      Happy New Year oheyjelly and Mr. P! Congratulations on successfully climbing Mt Gede 👏 You guys are so awesome. The view from summit is breath taking. Did you manage to see many stars?

      @@tobyteng7522 Happy new year to you too! We were pleasantly surprised by the meadow/ summit view but we didn't manage to see many actual stars since it was raining/foggy overnight. @oheyjelly probably saw more stars during her Gede descent 😅 🌟

      @@tobyteng7522 Hello!! Hope you're having a great new year so far! ☺Thanks for your continuous support, encouraging comments, and for watching our vlogs 🤗.
      The summit view and spending the night at the edelweiss meadow were the highlights of the hike 😂...the descend hike was just painful and slow (for me and my poor knees). I had hoped to do some star-gazing at night at the base camp, but it kept raining and raining. Even when Alwina and I stepped out of our tents for a bit to "explore", it was so foggy that we couldn't see anything in the skies. 🥲 Perhaps we'll do another hike in 2024 so that I can check it off my "bucket list" of star-gazing on a hike! 😛

    Two hiking poles FTW!

      Yaaa, I really think I need to get myself two hiking poles soon 😆

      @@oheyjelly I also use two hiking poles. I keep my hiking poles in a plastic drawing tube I got from Art Friend and check them in for my flight. Easy to carry around too 🙂

      @@tobyteng7522 That's a great tip haha! Problem is we don't buy check-in luggage all the time, so hiking poles in carry-on bags are a security checkpoint issue 😩

    @2:13 arrow pointing at Mr P and his namesake mountain⛰
    Between the hot springs and our lunch at~@7:15, we passed by a mini waterfall, had bakso at a pitstop and reached a lake. There was still a stretch of log paths after before we got to the exit and back onto our van. Reasonably, it would take about 7-8 hrs slow descend from summit to van, depending on how long you take at each rest stop.
    Hopefully our tips helped, if you have any qns feel free to pop them in the comments section below. Thanks again for watching our vlog 🥃

    Is it doable for a 60 year old man? Thanks for sharing. Informative.

      Hello there! Thanks for watching our vlog & joining the @oheyjelly UA-cam fam! I would say that hiking Mount Gede is generally less physically-taxing compared to Mount Kinabalu. There were some really steep terrain, but it's doable with more breaks in between and staying hydrated. There are also options to go slower, different routes, camp more nights etc, as long as it's communicated with your guide beforehand.
      If you're a 60-year-old who is relatively fit, exercises regularly e.g. hiking, climbing, running, strength training etc, I'd say that you're probably fitter than me (and most other youths!). 💪

      @saidkhan538 hello there, thanks for watching our vlog. To add on to Jelly’s reply, POS 1-2 was more gradient slope, and the steepness really sets in from POS 3-5 (imagine double stairs for at least an hour). That said, the hike being less famous and the camping in a pretty impressive edelweiss meadow was certainly worth it!

    What was the entrance fee?

    • @tzew
      @tzew 8 місяців тому +1

      @harley_mason hello there, thanks for watching our vlog. We understand the entrance fee for Cibodas gate (where we entered) is Rp155k. Foreigners will have to get a guide and it’s typically included into the package price. Hope this helps, have a good hike 🏔️

      @@tzew thank you, is it the law for foreigner to get a guide? I can't go without one?

    • @tzew
      @tzew 8 місяців тому +1

      @@harley_mason we were told that it is mandatory for foreigners to get a guide and chances are that if you appear without one at the entrance office, they may ask you to hire one on the spot. That said, given that most climbers are locals familiar w the area + for safety purposes (especially if camping overnight), we would strongly suggest anyone to get a packaged tour with a guide. It may cost a little extra, but it’s worth paying to reduce the risk.

      Hello there! Thanks for watching our vlog! Yes, we left Mt. Gede base at 3pm and only reached back to Jakarta around 8pm. Dinner was our priority since we were all hungry, so we dropped our bags at the hotel and went for dinner straight haha.
