For people who are really caring about it: let's examine the footage we have. 1. *Cheapness and cost-cutting* 4:23 ||| the guy is smashing the frame. We can clearly see it's made out of plastic. 1:42 ||| I don't think that any good TV will mount its components this bad. He could easily push it in, getting access to the transformer and main board. Notice that this TV doesn't have any tuners. That's because back then they were pretty expensive, from what I've learnt. It also lacks adjustments for color, which were common, because NTSC can't lock the color rendering. Probably adjustment requires disassembly. 2. *Age* There's a lack of photos of this TV. I searched "AWA Thorn C5130 TV" and got some old television photos, but they didn't look like this. And even if you will somehow get this television, it will probably require so-called "recapping" to function properly. 3. *Malfunction* I barely saw the static here. It is really dim, and while a large part in here may be due to the refresh rate async, if you will look at other TV destruction videos, you can clearly see the static. And adjustment for brightness is turned all the way up. So, you got it. I hope so. See, this "rare" TV is destroyed on purpose. I don't think that Rob is stupid enough to destroy rare things. Wait, I'm not done yet. See, people are writing "This is a valuable TV!". What are you considering valuable? Well, TV is essentially two parts: Electronics and Case. If you are caring about the case, well, you can build one like this and toss there any CRT system you want. Little rearrangement of buttons to the right and voila - you have a copy of this television! If you care more about electronics, then, why? There are lots of better, much more common TV systems - Trinitron is a great example. Well-known, easy to find and better tube! And now you are telling us about electronics. It.. kind of.. not really wise.
The TV did work fine, and in retrospect I probably would have seen what kind of value it would have held after a restore. It was so dusty and would have needed extensive restoration, which at that point usually ends up being too much time spent for something not worth a whole lot. Plus, I took it from an abandoned house that was demolished a while later. Had I not done that, it would have been demolished with the house or thrown into landfill. Developers don't care for the planet or material items in houses so they just destroy it all. It's the same with the other vintage TV I smashed after. It was all rotten, rained on and would have been thrown out when the place got demolished. Of course people never think of that. They could have gone to these abandoned places and gotten the TVs first...
@@smashthings1 Agreed. I can't imagine how much time have you spent on that. I generally don't think TVs is something REALLY valuable, unless it was groundbreaking or unusual. TV you destroyed here is no more than a footnote in history, I can't even find even images of it. Edit: I found some photos. And TVs there are in a really good condition, so it's probably not rare.
It's pretty useless anyway. Analogue television was shut off in Australia in December 2013, so the TV wouldn't be able to do anything other than show static.

I live in Canada and I guess that's an Hitachi made expressly for Thorn-AWA!... So, I had already repaired a 70's TV of this model and it was an Hitachi. About six or ten years ago, TV's whatever console or portable of this era, didn't had any value!... But, now, these models are classified as real collectibles and restaurable as other antique electronics as radios, jukeboxes and so on!
I'd be surprised if he could break an old Zenith, I mean a solid wood one from the 50s or 60s, not this fiberboard crap. I don't know if they got Zenith in Australia though.
Where do you get all this stuff to smash up? Do you have access to the dump or something or whats your source, I hope its free so that you arent having to spend money on this stuff
The squealing high pitched noise is coming from the tubes inside of the television, since these older televisions use different tubes to newer CRT’s such as CRT televisions in the 1990s or 2000s, since the pipes have been damaged, the squealing is louder, the older CRT’s make this high pitched buzzing noise, but its not that loud that i can hear it from the video, the newer CRT televisions had a less annoying buzzing high pitched noise, so thats why the buzzing noise happened. Oh and also, i bought one of these televisions recently and on channel 5, it was picking up radio? Yeah, music was playing from that TV naturally. It was picking up radio frequencies.
