O'Connell's Lamentation - Hammered Dulcimer

- This is a lovely traditional Irish air, played on the hammered dulcimer. I recorded this in September of last 2021, when we got a surprise early snow ❄️.

You know when a guy brings a hammered dulcimer to a session that it's going to be an excellent day!
Lost count of how many times I've heard this tune played in a Pub Session in the UK.
Such calming music. Beautiful tune. If I wasn't already learning the nyckelharpa I'd have a go too, it's a beautiful sound! I'll have a go in 10 years time...

@@EvanPlaysDulcimer Actually it isn't difficult here in France to get hold of a nyckel. The person that makes them in north east of France where I used to live rents them! Only 20 euros a month! I'm renting one while waiting for him to make me one. Waiting list.There are a lot of people in USA that play the nyckel, an Association, and there must be people that make them. Maybe someone rents them too? A bit dear, I've never had the money before now. And quite difficult for me as I've never played the violin, but piano, accordéon and Appalachian dulcimer. I'm not at all used to using a bow! It's hard work learning! To know when to push the bow and when to pull! And on my own! Turning a wheel on a vielle, or hurdy gurdy is easier! But I love Swedish folk music only known of it for 10 months, it's really beautiful, and catchy, makes you want to dance! I discover different pieces everyday, I give myself 30 years to learn!
