Great vid as always, Grant. Here's a suggestion for a GGL video - talk about how you guys determine "play distance", using uphill, downhill, wind (helping, hurting, hook, slice). I think a lot of beginning golfers just take their "150" club when they have 150 yards. Also course management - how to pick your misses if you are between clubs... Keep up the good work!
Here's what they do- they add 10-20 yards to their actual distance so it looks like they hit the ball farther, or they just lie about their club choice.
About 2 weeks ago Matt said had a distance in the 200s, and he said he used a 7 iron. And his ball was about 20 feet from the hole. The very same day Kyle Berkshire put out a video with the same yardage as Matt claimed and he used the same club that Matt said....Matt is nowhere close to hitting as far as Kyle Berkshire. Just one of many examples. Don't let them fool you. Tig and bubbie are about the only ones you can believe
@@Luke-uw6dp tell me the video. because matt being sarcastic says he uses a way smaller club then he actually hit as a joke in some of the videos
I feel like you should almost make series of what different handicaps should be focusing on. Like what should you do to break 100, 90, 80, 70 etc.
Golf Sidekick does videos like that
Take a look at the british guys Rick Shiels, Peter Finch and Matt Fryer. They've got exactly that.
They should all be practicing chipping and putting, nearly all height handicap players could save 10 strokes by being better around the green
Become a great player around the greens. That’s the answer.
@@zachsocha5906 I was gonna mention Matt for sure! Best chill dude.
Grant’s the man. His knowledge of the golf swing is mad impressive.
mans just freestyled so much golf knowledge no script just spitting facts
Explains the concepts well too.
I'm 45, and I've been around golf all my life. The terminology you guys use is ingrained into my soul. Much like cooking terminology is natural and effortless, as I'm a Chef. I constantly find myself rattling off jargon to a new cook and just seeing that dead, helpless look in their eyes🤣 Same thing with golf. You know what you're trying to convey in the simplest way possible, but the person in front of you just doesn't understand half of what you're saying. GG continues to inspire new, and most importantly, young golfers. Just keep in mind that the person you're trying to teach how to swing a club also doesn't know how to make a good Bearnaise sauce. Great content, as always.
Man Grant quickly became my favorite Good Good fella along with Favorite youtuber. His positivity and love for the game is infectious. He's taken the time to help just about everyone in Good Good. Steve's has become a problem to his adversaries on 2v2v2 or 3v3 since Grant's been working with him.
Excited to see the video on shallowing the club. I’m a 9 handicap, but feel like my inability to stop coming over the top is preventing me from making more progress. 💯
I'm also a 9 and this summer fought this a lot.
What helped me towards the end was to work on tucking the right elbow. This forces you to get the club inside and then you need to rotate to square it up.
I also bought an aid for the first time in 25 years: Watson Hanger. It'll really force you to get the club inside and rotate your body to square it up. I'm looking to shave at least 2 strokes off next year focusing on this.
@@Real28 Thanks, man. I’m willing to try anything. 👍🏻
Hey man! Really really simple feeling is if you hold the club in your back swing and imagine a clock. If the club is pointing straight up it would be on 12 and 6. Feel like before you fire that it falls to 2 o clock aka letting the club head fall behind your back then go! You’ll shallow every single time without fail
As a former baseball player I feel this man
My biggest tip for this, as someone who struggles with a slight over the top, is ROTATE. Clear the hips and keep your right elbow close and kind of tucked into your right rib cage and you have to FULLY commit to the rotation. When I gather at the top of my swing, my first movement is driving my left hip slightly down and left then throwing the right side of my hip around hard but smooth and keeping my right elbow tucked and really committing to that motion all the way through the shot.
Trust the process of changing that over the top motion. It took me about 2 months to get rid of it but I promise the struggle is worth it!!
Got my first golf lesson tomorrow and these Good Good Labs videos have already been so helpful!
Thank you for answering my question Grant!!!
Grant showing compression close up and u see a perfect wear spot on his iron!!
I’d love to see a video eventually on the mental aspect of your game Grant! Tips on staying positive during the round and not letting bad shots effect future shots. I know a lot of 18+ handicap golfers who could totally shred 5-10 strokes and appreciate a video on how to stay mentally locked in throughout an entire round.
My man grant! I completely lost my swing for a couple weeks. This video got me right. I just watched for no reason, had no idea how much it would help. Big supporter of the channel!!!! Keep em coming!
Love that impact circle on your wedge...
This is really solid info man. Definitely need to do more of these!
Also, I think it is key to mention that compression is not about club path (out to in) as much as it is about hitting down on the ball and compressing the ball into the ground with the club.
I am a fan of all your videos, but, as a public educator who is twice your age, I have to point out these slight but important adjustments to your guidance. Please don't take offense. In fact, what I would really like is a good good 1/4 zip in size medium since I can't seem to find one anywhere and certainly can't afford one.
All the Best,
Coach Dean in Northern California
yea i was confused when he talked about compression that way.
