Detailed, well prepared and patient explanation by an experienced gentleman.
If I were living in UK, I will definitely buy the piano from you that I am currently looking for . Because the perfection of this video demonstrates how you will be helpful at support phase after the purchase. Because when I intent to buy any electronic device I care support phase rather than the price or other things. By the way price is so reasonable for this device in UK market (I quickly investigate it and compared with some other sites🙂 )
Thanks for putting all answers I'd like to ask.
I'm so glad that someone finally put a "gear shift" pedal on a piano. LOL.
I live in the U.S. and unfortunately cannot purchase this model piano form this nice person, but I am acquiring one here due largely to his videos. I hope to receive it this week.
Awesome and precisely explained! My 9 year old got this piano ready to start just watching this video. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. Aloha from Laguna Beach, California!
This was really detailed and helpful. Thank you
You're welcome, Jessica. Thanks for commenting, it really helps me learn what type of videos are useful to people.
Thank you so much for your rapid reply to my question.
Well done and you got me good on that left pedal joke. 🤔😄😎
Great clarity to explain. Love it. Strongly recommend.
I really enjoyed the way you did that. Kudos brother.
I did scratched my head on the left pedal joke....I'm glad he clarified that...i was thinking maybe a Leslie organ action???
thank you so much this was Great!!
Thank you so much
Thanks Woody.
I really enjoyed this video. It was very helpful and detailed. Thank you.
Excellent presentation
Great answers and unlike most reviews you covered a lot of fundamental questions that are usually uncovered. In the construction of the body of the piano and the back panel, what is used under the veneer? Is it a solid wood or a chipboard/fibreboard construction?
Beautiful piano! Thanks!
Hi Chris thanks for your excellent guide to the CLP735. I just want to make one important correction: classical pianists constantly use the LEFT PEDAL to diminish and control the sound. It is an essential part of the instrument particularly when playing Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy etc etc the list goes on .....and on....So what I am saying is that the LEFT PEDAL is extremely important !
Incredible
Great vid lads, would love a in depth vid on the Clavanova 709, I know you have a few on line but sometimes would like to have a bit more , if there is anymore of course . Thanks 👍🇬🇧
Thanks Bally 1 - There is a much younger looking me showing off the CVP709 here: ua-cam.com/video/_IT3nfR6MGw/v-deo.html&t - I hope that helps a bit. We often have CVP709 in our preowned section so I'll see what I can do for you! - Take care now.
"Never ever put liquids on these by the way" XDXD
Very nice and informative video. Thank you very much!
Amazing video
Thank you so much for this viedo!
Hello Chris, thanks for the wonderful introduction of a great tool. There is one question: do you need stereo phones only from Yamaha or any high-quality headphones with a special adapter to listen through headphones? Thank You
Thanks Yuri. Any headphones will work, but I'd recommend getting a high-quality set to really appreciate the nuances of the piano sample.
I would to know about the connections next to the headphones connections
Thank you
Great video!!! but do people really need to ask “where do i put my music book?”
I was shocked when you said clutch for gear.. i was like really we have gears on piano!! 😅😅
Which one would you recommend between CN 29 and CLP 735?? And why?
12:35 as a non-EN native you had me for a moment!
Thanks for the review - had a question about the USB port. Is it USB midi - meaning if I plug it to my laptop I'll be able to play VST instruments?
And is it possible to use the internal speakers as an output for my laptop?
Thanks Alessio - Yes, it has MIDI in and out so you could use it as a controller if you wanted. And yes, you can go out to external speakers too. Take care now.
Is there any storage space inside it, so that I can store my 5 inch studio monitors hidden inside ?
It's a M-Audio BX5 D3 Studio monitor pair.
Hello, Thank you so much for your detailed review. I wanted to ask you if it is easy (or even possible) to de- assemble it, move it (possibly in deliver it elsewhere in the world) and re assemble it. Thank you
Can you record your played song on that USB connection port? I guess you got the best audio then since it goes directly from the piano to usb, and there is no mic between recordings with noisy sounds and keys being pressed.
