Unpopular opinion: there is no reason for beam choreo to be a thing in balance beam. I suspect the reason it’s there in the first place is because of gender stereotypes of women “acting pretty” in front of a camera. Do men have choreo requirements on pommel horse or parallel bars? No. Every single piece of choreo on every single beam routine I’ve seen in my life has been no more than a disruption of the flow of the routine. You can make a beam routine plenty elegant without a single piece of choreo. It’s literally just for show and nothing else. Have you seen elite gymnasts just slump down the beam and face plant and come back up just for the choreo requirement?
The sport is not called artistic gymnastics for nothing. The audience for women's gymnastics is at least double that of men's, precisely because the artistic factor is being respected, which is not the case with men's gymnastics. The problem is not that only women respect the artistic part, but that men do not. Regarding the choreography on the beam, there are examples of choreographies that work with the acrobatic part of the series. I could cite, for example, the choreographies of Larisa Iordache's beam, because they are functional as well as being beautiful. Now, one of the biggest problems with artistic gymnastics today is the stupid rules that have been imposed. For example, that gymnasts can no longer stay ''long enough'' in the corner of the floor to catch their breath before doing an acrobatic series.
The moonwalk was the best 🔥
Sweet!
Most of these choreographies are not good, in my opinion.
Unintentionally funny.
Not good? Just say they aren’t your preferred style (Eurocentric ballet).
@@tambam6744 it's not about ballet. It's about think about DETAILS and BODY AWARENESS, most of these choreo are not about.
