Radio Shack Concertmate 970: Sound familiar?

- Radio Shack, otherwise known as Optimus, is not a great brand. They're no longer trading in my country, but during my youth I saw decades of Radio Shack's knock-offs and re-badged machines consistently under-performing. This is one of their better efforts: The Concertmate 370 keyboard which is simply a Casio sound chip with slightly grainier sound in a simplified housing. A classic Radio Shack example!
I've had one of these for years. It's odd to see it being played on the Internet.
2:00 now we are in square wave overload!
Agree with both your comments!
5:27 beautiful patch!
1:47 this organ is ear piercing but not in a terrible way
I have one. lol they remind me of the Burzum - Hliðskjálf , Dauði Baldrs sound. I love it for that 90's Dungeon Synth, Dark Ambient sound.
I looked up this band on UA-cam ...sure is dark, like a horror movie soundtrack :) GF
@@gearfacts That album was actually the first thing I started playing on the concertmate. I actually tried selling mine recently, by any chance does yours have a humming sound when plugged in? Mine has this electronic humming background noise.
i had the realistic concermate 460 very little but sounds was very good with good piano! i dont know if there is actualy a larger version of it that have been made.. because it was only 32 notes.
Hi I have the Concermate 980 that was gifted to me by a friend and I’m not sure how to charge it. If you could please help me and do a tutorial on how to charge it that’d be great.
I suggest buying a multi-voltage DC adapter from an electronics store. Works every time :)
How to use the transpose key on the concert mate 970 piano
If you don't mind, I would like to hear the rhythms 35-43 with the auto-accompaniment chords. Thanks!
Sorry Gabriel, it's gone now so I can't ...things never stay for long at the Gearfacts studio...
Hmm, so I know Radio Shack's keyboards were rebranded Casio ones, but I didn't know they had worse audio quality... I owned the Radio Shack MD-1121 years ago, which is a rebranded Casio CTK-671. It *looks* nearly identical other than the branding change, but do you think *its* audio could've been downgraded? I didn't own the CTK-671 to know, and it would be pointless to own essentially the same keyboard twice.
It could be possible that the DAC or whatever is different with these, but I doubt it
Yeah possibly - did you hear how those PCM sounds fizzle out at the end? I kind of like that!
My music project was named ConcertMate970 in honor of this shitty keyboard my mom bought our family while working at the Shack. I even recorded noise music with.
run it thru' some fx...could be fine
I follow his instagram though

Doe's it have midi input and output?
Yep it does
@@gearfacts I have one but I don't see a midi port
@@SayoriAintSo ditto
@@SayoriAintSo- That's because it actually doesn't. These keyboards from that time period do not have any MIDI connectors built into them. I'm not sure where GF got that idea.
I had this way back in uh… probably between 1996 and 2002? And it only had a headphone jack for output.
