    Great vid as always, Grant. Here's a suggestion for a GGL video - talk about how you guys determine "play distance", using uphill, downhill, wind (helping, hurting, hook, slice). I think a lot of beginning golfers just take their "150" club when they have 150 yards. Also course management - how to pick your misses if you are between clubs... Keep up the good work!

    • @Luke-uw6dp
      @Luke-uw6dp 2 роки тому

      Here's what they do- they add 10-20 yards to their actual distance so it looks like they hit the ball farther, or they just lie about their club choice.
      About 2 weeks ago Matt said had a distance in the 200s, and he said he used a 7 iron. And his ball was about 20 feet from the hole. The very same day Kyle Berkshire put out a video with the same yardage as Matt claimed and he used the same club that Matt said....Matt is nowhere close to hitting as far as Kyle Berkshire. Just one of many examples. Don't let them fool you. Tig and bubbie are about the only ones you can believe

    I'm 45, and I've been around golf all my life. The terminology you guys use is ingrained into my soul. Much like cooking terminology is natural and effortless, as I'm a Chef. I constantly find myself rattling off jargon to a new cook and just seeing that dead, helpless look in their eyes🤣 Same thing with golf. You know what you're trying to convey in the simplest way possible, but the person in front of you just doesn't understand half of what you're saying. GG continues to inspire new, and most importantly, young golfers. Just keep in mind that the person you're trying to teach how to swing a club also doesn't know how to make a good Bearnaise sauce. Great content, as always.

      I'm also a 9 and this summer fought this a lot.
      What helped me towards the end was to work on tucking the right elbow. This forces you to get the club inside and then you need to rotate to square it up.
      I also bought an aid for the first time in 25 years: Watson Hanger. It'll really force you to get the club inside and rotate your body to square it up. I'm looking to shave at least 2 strokes off next year focusing on this.

      Hey man! Really really simple feeling is if you hold the club in your back swing and imagine a clock. If the club is pointing straight up it would be on 12 and 6. Feel like before you fire that it falls to 2 o clock aka letting the club head fall behind your back then go! You’ll shallow every single time without fail

    • @toddcogan2649

      My biggest tip for this, as someone who struggles with a slight over the top, is ROTATE. Clear the hips and keep your right elbow close and kind of tucked into your right rib cage and you have to FULLY commit to the rotation. When I gather at the top of my swing, my first movement is driving my left hip slightly down and left then throwing the right side of my hip around hard but smooth and keeping my right elbow tucked and really committing to that motion all the way through the shot.
      Trust the process of changing that over the top motion. It took me about 2 months to get rid of it but I promise the struggle is worth it!!

    Also, I think it is key to mention that compression is not about club path (out to in) as much as it is about hitting down on the ball and compressing the ball into the ground with the club.
    I am a fan of all your videos, but, as a public educator who is twice your age, I have to point out these slight but important adjustments to your guidance. Please don't take offense. In fact, what I would really like is a good good 1/4 zip in size medium since I can't seem to find one anywhere and certainly can't afford one.

    Sweeping the club can also mean that you are not compressing irons. Not hitting down or hitting up on a iron shot can lead to sweeping which hurts distance and flight of the ball. Usually happens when the hands are not ahead of the ball at impact. This is what sweeping means to me when I'm hitting irons wrong.

Then Grant trains them like once or twice a month over a year. Finally, after 12 months of training, the student can challenge the Teacher to face off in a match of glorious kung fu golf double-down destiny of the ages. This is the way.