If possible could you list the additional sounds that are there to choose from .. I bought a korean digital piano... (Online) Asked if it has a choir or voice sound and it didn't have. My Old digital Yamaha from 6 years ago. (Fantastic Quality).. Has this sound.. Just hoping you havent taken it out of the sortiment in the new 745
Excellent video! Question: can I pluge my microphone and sing along with the piano?
Hi, good explanation from you.
I plan to buy CLP-735, after looking at Yamaha store in my city, CLP-735 type is no longer sold in that store, as a replacement is CLP-835, but they do not have a sample unit that I can try or compare, because it is still a new release, but if I want to buy it they have stock.
Do you think I should just buy CLP-835 without trying it?
The price is almost the same as CLP-735, around USD $1,632 (rosewood or black color) in Indonesia.
I did not find any review about CLP-835 anywhere at this time.
Maybe you have tried it, if it is better than CLP-735 then I will buy it immediately, because there are only 2 in stock
Thank you
Hello, I am an Italian pianist. Thank you for your video!
I have a question: in the CLS 735 model where are the L+R outputs? In the video I can't see them
Do all the 3 Pedals funktion as they should be???
Is there not a more compact model of this piano with all the same features? I need something less deep and less tall due to limited space. Surely most of the internals of this piano is just empty space.
Take a look at this model: www.epianos.co.uk/yamaha-p525-portable-piano-with-grandtouch-s-keys/
Hi! Which one would you recommend between CLP 735 and Roland RD88?
Can i use wifi headset for CLP735? Thanks
Also deciding between Clavinova CLP 735 and a Roland RP 701. Any suggestion on which is the best option?
Thanks for the detailed information!👍
Could you please throw some light on the USB feature? Is it possible to record pieces directly on USB stick (pen drive) ?
Thanks a lot!!🙌
Hi, thanks for the great video. The CLP 735 does not have bluetooth unlike the CLP 745. 1) What difference does this make when using a piano lesson app such as flowkey or playgrounds? 2) What difference does it make when using smart pianist app? Thanks!
For CLP 735, you need a cable to connect the piano to your smart device. Once connected (whether by cable or Bluetooth), everything works the same.
How would you compare the feel of the action on this versus the CLP-745? I know that the CLP-745 has the same action with wooden keys, but I'd like to know if you can actually feel the difference.
Oh yes, you certainly can. The wooden keys on CLP-745 are the key (no pun intended). They are still weighted and have a nice resistance to them, however they also have a lightness of touch which allows them to return quicker than plastic keys. Particularly handy when playing very fast passages. Hope that helps. Watch our CLP-745 video here: ua-cam.com/video/qK7ROxwA2uM/v-deo.html
Can I play midi files via usb stick?please.
Hi. Is Grand Touch-S a good action for yamaha's digital pianos?
How much difference is between graded Hamer Small (GHS) action and Grand Touch-S ?
And which one is more recommended for a beginner piano learner?
Hey :) What a lovely review!
Would you recommend buying the CLP645 over the CLP735? Thank you 🙏🏻
That's a really good question! (note for anyone else reading: The CLP645 was the previous edition of the CLP745 so is no longer manufactured ). The CLP645 had wooden keys so I'd find that really attractive compared to the CLP735's plastic keys. If I was offered a brand new one from a box I'd probably go for CLP645 for that reason. If it was a preowned one I'd be more reluctant as you don't know how it's been treated. (unless it's been refurbished, serviced, and has a long warranty, like the preowned pianos we sell!) in which case I'd go for a new CLP735. Hope that helps!
Hi Chris, Thank you for such a good walk through. One question I am bit embarassed to ask is, will you recommend this to an middle aged adult absolute beginner with no prior piano experience nor any musical instrument. Is this a far sophisticated expensive product to be wasted on me? I ask purely because these come in India at a premium price. Thank you in advance.
Do I need to buy a piano chair separately? And can I record sounds from the piano on my pc?
My son just started learning piano so we are considering buying the Yamaha CLP 735. However, the shop assistant told us that you cant pass 5th grade exam by just practicing on a digital piano. Is that true? I know it's still a long way as he just started but does it really mean we need to switch to an acoustic piano later? What's stopping them passing higher piano exams when practising on a digital piano? is this just an old theory because of the older mechanism of digital pianos?
