    I can't begin to express how useful I've found this. I've been using Sibelius for over 5 years now and I've had my eyes opened up massively. Thank you!

    Most helpful! I'm just starting with Sibelius. For years I didn't want to make the change from Finale but I've decided to jump in and this video has given me a better understanding as to how Sibelius and I'm now looking forward to writing my first arrangement.

    After 25 years of use, I am finally fed up with the instability of Finale. This helps my transition to Sibelius tremendously. Thanks!

    I just keep coming back to this to learn a new trick or remind myself if I forgot how to do something. In my opinion, its the most practical list of things on internet for Sibelius. Thanks so much JJay!

    Instead of doing 2 separate dynamic markings for each voice, you can just select the dynamic marking and choose which voices it applies to in the keypad :)

    it was very helpful. The main thing I wanted was about writing for the different instruments, putting everything in one staff, changing to open voicing and transferring to the other instruments. BUT the things I learned leading up to that were amazing. I really thank you.

    Excellent video! Incredibly thorough and I learned some new things. I enjoyed your explanation of using stemlets within the context of your brass fanfare: yes, it made sense to use them, and would give the people playing it just enough context to help them understand the rhythm, without being redundant! Fantastic work.

      Also, regarding chord symbols... I have a piece which has quite a few complex jazz chords, changing every beat, they either start overlapping, or just being far too close to each other to be able to read clearly at any speed. How do I create more separation between the chord symbols without making the sheet music look weird?!

  • @neilioutube

    Very helpful video! And you went the perfect speed. The best info was Alt Shift N. I could have used that today, in fact. Just re-input the pitches and keep the rhythm, etc. I do tabs for keyboards/guitar/bass/drums. My most frustrations are in the guitar tab area ... different than this video, but I liked your comment that whenever you're doing the same thing over and over and over and over and (...), stop and research it. I am going to take that advice, starting now. My favorite parts of the video were: "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...gloria" (or maybe I heard that wrong ... I totally burst out laughing ... too late, wife is sleeping). The other was the saying to remember the harp pedals. LOL. I'm thinking that will be my next album title. And cool to see that harp plugin. There is so much I don't yet know about this program, and I've been using it for years. I haven't read through all the comments, but hairpins CAN advance with the space bar (could be a new thing since your video). Also, instead of going to the inspector all the time, you can right click the item and get options (I use that for un-magnetizing stuff all the time). Also for system breaks, you can select the bar line (or maybe bar) before you want the break and hit return. You probably know all of this, but I had to say it (OCD?). Thanks for the video!!

    Great! ;) I have a question: I want to write all the chord diagrams of a song in a line below the title. To reach this I write a chord to the notes in the first line.
    But: when I try to center them on the page the attached notes also move. So I only get either the chord diagrams in good position or the notes, but never both. - Is there a possibility to write chords that are not attached to a note? Would be a great help! :)

    Do you know how to make the note head show number inside the chord instead note name? (1,3,4,7,9,11,etc)

    • @JJBerthume
      @JJBerthume  7 років тому +2

      Count Blissett No, but whether or not that's possible depends on whether or not the note names that can appear in the notes are a superimposed font for a symbol. If they're a symbol, you'll have to make your own manually. I'll look into it.

    • @JJBerthume
      @JJBerthume  7 років тому +1

      Count Blissett Is this for set theory?

    • @CountBlissett
      @CountBlissett 7 років тому +1

      JJay Berthume no, no, I was just curious about if this function exist because I normally think more about what is that note inside the chord than what name the note have and seeing it indicated in a big score can be helpful, at least for me.

I know how to input the rehearsal marks and i've looked at the formatting options. However, frustratingly. This simple variation seems tantalisingly just out of reach. Any suggestions? Cheers

    First of all, you're quite amazing. So knowledgable. I was following your video and I wasn't seeing features that you were demonstrating. I discovered that I had Sibelius First and not the full version. I was banging my head against the wall. I upgraded to the full version as a result. You may have said that you're using the full version in the video, and I missed that part. If you didn't, it would be helpful for less evolved people, like myself, so that we don't go through the angst that I did. Moving on, is there a way for me to send you a screenshot of a piece I am notating so that I can show you a problem I am having? It might seem quite trivial, but to me it's an issue. I need help. Thank you very much for this amazing video!!!
