See and hearing a explanation of the dice roll and strategies and abilities been explained is best. To many battle reports cut away from that part and that's for me 90% of the game. So good job.
Guy does great battle reports. You feel like your getting a good overview of everything that happens and you don't need to sacrifice half your afternoon to watch it
I feel like most battle reports stretch on too long without showing anything of value. These ones and 40k in 40minutes are some really good ones though

@@wiccanthropy1956 Deathguard don't actually have a Start Collecting kit; they'll either have to use parts of the Dark Imperium box side or parts of the Infection Cluster box set (has no HQ). Dark imperium lacks their powerhouse weapons (no blight launcher, no flails),

Nah, i think that would go against the entire point of this series. This is start collecting boxes, not multiple start collecting boxes or most of a start collecting box. Just consider it as highlighting how unfair Games Workshop is in their products. And thematically appropriate that Guard gets roflstomped

Just something I noticed, I loved that after the match you added blood to the terrain where the Khorne demons died so that finally after all the battles this table will be covered in battle scars and blood. Great work Guy

Well since there are only 10 models in the Tyranid box, and Genestealer wargear options are kind of limited, we can be pretty sure they're going to bring it as a Trygon Prime because why not?
First opponent is Nurgle demons?
If so that's funny, because those are the two start collecting boxes I ended up getting.
But if it is against Nurgle, I think the fight will go similar to how it went here, with the Trygon Prime being a bit too much for the Plague Drones, unless they get lucky.
Since it takes up a decent chunk of the army, I'd make sure it stays effective by giving it Dermic Symbiosis, rather than giving the Broodlord a Warlord trait.
Even without though, the Nurgle box has even less wargear options, and is going to be almost 60 points down.
But Genestealers are pretty much too fast to not attack first.
I imagine those glass cannons will tear a bunch apart before the Trygon gets to do much...unless Nurglings are placed carefully. Nurglings are hilarious.

Orks vs Khorne has got to be one of the most fun, screw-the-tactics-let's-fight matchups, and I can't think of anyone better than Dave for such a game. Fantastic start to the series!

I can’t help but feel like Orks had a big advantage here. Maybe the khorne daemons could have built the blood throne as a skull cannon and a herald of khorne on foot, it would have been more even?

Here's what I think.
It looks like they're against the Nurgle box, and demons don't really have much for wargear options.
While the Tyranids can get to 500 points, the Nurgle one can only get to like 440.
I think they'll probably do what people do with Genestealers and rush them across the board immediately.
The glass cannons they are might do some decent damage, depending what they engage, but it's possible for the group of 3 Nurgling models to eat all of the damage and come out with a model still alive.
So it really depends what they engage.
I think I'd take Extended Carapace with the Genestealers, and play them a bit more slowly because that Nurgle army doesn't really have any shooting. The main goal, I'd say, would be protecting the Trygon Prime as it makes its way up, that thing has a 12 shot weapon which can definitely help output some wounds on the Disgustingly Resilient Nurgle demons.
I'd want the Prime to engage at the same time as the rest of the army, rather then be left in the dust and end up the last model standing against a swarm.
The Nurgle stuff only has a movement speed of 5, except the Plague Drones, don't see a reason to rush it.
I'd also probably buff the prime with Dermic Symbiosis, since its point cost is like 2/5 the army, and it's the most durable thing the Tyranids have at that point.
Otherwise I think you're just hoping your damage goes through demonic invul, AND disgusting resilience.
But I play both armies, I wouldn't count on getting lucky against that durability.
I still think the Nids will win pretty easily on that one.
I think it will go largely like this fight here.

The idea of blood splattering on the battlefield on were fights happened is a really cool idea to give an arena some character.
Wohoo! I just bought my start collecting t'au box and i'm waiting to willing myself enough to start painting it....but reading the manual and binge-watching battle reports around for roughly two years i believe they are strong contestant for the win!
Only if the crisis suites are built with the weopons in mind. The fire warriors are gonna drop. Due to the small map melee is gonna happen and tau gonna die. I'm a tau player and I know what the sad truth is...

To be fair that's what everyone suggests you do with it so u can play.
I remember when orcs didn't even have vehicle kits u were just expected to convert all of them... So it's in keeping with their kitbash spirit tbh
The problem is that there is literally no generic Warboss plastic kit, so using a guccied out boss nob is your best bet there...