Thank you for the video! Can you connect it to a Genos and enjoy Super Articulation 2 voices, hundreds of styles to play with, Vocal Harmony, Revo Drums, just like a CVP809 would do by itself?
I have a question : can you add some instruments to the piano (like make a new folder with some personal instrument because for example the piano can't play like a saxophone or something like that)?
No, you can't do that, but you can use the CLP735 as a MIDI controller and access VST instruments via a PC or MAC.
Have you done a comparison between the CLP and CSP series?
Hi, do you think I should get the 735 or 745? Ik the 745 has better feeling of the keys but is it worth more money?
Hi Bukayo Saka. CLP745 if you can stretch to it! - The wooden keys are absoultely wonderful to play.
How is it called the feature of having a chord or sound playing sustained by pedal and when stroking another key will make some harmonics of the sustained chord resonate? Does CLP 735 has it? If not, which current Clavinova model has it? feature?
Can the Yamaha smart pianist connect to the clp735
Can this piano be plugged into a sound system, a mixer board with speakers?
Which color is this one and do you have a preference on color?
Hey! I'm looking to get headphones for the Yamaha. Can someone please recommend me a pair that won't leak noise but that still feel very airy when playing with to them? So basically closed back that are as close to open back headphones feel.. I want a wide and natural sound with great separation but not too flat that I don't enjoy playing the piano.. I've heard some headphones have an issue with "string residence" sound. Any recommendations under $200 ? Thanks!
Hi, I am considering this or the new CLP-725. With the same action keys, do you think 735 worth the extra money?
Thanks sleepsseeep - I've just written a blog comparing the Yamaha CLP725 and CLP735. I hope it helps. Here it is: www.epianos.co.uk/yamaha-clp725-vs-clp735-comparison/
How sensitive is this digital to humidity? Should precautions be taken if one lives in a very humid environment?
Hi JoAnne. The main reason that traditional acoustic pianos are known to be sensitive to humidity is that it affects their tuning. Digital pianos do not go out of tune, therefore you don't need to worry about their environments, e.g. big changes in temperature. This is one of the reasons that digital pianos are becoming much more popular. They require essentially zero maintenance. I made a video about this here: ua-cam.com/video/zawnD82d0Ac/v-deo.html
Could you please tell me about the black matte keys? They have a sharp edge and somehow seem slimmer? Thankyou
How does this compare to the 930? Better or lower quality ? Great video!
Thanks so much Robin. I'm afraid to say that CLP930 has long been discontinued. In fact, it's around 20 years old (almost an antique in digital piano techology terms!). CLP735 is vastly superior in every way.
Hi Chris, great video thanks. I have been looking at this Yamaha CLP 735 as a potential upgrade to my Kawai KDP120 that I bought in November 2021. Could you give me three good reasons; (apart from the 30 watt speakers) why the CLP 735 is the right choice to replace my Kawai KDP 129. Or do you have an alternative recommendation? Many thanks, Steve
1. Yamaha make the most authentic weighted key mechanism
2. Yamaha's piano samples are superior
3. You can use the Yamaha Smart Pianist app with CLP735
See more about how the Yamaha Smart Pianist app works in this video: www.epianos.co.uk/tv/yamaha-p-s500-review-demonstration-buyers-guide/
Does the CLP-735 have 6.5 inch or 7.5 inch octaves?
How does the GrandTouch-S action on the CLP 735/745 compare in terms of weight to GH3X on, let's say, the CVP 701? I've heard conflicting opinions on which one is heavier. I'd try it myself but unfortunately nobody stocks the CVP 701 or any other GH3X Yamahas where I live. :(
Hi Andrius - GrandTouch is a good improvement on GH3X without a doubt. The key feels more balanced, which is particularly useful during quick-playing passages. Hope that helps.
Hi Sir, Clp 635 speaker quality is better than this?
Do you have to disassemble it to move it from one house to another, if necessary?
You can easily disassemble the CLP735 to move it around. That's one of the benefits of digital pianos. See our build video of the CLP725 for an idea of what's involved: ua-cam.com/video/hh12uG-in88/v-deo.html - Yes, you can lift it too if needed. Hope that helps!
Quali differenze con il vecchio Yanaha Clp 535???
