This album is so unique. I love it so much. The vibe of the entire album is just so awesome. Every song is so interesting and complex, of course, this complexity is nothing new.
Darby McNeill It’s a good album but is the least complex of all Muse albums. But complex doesn’t mean better, and this album has very good songs that reminded me a lot of the past Muse. I would like another album Drones in the future tho
Yeah its definitely the most ambitious/experimental album they have done, even more so the the 2nd Law. I'm just loving all the nods to classic Muse mixed with the 80's aesthetic.
That RATM-esque scratch solo in Break It To Me literally made my jaw drop when I first heard it. Favorite has to be either Algorithm or Blockades. I'm glad you agree with me on Get Up & Fight, it sounds very similar to Revolt but actually has a really interesting vibe going on.
Step 1: get hit by an avalanche of videos from Muse's official channel Step 2: listen to everything Step 3: watch Nightwalk's reaction :) Btw I absolutely LOOVE "Break it to me"!
Algorithm is a good introduction I think. It also sounds like a soundtrack The dark side is my favorite by far. I love Matt's voice in it, so much emotion Pressure is a good song, kinda funky, I like the brass instruments Propaganda is really really weird to me. Love the Prince vibes, the groove is awesome and his voice as well. But the propaganda part kinda ruins it for me a little bit. Break it to me is as weird as propaganda but i love how heavy it is and also the arabian-kinda influences. It grew on me Something human is, well I dont know. Its a good song, but not my favorite Thought contagion grew on my as well. Didnt like it at first, but I love it now. Get up and Fight is a good pop song, but its too cheesy for me and the lyrics arent the greatest. it almost sounds like a 2000's dance song or something. Blockades is up there with the dark side. The chorus could be a little better, but the guitar solo is so awesome. Its also a journey within the song which I love about Muse! The Void is a good closer. kinda like aftermath or the globalist in drones. very vulnurable. love that one as well. This is my opinion and it will probably change, like it always does with Muse. Nice to hear your opinion in this! I love the other half of the album, those other versions of the song are amazing! Also, like you said: everything I said is in context of Muse. Every Muse song is better than almost any other song by any other artist. :)
Thanks for al the likes guys! And totally forgot Dig Down, maybe that says enough :P Its not a bad song but it sounds like madness and i dont really like madness. its a dull moment in their liveshows. The gospel version is pretty awesome though!
This album just transitions so well. For example, the ending note of Something Human is the same as the first note of Thought Contagion. And the grooves in a majority of the songs are great. I also got into Muse after I went to one of their concerts last summer. Very happy to be able to share this moment with all of you guys!
Completely disagree. This album has the worst flow out of any Muse album IMO. None of the transitions are great, and SH into TC is just straight up bad, the songs don't fit next to each other without some sort of interlude thing.
@Nolan M. no, more like Queen. Muse and Queen like getting loud dramatic and climatic. Radiohead has songs like that, but more often than not, their music is more calm and relaxing. Also its funny that li oscar said songs are really unique unlike mainstream music. I would say Muse and Queen have a lot of pop sounding songs that appeal to the mainstream sound of their time, but they approach the song in a much more creative way.
First listen: ehh... not great Second listen: alright I’m kinda getting it now Third listen: Ok this is pretty dope Tenth listen: THIS MEANS WAAAAAAAR WITH YOUR CREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOR
Break It to Me: "I'll reinvent, I will re-emerge" Gives me small Space Dementia nods, like "Tear us apart, and make us meaningless again" Anyone else hear this?
Have to disagree with your opinion on track 1, the intro was perfect...the buildup was epic, all those cosmic layers. Immediately takes you to another plane, the Muse plane. The rest of your views were pretty spot on though imo, always enjoy listening to your thoughts, I appreciate your passion :)
I personally liked the album BUT I completely hate get up and fight, with those female pop vocal.... I like pop but when it's like Undisclosed Desires, not that commercial. I loved the other tracks though (a part from something human, but the acoustic was good). My favs are algorhytm alternative and the void and the dark side.
Totally agree, I wouldn't have thought that there could be a worse song than Dig Down (god damn Dig Down even grew on me) and here it is, Get up and Fight, 30 second to Mars meets Muse...
I like the female vox, I hate the chorus. Goodness. The subject is just one I find to be annoying. Honestly break it to me is the main song I hadn’t heard prior to today that I thoroughly enjoyed
I don't hate it, and I don't hold it against Matt if he wants to dabble in pop, but it was definitely the weakest track on the album. Dig Down grew on me big time tho and the gospel version sounds like a Showbiz track to me.
