What a wonderful restoration. When I was a kid in the 60's and early 70's we had one almost exactly like that, that my dad my brother and myself would hunt out of in the cascade mountains of Washington. I remember warming my hands by the propane light, I think it got hotter then the furnance as I recall.
You have yourself a very special place. A simple CLEAN basic functional trailer where you can sleep, rest, read, have privacy, shelter & not pay a fortune for it. A very special place. Nice job!
WOW! That is beyond impressive! If I could choose any vintage trailer in the world, it would be a Shasta Compact; and you have just created perfection ~ excellent job! 👍🏻
i started camping w/my grandparents in a late 60's teardrop and have great memories from our annual trip to the lake.... boy have we come a long way since then..... glad I was able to enjoy the family time which gave me the reason to keep doing it still today!!! 🤠
Very nice job. We had one of these when I was about 11 or 12. (Got a picture of the front of it actually) My job was to put the scissors jacks at the back of the trailer. Well, one time I forgot, and my dad & I were sitting in back at the table, and my mom was frying hamburgers on the stove. When she brought the burgers to the table, the weight transfer cause the trailer to tip, and besides making my mom fall towards us, the pan of hot grease flew off the stove and got everywhere. I don't think any of us got burned, but thank God the trailer didn't start start on fire. I don't remember what the punishment for my stupidity was, but I do remember how freaked out I was with the incident. I don't think I ever forgot the jacks after that.....
Nice video. I am restoring a 62 Shasta 1500 and doing a frame off rebuild. It's nice to see someone else take pride in these campers and that we share some of the same upgrades. I will be sharing a video like this when I finish mine. Cheers!
I have a 1961 Shasta Compact . I am so impressed by how much thought you put into the design, how much you were able to fit into such a small trailer and how well you pulled it off! My trailer is very much original. I have it all cleaned up and looking good, but it only has what it came with back in 1961. The original ice box (which mine still has) has poor insulation and is only useful for keeping sodas cool. I also have the original stove and oven which work well. I agree, the closet is just too small to be made into a bathroom so we use a shower/bathroom tent instead. While my wife and I will keep our trailer very original, again, what you have done is amazing and shows that you don't need a huge trailer to be comfortable. Well done!
Hey! Thank you so much for watching and for the great compliment! It took a lot of time and I put a lot of effort (and money) into restoring it so it's nice to have it appreciated!
Very nice restoration. Love the canned hams. I recently purchased a modern retro 23 ft trailer from Gulfstream in the Aqua and Cream with silver trim. We love it.
I loved this trailer and the memories. My Dad had a little trailer like this; in the later 50's in northern Calif. We used to take it to Bodega Bay, Shasta Co, Lake Berryessa, before it was built.
Nice job James! I'm really impressed at the attention to detail and all the little extras to make it look authentic and still give it some updates. Excellent job my friend. Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for sharing this.! Regards, Myk
Lots of really nice upgrades. I particularly like how well you matched the additional cabinetry to the original.Maybe some sliding doors on the overhead storage areas. So the contents don't fall out during transport. Matching them to the upper cabinets above the kitchen area. Still a great redo.
We have a restored 1965 Zipp. This one looks so much like ours, I know Zipp came about when one of the partners left and started his own company which is why ours look so much like a Shasta. I like how you use the table to make your bed, it's much better than the way ours sets up. Thanks for the tour, I have a few ideas now.....
Really, really nice work. Looks like you got it all (except bathroom) yet still kept the vintage look and style. That is a lot of good stuff in a small package. Very impressive. Congratulations, I hope you get to use it often.
Taunting you!!😂🤣😂that's like me and all my stained glass projects!!! But now I discovered RVing, so....you job on this is perfect perfect perfect!!!!!!!!
I grew up vacationing in a yellow & white Shasta trailer during the mid 1960’s. It was bigger than this one, we had 3 kids & 2 adults so we needed more sleeping room. 🇺🇸🌵❤️
@@AZExpert You are damaging my brain; now I want a second rv😅🤣. videos let's see Beaver, 2 vintage trailer one in land property. This one storage. I think I am missing a few more. Hey have you seen Fly Camp videos were they restore vintage rv trailer? Love the work they do.
Like your trailor Verry much. Im building a small teardrop style one of my own design. I ami going to use memory foam topper for the bed for extra comfort.
Beautiful rebuild 😍❤️ God Bless you and your Beautiful family and Adventures. Love and God Bless Everyone and America ❤️🙏😇⛪ Uncle Jeff 🥰🪖🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Awesome job sir, you have a new subscriber love you videos very informative I recently bought a older truck camper maybe 70’ or 80’ it’s has some bad water damage on the front of the camper that goes over the cab I would like to fix the damage, But being a framer Over ten years I can replicate it a lot better and stronger the only thing I don’t know is were I can find the aluminum siding do you a place here in Az that May find it And by the way I work in Mesa by southern and Mesa and live in Phoenix Thank you hope to hear from you
I just saw this video for the first time - I thought the same thing about the fresh water cover, that it looks like an ash tray. I hope somebody doesn't stop by to use it as an ash tray in the campground... Yucky water!

This is the standard in vintage camper restoration. It required so many skillsets. Impressive work on an iconic camper!
I love the red/white color scheme. Those bench covers are awesome! What a beautiful restoration! Give yourself a pat on the back!
Thanks a bunch!

So fabulous! I just purchased a yellow 1962 Shasta Compact. So excited! Beautiful job!!
This one was yellow originally too. It was a very fun build, the A/C was really the most difficult part. Thanks!

Please do share the build. I made so many videos of the process, but found most of the footage was bad, I still hope to put a video together on it.
I would give anything if that was mine. Love it what a amazing job you did! 👍
I did sell it awhile back. I took a pretty sizeable loss so I would have glady sold it to you. :) Thank you!!

Thanks again. I have a series of videos of the re-build that I am trying to put together.....if I could figure out editing more ;)
Keep me updated on your projects i always like to see how other people creatively solve problems and save these icons.
Dunno about anybody else, but a man that can make/built things with his own hands is sexy to me. This is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks! my wife thinks so too!