Hi, thankyou for the review but I have a question. There was another review from a ytuber that said that the keys were smaller, is that true?
Hello... Thank you for the content a very useful... can I connect CLP 735 to smart pianist app and how please? I mean with cable or wireless....?
Hi Vladmir. We have just written a blog on our website about how to connect Yamaha CLP series to the SmartPianist app here: www.epianos.co.uk/how-to-use-bluetooth-with-yamaha-clp-digital-pianos/
What flashdrive do you recommend for a CLP 535 Clavinova?
Please please answer me ,i want to yamaha clp 35 or kawai ca59(kawai ca 59 cheaper than yamaha clp35 in my country,,but i cant choose,i dont know how i choose, which one best, please please someone answer me,
Hi, thanks for the video, could you please advise how to attach the iPad and Yamaha software
Yes! - We have just written a blog all about how to connect the Yamaha CLP series to iPad here: www.epianos.co.uk/how-to-use-bluetooth-with-yamaha-clp-digital-pianos/
I write here a request for recommendation because it is a new video even if does not concern this video. How is the stage piano "Alesis recital pro 88-key" vs "Yamaha p-45" and even "Yamaha p-125" and "kawai es110"? Could you make a review about it or give some feedback. I use to practice on acoustic piano. I am not a beginner but not a expert player either. I am looking for a stage piano I could practice home and with the possibility later to play with a band some jazz, blues, rock. I wish for weighted keys so I could continue improving my technique that would be transferable while playing on acoustic piano. But I have a limited budget so I am trying to find the most affordable solution. Thank you for your feedback and your actions. All the best - Luis
Hi Luis. Sure I can help a little bit. the Yamaha and Korg portable pianos are really good for what you describe. I made a video comparing the Yamaha P45 and P125 here: ua-cam.com/video/OMUYGbpRGZs/v-deo.html - They are probably the most popular portable pianos with weighted keys. Korg B2 is worth a look too here: www.epianos.co.uk/shop/korg-b2-in-black-piano/ - Good luck!
How do the CLP series with GrandTouch technology perform with rapid playing of repeated notes?
This is crucial and nobody even mentions it! I have an entry/middle level digital piano and it gets messy when playing notes rapidly, because those weighted keys are sluggish. Hopefully CLP series resolved this problem.
I've had no problem whatsoever with quick passages and repeat notes. The escapement mechanism on the CLP735 is a big improvement on older models. The recoil is really what I'd expect from a regular, acoustc piano.
Will this digital piano last more than 20 years?
Yes, if you treat it tenderly and say 'I love you' to it every day. But seriously, yes it'll last much longer than 20 years if you take care of it. Use the dust cover, keep liquids away from it etc
The reason I asked the life span of this piano is because I have owned two high-end digital pianos: a Roland (KR5500, I think) which lasted 15 years, and now I have a Kawaii Concert Performer CP155 which I bought in 2004. Both Roland and Kawaii started a crackling sound when turned on. It sounded like very loud fire crackers and I am afraid to turn it for fear that it might start a fire. After spending over $350 + dollars on repairs, i decided to let go of of the Roland. Now my Kawaii is doing the same thing...this is the reason why I am investigating a new digital piano with different voices, different beats, keyboard that will split for orchestral accompaniment, etc., and a touch-sensitive touch like a grand piano ( or somewhat close). I want to teach on the digital piano from time to time although I also hVe a Steinway Grand. Do you mind giving me an email to get in touch with you or a local guy in the Orlando, Florida, USA area. Thank you.
Hello, I have a question. This piano includes a music book, bank and headphones ? Hope you answer me. Wait your answer 🙂. Or someone can tell me please. Because I’m interested in buying one.
The Yamaha CLP735 comes with a sheet music book called '50 Greats For The Piano'. It contains 50 pieces of classical music of varying difficulty. The pieces are pre-recorded on the piano memory so you can hear, or play along with them. You can also split the left and right hand parts for induvidual practice. It doesn't come with headphones but we have several options here: www.epianos.co.uk/headphones/ and we give a discount if you're buying the piano from us too. I hope that helps Luis.
@@luisruiz5624 If you're asking whether the '50 greats' songs are recorded on the memory bank already, then yes, they are.