Drones was awesome, but Simulation Theory is over the top. I'm in love with the experimental tint they put in here, even if there are songs that i dislike (GUAF is not my kind, but i can recognise its beauty). Also everytime i listen to The Dark Side (Alternate Reality) i hear your voice, it just sounds like yours. 0:28 you would've said "supermassive muse fan".
Just realized you're the guy that does all the just videos and.... I didn't know you were such a new fan! I've been listening to these guys for 15 yes and it's awesome to see a newer fan get as stoked and actually understand their music and why/how they make it.
Great video! I think Matt said it best when he quipped that musers have a tendency not to get the songs for years, and then they love them. My first impression was that this is the best continuation of the sound that many Muse fans love most (OoS, Absolution, and BH&R [which I love but isn't as readily appreciated]), but with this quirky, innovative and unifying 80s theme. I'm amazed by the strength of the songs as singles, and it's pretty unique for an album to have a video for almost every track... not to mention all telling a segment of the same story!
I have always listened to Muse since middle school (I'm 26 years old now) but like you I started to be "obsessed" with them since The 2nd law and Drones, it was the first time that I waited for an album to drop. I pre-order it, mainly to have the possibility to pre-order the ticket for their live (I saw the Drones World Tour, absolutly fantastic) and I can say that I love this album, I just don't like a couple of songs (dig down and get up and fight), but for the other I can't say anthing bad, I love when they experiment. It's a breath of fresh air earing you do a positive review of the new album, we all now how die hard Muse's fans don't always appreciate this new style (don't get me wrong I love OOS, Absolution etc..., just as much as I love their most recent work too)
This album was also the first one muse released with me as a fan if you know what I mean. And I seriously sat up until 00.00 and waited for the release and I almost got a panic attack seriously I was so excited. i love this album whit all my heart!!!!
My thoughts on this album: is a great album, one of their most sperimental albums but with a common style behind every track (The 2nd Law was more experimental but there wasn't connection) Algorithm: 8/10 they couldn't choose a better opening, but it takes a bit too long to really start and evolve The Dark Side: 9/10 the only thing I'd like to hear here is some more drums (as you can see I'm a drummer) Pressure: 7/10 Let's roooock boiiiii!!! Something Human: 4/10 the acoustic version is waaaaaaaay better Thought Contagion: 8/10 always loved it, too repetitive but still nice Get Up and Fight: 3/10 sorry... I can't... Blockades: 10/10 Everything is perfect in this song, and is Muse in his pure essence Dig Down: 6/10 it's really genuine and evolves amazingly, but I can easily get tired of it Void: 8/10 they couldn't choose a better ending, it's dark as hell and I love that (That was MY opinion) The bonus tracks make the album even better
I've only listened to it once but... damn, this album is good. So many genres and song types blended together more seamfully than The 2nd Law and I just adore ST's production and sound. I adored Drones but find this to be an appropriate followup, combining OoS-esque ideas and songs with BH&R instrumentation mixed with modern production. In a few more listens time this will be up there amongst my favourite Muse albums. My ranking of the songs- 1. Blockade 2. The Dark Side 3. Algorithm 4. The Void 5. Propaganda 6. Break It to Me 7. Pressure 8. Though Contagion 9. Get Up and Fight 10. Something Human 11. Dig Down
My personal rankings are: 1_ The Dark Side 2_ Blockade 3_ The Void 4_ Algorithm 5_ Break It to Me 6_ Propaganda 7_ Thought Contagion 8_ Pressure 9_ Get Up and Fight 10_ Dig Down 11_ Something Human All those songs are great as fuck, but 'Something Human' felt pretty weak. GUAF and Dig Down are both good songs.
My ranking at the moment is: 1. Algorithm 2. The Dark Side 3. Blockades 4. The Void 5. Pressure 6. Thought Contagion 7. Break It to Me 8. Something Human 9. Propaganda 10. Dig Down 11. Get Up and Fight
Spent the entire day with this album on repeat. Safe to say, it was a VERY good day. Every second of it. Not a single song on the album I dislike, and not one I don't love!
The album have tons of self references of all albums themes and bass lines i dont understand the people that say this is not the muse sound a lot of references of exogenesis, united states of eurasia, ruled by secrecy, bliss .... etc but all of them taken to a next level
This album is soooooo good! I discovered Muse after Drones too, so it was the first album i listened as a fan. A fantastic experience, even though I had, like you, some wtf moments during Propaganda and Break it to me. Actually I think ST may be my fifth favorite Muse album after OOS, BHAR, Absolution and T2L. And one thing for you, Nighty. In a reaction video the comunication with the viewer is super important, and if you cover your eyes with those "glasses", you kill it!