@@cromcraft3494 it would be cool if gw had a more sandboxy approach to their character models. Instead of a monopose character with an alternate head at best, they should make them more customizable out the box, similar to the old SM Captain kit

Man! I love you added the bloodstains on the board after the game...so the battleground will evolve with the blood of the defeated throughout the series. Thoughtful little detail. Great work!
Love how you were able to make a Warboss out of the Boss Nob. It's what I enjoy about Orks, you can convert so much of their models into other units so easily.
Calling finals early *CSM* vs *VSM* Those kits have some insane value. The two obliterators + venom crawler are going to run amok on the anti-infinity units most starting kits have.
Agreed, almost certainly going to come down to those two simply due to the sheer amount of stuff in each box.

@@janp5063 As a big CSM guy, I was heavily disappointed. Keeping the Crawler at the back instead of moving it up to take fire? (He didn't keep his orc machine back in this battle report) Forgetting about Hateful assault for the extra attacks? Not using a single stratagem other than re-roll? Not deepstriking the obliterators. Hell, not even giving them a mark of slaanesh and using Endless Cacophony. That's their bread n butter! Not to mention the split charges by the greater possessed. Oof.
It does make me worried other start collecting boxes will suffer the same fate.

The GP buffs also the shooting of the Venomcrawler and the MoP gives him some rerolls.
Guy, long day and I opened UA-cam planning to stick something slow and mellow on in the background while I cut out from Ork sprues, but then spotted this in my subscriptions and honestly so happy to have it to watch! Cheers.

This is such a great freaking idea. This might finally convince some of my friends to give the game a try with some low Start collecting investment. Right now they thought having a fun game was only possible at at least 1000 or 2000 points, hope thise changes their mind

the basic Custodes box has a troops unit, an elite and an HQ, it's a little mini-Start Collecting box all on its own! :)

I alerted my housemate with a high pitched "DAVE" squeal, I was a huge MWG fan back in the day but started to lose interest with the numerous hosts... only occasionally popping up recently with the hosts I gelled better with. Dave was always a sweetheart though so hearing his intro it took me a couple of seconds thinking "Wait... I know this voice... BUT FROM WHERE!?" Ah. I was so happy./
I like all of the current crew at MWG Studio's. They seem like upstanding guys and they do love their factions.

Astra Militarum is going to get wrecked. They have the worst start collecting box. Maybe you guys should give them 2 since the SC has such low point values.
imo should combine start collecting AS with tempestus scions
well, they could go tank ace tank commander and backfield hold the obj with it (Punisher cannon or battle cannon for most effect I reckon) . Then build the troops as standard with a heavy weapons team (Maybe Auto cannon as it's effective against most things) and bog down the mid field with them supported by the Commisar. It's not much but it could work, specially with the tank ace ordering itself every turn, plus you can give it triple Las cannons or heavy bolters depending on the situation

@@andrewofarkansas2121 they aint, they going against Slaanesh daemons. SO they probably lose considering the speed and the amount of attacks Slaanesh units get.

@@coalitionofrob436 All the daemon boxes and the imperial guard box are the first ones that come to mind. I love the series concept but it's kinda unbalanced when CSM genuinely have a 700pt box. I feel like it should be "make a 500pt army focused around a sc box"
@@tomhughes1055 I think a leman russ with 2+ save from the tank ace and sponson multi meltas with the new rules (for example) might do alright!!
@@danza71 Yeah you may have a point there! Quite a few SC boxes would have a tough time dealing with that for sure. The daemon boxes on the other hand...not so much

I don't play/collect Warhammer or know the rules, nor do I generally watch battle reports for any games, I'm usually just here for the painting tips. But somehow I find myself here, watching and enjoying this. I think it's the snappy presentation, camera work, and lively narration. Great stuff! Also, super glad to have Penny in a video again, even as briefly as she speaks here. Her cheeky comments and animated personality are a real boon to your already great vids!
I appreciate all of this, it's awesome.. only thing I can say, having 1 straight line of sight down the middle across all objectives is.. questionable. Still all of the rule changes make it kind hard to guess who will do the best, shooty armys probably will get over run. My guess is DeathGuard in the finals! oh... wait xD

This was awesome. These battle reports are amazing, the best so far much better than the rambling vlog style that go on for hours. A great battle. This series really does show what you get in the starter set and what you can do with it. Great video and audio productions also.
