends
I think Floor kinda saved Tuomas and Nightwish a lil bit
in the beginning the band stole hotel items for her... boards and buckets saying "Caution!! Wet Floor!!" In the docu "Please learn the 90 minutes setlist in 48 hours..about her stepping into the Band as replacement vocalist. You see them presenting her one of these two sided boards.. and later she actually uses such a bucket as her "traveling bag" and a bootshaft hangs over the rim and some sleeves of her blouse in the bucket sways in the wind while she walks by :)

I would love an reaction from the TRISTANIA song My lost Lenore! I liked their female singer Vibeke Stene very much! For me they are one of the founders from the symphonic metal genre.
I've always thought of Tristania as gothic metal, and yes, they are one of the pioneers of this genre. Symphonic metal is very bombastic, it's basically film soundtrack music mixed with power metal. Gothic metal is more like doom metal with lots of keyboards, violins etc.
Hard to put into words how or what people are drawn to Floor. Her skill is part of of course but she as a person and her presence on stage just draws you in. She such a down to earth person with little to no outward ego. She's the singer of her generation and she wears it well.