Blockades is just a perfect combination of all the new things they tried with the album and the old classic Muse. This song will be the best moment in the new tour, I can imagine some impresive visuals to go with it... AWESOME.
I only became aware of Muse after Drones, too, so this is also my first new Muse album. Also, what actually did you do to that poor cat? 🙀 Also also, we need a whole video of you lip-syncing to various Muse song bits.
I love your positivity, so refreshing. This album is awesome by the way, and I love how they worked on all the visuals. Will you react to break it to me and algorithm videos?
2:32 : That "Uuh" is literally the perfectly summarized reaction to Muse's music and Bellamy's vocals. I felt that so hard that I automatically started smiling
i agree, this album is great, i don't know what i was expecting, but i tried to not get my hopes up just in case. I can't get enough of it, i need to hear these songs live.
I agree with you in your top, but I also loved Algorithm, mainly the Alternate Reality Version. The Dark Side ARV and The Void Acoustic are also absurdly amazing!! I feel like Propaganda and Break it to Me are good songs, but they still have to grow on me. I'd put Thought Contagion slighty higher than those two. By now my top 5 would probably be: 1 - Blockades 2 - The Void / The Void Acoustic 3 - Algorithm / Algorithm ARV 4 - The Dark Side / The Dark Side ARV 5 - Pressure
Here's my theory about in what order to watch music videos: 1. Dig down - an introduction to the world. We really don't know whats happening 2. Pressure - we see someone (Matt) putting on a VR-set and going into simulation where this creatures take over and turn everyone into vampires. 3. Thought contagion - we realize that "Dig down" was an arcade game (i.e. simulation), and we see the guy who was the only one who escaped from school in "Pressure", also vampires are taking over which means that we are still in simulation (Which means that "Dig down" is a simulation inside a simulation...?!). Also we see the scene at the end hinting that Matt is a werewolf. 4. Break it to me - we're back to school from "Pressure". People are going crazy and stuff. 5. Something human - Matt is taking off the VR-set and drives to return the VHS tape. The cop from "Thought contagion" and his partner (Dom and Chris) are chasing him because he is a werewolf. He escapes into a parallel dimension (a simulation) 6. The dark side - Matt continues his journey. 7. Algorithm - possibly happening parallel to "The dark side". The teacher from "Pressure" (Terry) has figured out that he is in simulation and breaks out and destroys it (maybe).
Interesting to hear a "new" fan's take on the album. I was never a huuuuuuge fan of Drones (don't get me wrong, im a huuuuuuuuuuge muse fan), but ST is really growing on me, which is good. Having listened to Muse since Showbiz, their evolution and constant will to move forward has always impressed me.
Blockades foi a minha favorita desse álbum, é a banda em essência. Muse nunca decepciona! A que menos gostei foi Get Up and Fight , mas o refrão é muito bom! Blockades/The Dark Side/Pressure, essas são as 3 melhores do álbum
Top imo: 1. Blockades 2. The Void 3. Algorithm 4. The Dark Side 5. Break it to me 6. Thought contagion 7. Propaganda 8. Pressure 9. Something human 10. Get up and fight 11. Dig down
You're so excited hahahah, like me when I was listening to this album :-). Especially while listening to the Blockades, it was so sincere and sweet. Excellent video.
The needledrop is going to hate this album, however, he STILL believes Muse is a wannabe Radiohead. In other words, he still makes the comparison that became obsolete over 10 years ago. His opinion no longer holds value on this subject. Edit: This album kicks ass FYI
Simulation Theory Tracklist Take a Bow part 2 The Dark Side Supermassive Black Hole part 2 Young and Menace Filthy Disney Channel Thought Contagion Taylor Swift Map of the problematique part 2 Madness part 2 Exogenesis symphony 4 Edit - this isn’t a roast. I do like a lot of the songs. The only one that I don’t like is Get up and fight, which is easily my least favorite one from them. Revolt and Guiding light is 8000x better for me. I actually liked Revolt. I actually like Dark side, pressure, propaganda, and thought contagion more than blockades. It sounds heavy but also felt like a mess imo.
