I lived a block from this place, homeless folks were always climbing the fence and camping out... we used to climb the chain link fence and go swimming in pan pac pool...
Such a shame this old lady went down in the middle of indifference from those who could have saved this iconic building from a period in which Creativity was king, Elegance the queen and the USA rather a kingdom than a republic.
It was also used for the 1980 Movie Xanadu. It's too bad this Beautiful Building was destroyed by fire on May 24, 1989.
it"s crazy how a place I have never been and will never get to see holds a special memory in my heart because of a movie.
Someone needs to rebuild it. It looks awesome. I had never heard of this building until I saw a picture of it on another video.
Not to worry! They are planning to make a World war 2 museum there by 2030!