Best golf teacher on UA-cam. No waffle. Always clear and to the point. Thanks!
Easily the most substantive labs video yet. Love this! Keep it up 👍🏼
Good Good labs simplifies golf. Grant you just have a way of explaining the swing that makes it easy to understand and follow. Ty
As a coach I am very impressed with Grant's communication skills. Great work man! Love the vid.
Keep killing it guys! Always love the content!
Great video, in so many ways, thank you! 👊
Love these videos! Can you do a course management video? As I look at my own game I realize that my go-to move is to use the least amount of club needed and just try to pound it. And I then realized I should be figuring out how to best move around the course first.
Thanks for your help. I need to know how to tell the difference between set up and swing path regarding a push or pull, especially with irons. I have trouble pulling (left swing right handed person) but can't tell if it's swing path or set up. I don't want to aim left 30 degrees if it's the swing.
Great video Grant! Golfing dictionary ain't that easy to explain!
Yeah ima need that shallow video asap chief, I’m at a great place at the top and immediately get steep/out to in
You have helped me go from a 20 handicap to a 15 handicap. Thanks man!
Grant you are so good at explaining golf fundamentals! 👍
Always 'good good' stuff.👍 Thx
Thank you for the tips
How bout a video on etiquette? You guys are bringing a lot of new golfers in. Think it would be helpful to go through that type of stuff. Repair ball marks/divots, pace of play, music levels, etc.
I've been hitting the trackman, can't quite figure out my swing. I have a +3 in to out swing path, but a massively closed club face. I'm talking like -4 so 7 closed to path haha. Changing grip doesn't seem to do much. I will check face at top of swing, I feel like it is probably I still don't know how to turn through ball.
Syrupy, love it. I’ll be using that term.
Thanks for replying grant! Keep it up!
I’d love to see your workout routine for your golf game + your warm up and practice routine(s).
Ayoooo Grant and GoodGood, love the work you boys have been doing. So jealous you guys get to play year round, I’m in the snow up North. Keep grinding!
yeah playing all year is such a luxury.
Grant. What are some good tips getting the club face to close more at impact. My miss hit is leaving the face too open at impact causing a slice. Doesn’t happen a whole lot and I still hit the center of the club face I just can’t seem to figure out why and when I leave it open.
love your info
Grant- Don't forget to mention that the term "Lag" comes from the delay in your hands releasing. The lag in the release is what generates club head speed.
I’d love to be on the video! - I’m a 15 handicap with not a lot of consistency… would love to have my swing analyzed with both irons and driver! Thanks for all of the tips!! Great job fellas!
Would love to see a video about proper wrist break in the golf swing. When and where is the best piece of the golf swing to break your wrists. Maybe how much break is too much, versus too little.
I have been practicing on my iron and I’m hitting them well. I noticed that I’m taking big divots but they are constantly straight. Is that a good thing? Also I find myself hitting my sand wedge and my 8,9 irons the same distance. Could you please help? If you have any advice that would be awesome. Thank you.
Grant killing it again
Grants best video to date
Question for possible future Q&A’s what’s the difference between bladed & skulled? And the same for shanked and chunked?
Nice vid.. could you do some drills to show smooth swings, I have a bad habit of trying to sledgehammer the ball when I address it,when I do practice swings its smooth and faster I just can't get that darn smash it hard outta my head when I address the ball.
Could you make a video on how to hit off of a downhill, or uphill, and out of the rough, leaves, etc.
I think your ending credit has a glitch. It says “recent video” and “random video” but just white rectangles above them. Love the videos guys. Thanks for posting relative information for all skill levels.
I'm a 15.5 handicap and some of the things I struggle with is slice and hooking the ball. Do you have any drills or tips that can help me be more consistent and make those misses smaller and I know for sure this will help a lot of people
I agree with John's comment. It would really help visualize. Take someone who has almost no experience
I totally volunteer
Ayyyy thanks for the explanation
Woah! That one was mine!
Can you do a video on the take away please, I had an issue a few months ago when I first started playing Golf that I would take away on the inside and swing from the inside and was shanking the ball, I had to learn this myself. But yeah to me the most important part of the swing is the takeaway so would be good for a video on this!! Thanks Guys keep up the great content 👌
They made one already
Does anyone have any advice on how to get a fuller swing? I seem to do a half swing every time and when I try a full swing I always top the ball
I’d be down to get a lesson on labs. I’m from Frisco and have been playing since August. Have broken 100 a couple times but just super inconsistent.
The wear pattern on that iron mama mia
Sweep when you chip!
Interested in you're guys dietary/work out routines. You play consistently/constantly and never seem to be in any pain or fatigued; something lots of people struggle with. What do you do to get in shape and stay in shape to keep that consistency and stay healthy?
MECHANICSBURG!!!!!
You guys should have a Good Good golf clinic. I’d pay for a few days of training with you guys!