I was there for the realises for “the 2nd law” and “drones” but this album got me hyped way more then them put together and its just such a great album, i managed to get to listen to it early cuz it was posted early for British pre orders for some reason idk why. Alot of the songs are very different but different in a good way, i think the only weak track is propaganda in my opinion. The best tracks i think are algorithm, the dark side, pressure, thought contagion, get up and fight and the void.
Great reaction! The second time I heard it it growed on me even more, especially with the alternate reality versions. This album is a real masterpiece, I'm honestly obsessed with every song. It think this might be one of my favorite muse albums
You're in the position i was in with Radiohead! I only got into them after TKOL, so AMSP was my first *new* album and after Burn The Witch and Daydreaming i was super hyped and ended up buying the super deluxe version for that album, which didn't come for 4 months!
Day 2: break it to me is still in my head. I really am amazed this band transports me to a different world when I’m listening to them. That’s why they are the best ever (in my opinion). So glad just to be a part of this awesome simulation!!

I like the album. Some songs are hit and miss for me, but it is cool to see the band experimenting :)

That’s just ridiculous

The Dark Side is a close 2nd for me. Blockades is incredible.
I can't get over how the verse mimics the verse in MK Ultra.
Nah The Handler felt new, Blockades is recycling early 2000s. Nothing new.
Fantano: Worst track on the album
YES I TOO LIVE FOR MUSE PIANO
That RATM-esque scratch solo in Break It To Me literally made my jaw drop when I first heard it. Favorite has to be either Algorithm or Blockades. I'm glad you agree with me on Get Up & Fight, it sounds very similar to Revolt but actually has a really interesting vibe going on.

4_ Algorithm
5_ Break It to Me
6_ Propaganda
7_ Thought Contagion
8_ Pressure
9_ Get Up and Fight

4. The Void
5. Pressure
6. Thought Contagion

love your profile pic
1.06 I'm laughing this is exactly what I think right before listening to new music by my fav bands
Chronically Ch'ill' yep pretty much😂
Cat doesn’t like muse anymore you go insane
Dude your voice is fantastic, loving those glasses bro. Quality channel
Edit: 11:11, my reaction to the entire album
Spent the entire day with this album on repeat. Safe to say, it was a VERY good day. Every second of it. Not a single song on the album I dislike, and not one I don't love!
Thanks guitar hero for gettimg me into Muse in 2006. (Knights Of Cydonia)
The album have tons of self references of all albums themes and bass lines i dont understand the people that say this is not the muse sound a lot of references of exogenesis, united states of eurasia, ruled by secrecy, bliss .... etc but all of them taken to a next level
Btw love your glasses where did you by them?
Guiding Light is a masterpiece
Blockades is the best!!!
They've never played Blockades live. The drums are identical to Map Of The P. Plus Guiding Light is an amazing track. Check it out live in Rome.
Propaganda is a really great song to be honest. Alternate version as well.
Guaf seems worse than revolt for me. It doesn't sound like Muse at all.
Get Up and Fight doesn't sound like Muse but Propaganda does? What?
yeah propaganda is hot
I agree Get Up and Fight is definitely not as good as Revolt... GUAF seems fake lol.
@@Tocaraca at least it has some supermassive black holes vibes on it, but guaf is just... that chorus..i cant bear that
I have to admit that I like GUAF tho
You are absolutely right muse is the best band that ever will exist
mr Holenweg Radiohead did it first, and better
WERE....last 2 albums are trash....
23:42... Now you just got chills...
Damn I assumed you were a lifelong fan. Lol I had a 3 year head start on you.
simulation theory is completely underrated and I love it.
One of my Favorite songs finaly , Dig Down, Algorithm, Something Human, The Void, The Dark Side
Blockades is just a perfect combination of all the new things they tried with the album and the old classic Muse.
This song will be the best moment in the new tour, I can imagine some impresive visuals to go with it... AWESOME.
Muse gave us bops 2018.
I only became aware of Muse after Drones, too, so this is also my first new Muse album.
Also, what actually did you do to that poor cat? 🙀
Also also, we need a whole video of you lip-syncing to various Muse song bits.
This is exactly my reaction to all these songs and all their songs really
Nice to see someone having a positive outlook on this album.
Who the HELL would have a negative outlook?
I was waiting for your reaction
11:11 you’re welcome
"Give it to me Matty Boy"
Nightwalk, 2018
I love your positivity, so refreshing. This album is awesome by the way, and I love how they worked on all the visuals. Will you react to break it to me and algorithm videos?
