    Thanks for the video Adam! These are my favorite mushrooms of all time. I have found all of mine in the middle of a small hill or incline facing north to north east at the base of Hemlock, and balsam fir trees. I have yet to find any near oak trees. I guess up here in the north they tend to favor the fir and hemlock trees. Thanks again!

      Thanks! Most of my obsessions these days revolve around plants and mushrooms. I read a lot, spend time in the woods as much as I possibly can, hang out with nature organizations quite frequently, and simply follow my passion. I like to think that all the fish oil I consume helps as well!

    Chanterelles are my go to for summer edibles. The early season chanterelles here in eastern N.C. have been buggy because of a lack of other mushrooms for the flys to attack. Thanks for another great video.

      I believe i know what your talking about, i assumed they were jack o lanterns for years, i believe adam shows them in a video released this year, the chanterreles tubeus(no spell check atm) its small, chanterelle, bright oranje tube with the cap a bit duller of a color. Gills are present, they stop at the neck. Sometimes grow singular or singularly in i call em mushroom camps when i see alot together. in i guess you could say padded foliage, i find them as i walk the deer trails, i see a few isolated ones neer the water runoffs, but i find patches usually in a flat spot 50 to 100ft away from runoffs. Hard to explain when you forage a mountain, considering climate is different at top n bottom. I like to use google earth n look for flat areas around where im working for the week n fridays ill camp out, saturdays i forage for some stuff, just to get those extra nutrients my shitty diet didnt use to consist of.

    It's been a wonderful year for chanterelles in TN (also boletes).
    I also found a small bunch of tiny, almost red specimens that looked a lot like chanterelles. In 4 days they've not grown very much at all. Was hoping they'll get some good size to them soon

    • @LearnYourLand
      @LearnYourLand 7 років тому +1

      Maybe they're Cantharellus cinnabarinus? They're reddish and tend to remain small.

    thanks for the info. ? though. I live about an hour or two away from In the mountains east of u. I've noticed that morel season started earlier for u cuz of the slightly warmer climate where u live and it seems the sheepshead start earlier where I live cuz we get more cooler and rainier weather earlier than you. I've always wondered what triggers the chanterelles to grow (ground temp or rainfall?) and do u think they started in my area or do u think it will be a week or so, I'll go look either way. sorry for the long comment lol but it's something I've always thought about.

      Hey Josh, you live near the Laurel Mountains right? If so, I've seen pictures of Chanterelles growing there right now. I'd say now is a great time to look!

    • @codemanhove9940

      A little south in the capon mountains i
      notice em start late may, but thier still too small till around mid june to mid july depending on the may rain, still findable up into november, all depends if you go out n find em or if you got holes you cultivate, everywhere is someones property if you think about it. I try not to cultivate hunny mushrooms because they are very parasitic, in the spring for morels local trustees have learned morels love apple trees, just gotta be careful what time of year you apply antifungal spray.

    Hey Adam, on another note, have you ever heard of the laughing Jim mushrooms(gymnopilus spectabilis)? I met a guy that said he used to put it in his spaghetti sauce, and it makes you laugh. Apparently, it has a mild psilocybin like compound in it. Just curious if you have ever heard of them and consumed them? Thanks!