8:05 sign me up as the 11 handicap you try to turn into a scratch player 🤣
Course management?
Nice wear mark
Love the vid
Cool longer vid would be a 9 hole course management video
Live a few hours from Dallas. Been golfing a few years probably played less than 25 rounds of golf but where I’m from there’s no one that teaches or can help me get my yardage for my clubs. I would love to have an opportunity to come learn some stuff and be a better golfer to one day be able to be comfortable even showing up to a club tournament
Grant, could you please consider ending your videos with the Michael Jackson thing? It would brighten my day every day! Seriously, the squat and turn tip that spawned that meme has transformed my fairway wood game so thanks.
Could you do a video about how to be more consistent with your swing?
How do you approach practice sessions before going out to play?
I know grant made a video about this on his personal channel a few months back. It was more of his range practice, oppose to right before playing
Grant gonna be a top 100 coach one day.
Would like a video on shot shaping
Shallowing the club can be deceptive though - you don’t want to swing under the swing plane. The whole point of shallowing is that you un-shallow the club. Grant definitely needs to explain this
Compressing the ball is literally just that. The moment of impact of a pure shot literally squeezes the ball, compressing and deforming it. It’s pretty cool on a high speed cam.
Exactly, but what it takes to be able to do that is hitting the ball all square in a consistent thrust forward with a divot after the actual ball contact.
BazzaGolf would love to do a range session with GoodGood!
UK 7:30 am watching grant tell me what's wrong with my swing whilst I'm sat on a cold wet building site is my life these days
Good thing Grant picked just a few questions - otherwise he would have found himself on the other side of range with all the walking (bag in the background looked smaller and smaller) 😀
What is everyone in Good Good's handicaps? Been following since before Good Good was a thing, but haven't seen a video detailing each of y'all's handicaps. Also come back to Ledgestone in Branson, MO! I saw ya'll out there after hitting the range. Since I'm a lefty, I would love to play a left-handed match against ya'll (I haven't broken 100 yet and started playing last year so could be a close one). Thanks for the tips!
They lie about their handicaps. Grant Micah Garrett are all about scratch. Matt probably like a 8-10, Steve 12+ and Bubbie 12+.
You guys should do a video where you rate the viewers closet par 3 course from there area so you guys can see where we play at
Sweet
I was watching pre-GG days. I'm talking GM Golf, Bro5 days LOL. Hook a brotha up with some GG merch! haha
I have a low hook on most of my irons and cannot fix thoughts
Bro compressing the ball is squeezing the ball between the club face and ground, creating more energy making like a trampoline effect, not “hitting it flush” you can miss hit the ball and still compress the ball. You can also compress the ball and hit a bad shot..
What if... hear me out, Grant becomes a professional golf fitter and you set up a shop in the good good office. That way everyone in the squad can get properly fitted and us fans can have an opportunity to meet you more in a professional and friendly setting.
Sweeping the club can also mean that you are not compressing irons. Not hitting down or hitting up on a iron shot can lead to sweeping which hurts distance and flight of the ball. Usually happens when the hands are not ahead of the ball at impact. This is what sweeping means to me when I'm hitting irons wrong.
Hey, just sayin', i'm in houston and would absolutely love to be the Guinea pig for this improvement. I'm easily a 120 average.
Good good needs to come to pinehurst, i met brofive when they were there, now i need to meet good good
Grant you are just an insanely impressive dude for your age and I say that as someone who is 24
when is that hat coming out?
What about answering 1 question from a viewer after every video? That’s a good way to do this more often and give a little extra tip here and there 🤷🏻♂️
There is something about Grant that makes him special idk
Nuce
Video 792 of commenting for Good Good to go back to Pursell Farms
Do you offer one on one lessons Grant?
I would like to see Professor Grant (AKA Sir Lipsalot) train an apprentice in the ways of golf. Like young Kaz, or Bubbie, or my choice, Colin (The Boss) Ross, but trained over a looooong period of time. They could begin by facing off in a match of destiny... which Grant wins easily. Then Grant trains them like once or twice a month over a year. Finally, after 12 months of training, the student can challenge the Teacher to face off in a match of glorious kung fu golf double-down destiny of the ages. This is the way.
I'd still like to know why , none of the Good Good members use a 5-wood ?
Most impressive part of the video is the wear mark on the club face. Jesus.
Just look at his club face hoooly contact
GRANT: hopefully you see this! I know you guys already did a vid on chunking the ball, but i'm still waiting on that "thinning" the ball video with the boys! Hope this one is in the works soon!
Move ball back in your stance. Stay down during the down swing.
Let me know when you want to video a fan lesson! I don't live far from Dallas.
I live in edgewood, TX
Ive played one round and shot 129. Fix me on the channel 😂
Im being humiliatingly honest with my score.. hit me up haha
LOl I would be happy if I could shoot 100 lol.
Grant is wearing out the center of that face….sheesh
Not celebs...just average golfers that can't break a hundred.