2:32 : That "Uuh" is literally the perfectly summarized reaction to Muse's music and Bellamy's vocals. I felt that so hard that I automatically started smiling
i agree, this album is great, i don't know what i was expecting, but i tried to not get my hopes up just in case. I can't get enough of it, i need to hear these songs live.
Highlights for me from this album:
"Algorithm" (both versions)
"The Dark Side"
"Pressure"
"Blockades"
"Dig Down" (both versions)
Definitely will be listening frequently to:
"Thought Contagion"
"Get Up and Fight"
"The Void"
Can you do How to write a song like muse, The Resistance
i would sell my soul for this video legit
Katie B it’s my second favourite from them
I agree with you in your top, but I also loved Algorithm, mainly the Alternate Reality Version. The Dark Side ARV and The Void Acoustic are also absurdly amazing!! I feel like Propaganda and Break it to Me are good songs, but they still have to grow on me. I'd put Thought Contagion slighty higher than those two. By now my top 5 would probably be:
1 - Blockades
2 - The Void / The Void Acoustic
3 - Algorithm / Algorithm ARV
4 - The Dark Side / The Dark Side ARV
5 - Pressure
WHAT Guiding Light is amazing.
Favorite songs are definitely Algorithm and Pressure. Break It To Me has also really grown on me.
I only recently got into muse about a month ago and I am OBSESSED! Glad to find someone who loves them as much as I do!
Like only for the cat
Yes, reminded me of that one Muse Spoof where the cat dances to 'Unsustainable'.
@@ThinWhiteAxe me too lol
Here's my theory about in what order to watch music videos:
1. Dig down - an introduction to the world. We really don't know whats happening
He escapes into a parallel dimension (a simulation)
6. The dark side - Matt continues his journey.
7. Algorithm - possibly happening parallel to "The dark side". The teacher from "Pressure" (Terry) has figured out that he is in simulation and breaks out and destroys it (maybe).
Where’d you get those glasses?
I was asking the same thing, WHERE!
Amazon
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013GKVQSA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AKX4PUL0YEZW2&psc=1 - FOUND THEM
Hayden S I WANT THEM!
Love your videos! I love your music too, and congrats on 20k subs! :)
I like how you called Pressure Supermassive Blackhole part 2
I always considered it Supermassive Blackhole + Panic Station
Interesting to hear a "new" fan's take on the album. I was never a huuuuuuge fan of Drones (don't get me wrong, im a huuuuuuuuuuge muse fan), but ST is really growing on me, which is good. Having listened to Muse since Showbiz, their evolution and constant will to move forward has always impressed me.
the void, blockades, algorithm and algorithm (alternate reality) are MASTERPIECES
Blockades foi a minha favorita desse álbum, é a banda em essência. Muse nunca decepciona! A que menos gostei foi Get Up and Fight , mas o refrão é muito bom!
Blockades/The Dark Side/Pressure, essas são as 3 melhores do álbum
Top imo:
1. Blockades
2. The Void
3. Algorithm
4. The Dark Side
5. Break it to me
6. Thought contagion
7. Propaganda
8. Pressure
9. Something human
10. Get up and fight
11. Dig down
Also, in Get Up And Fight, the woman is Tove Lo
Oooh. It's her then.
Either Dark Side or Pressure I thought he found pretty entertaining, no?
Ian Fitzpatrick he said he enjoyed pressure, but if he expects an album with a lot of the exact same sound as pressure, he isn’t going to get it
HE HATES BLOCKADES
has he ever said that Muse is wannabe Radiohead?:o
Simulation Theory Tracklist
Take a Bow part 2
The Dark Side
Supermassive Black Hole part 2
Young and Menace
Filthy
Disney Channel
Thought Contagion
Taylor Swift
Map of the problematique part 2
Madness part 2
Exogenesis symphony 4
Edit - this isn’t a roast.
It's treason then.
From 0:00 to 00:10 my mom thought I was watching porn O_O xD
this is auditive porn, so she was right.
You're in the position i was in with Radiohead! I only got into them after TKOL, so AMSP was my first *new* album and after Burn The Witch and Daydreaming i was super hyped and ended up buying the super deluxe version for that album, which didn't come for 4 months!
The Dark Side alternate ending is AMAZING
Day 2: break it to me is still in my head. I really am amazed this band transports me to a different world when I’m listening to them. That’s why they are the best ever (in my opinion). So glad just to be a part of this awesome simulation!!
Love the album, it literally takes elements from every other album.
Get up and fight is like the cheesiest cheese of all cheese
Like the Moon in some cartoons?
FAQIvan91 lmao