@@ePianoscouk Thank you for your answer. But I was wondering if the piano includes a stool for sit down. Thanks 😬
Sir how long the keys of this piano will last??
Yamaha really build these pianos to last and include a 5 year warranty. I've know people who have owned Yamaha Clavinovas for well over 20 years and they're still going strong. The thing that really impresses me is the way that Yamaha learn lessons from previous models and keep improving and making their digital pianos better and better, not just in terms of fuctions and features, but also how robust they are and how well they survive heavy levels of playing. They've built a great reputation by doing this. (note: We supply many different makes aside from Yamaha but they in particular have really impressed me with their efforts).
You're welcome@@melodychaserprabhjot7989 - I saw Sachin Tendulkar batting at Lords in 1996 and it was one of the greatest days of my life. Take care and enjoy the piano.
@@ePianoscouk which one would you recommend between CN 29 and CLP 735?? And why?
How to record the performance by Usb?
You can record a .wav file on this piano by inserting a USB stick. I often do this myself and the quality is very high.
Is the large flat piece at the back really necessary?
Yes, it actually has a big role in reflecting the sound back towards the player from the lower speakers.
Hi, can you compare in depth: Yamaha CLP 785 and Kawai CA 99 ?

Go for clp 735 bro!! The new samples of cfx and bosendorfer are completely re-recorded and you will definitely gonna love it.
@@melodychaserprabhjot7989 thank you brother, i was just thinking same about new CLP-735
Hi Piano Dude - Someone else asked me this question recently and this was my answer: That's a really good question! CLP-645 > CLP-735 because 645 has a great action with wooden keys while its speakers are also greater. It's a no-brainer, really.

Rien de non connu
Great content. But, lol, these questions that you addressed, I mean, this is like common knowledge people can just search online, why come through the trouble of making this video? no hate here, but I think these questions doesn't just apply to Yamaha CLP 735, again, it's common knowledge with a digital piano, so I think the name is misleading. I clicked on this video expecting something specific to this model, and I got something else entirely different.
Thanks V. Vu - I can't argue with what you say about all this information being available online. It absolutely is! However, in my experience of seeing people face-to-face in our showroom, questions like this come up frequently. Therefore I thought it would be useful to summarise them in a video. Plus I really wanted to help people (particularly seniors) that perhaps aren't as adept as you at researching these things online. No hate here either my friend, thanks for saying hi and for your feedback.
@@ePianoscouk I agree with V. Vu's comment. This video is great for learning how a digital piano works, but "What do the pedals do" and "can I control the volume," etc, aren't very helpful questions for *actual pianists* trying to determine the quality of *this particular* instrument against other similar ones, which is what the title of this video leads us to believe we'll hear.
How about, "from 1-10, rate the ability for a classical pianist reliably practice technically demanding pieces of music on this piano with the accurate nuances in feel and sound as if they were playing a real grand piano. How about the realism of the note decay of the sustain pedal, the realism of the una corda pedal, realism of touch? Is it possible to half-depress the sustain pedal, or is it binary on/off? Are there any negatives when compared to pianos at a similar price point?" etc. Anyone can find objective information like, "is there a music stand," people come to UA-cam to hear people's *opinions* about specifics, not things they can just Google in 30 seconds. No hate here either, you seem like a great guy, just making a recommendation.
@@corv2731 That is some excellent feedback, thank you. I'm going to keep that in mind for upcoming videos.
I would like to hear what it sounds like. Boy was I fooled

What do you think about ydp-164 now?
Yamaha Arius YDP164 is a great piano for a beginner. Have a look at the Yamaha Arius YDP-S54 too as it's virtually the same piano but in a more modern style of cabinet - we made a video comparing them a few days ago here: www.epianos.co.uk/yamaha-ydp-164-vs-ydp-s54-whats-the-difference/

Simply common questions. Why afraid to ask?
I've found that some people are a little shy about asking certain questions for fear of appearing dumb. I sympathise with them so I wanted to make this video to try to help.
Afraid to ask?! This is something unique about UK or England I guess. We also repress certain emotions in other Western countries,.but afraid to ask about a digital piano,. Wow that's some next level weird stuff
