Same! I searched for midi skirts the other day and I filtered by size but I put like a wide range and literally 0 options came up 🤦♀️. The skirts that were on there in general were very dated but not in a cute vintage way...
I agree. I wanted some cute cheap shorts for summer and no searches helped me find anything good. I have watched other youtubers get sponsored by thred up. They always seem to get good stuff. I wonder if they are sent stuff secretly that is super good and their not shopping on the site. Super confused in general about threadup. Prices aren't even that amazing. Have done better at goodwill and other thrift stores.
Love you Carrie, just not crazy about Thred Up. I know they must give pretty good sponsorship deals so I respect it, but I wish someone would talk about the issues with the company. Those “estimated retail prices” are garbage, and most of us can’t find anything on the site that’s actually affordable/on trend.
I’m curious- does Carrie regularly show thredUp thrifted finds on videos that are not sponsored by them? I’m getting the feeling that she’s much less enthusiastic about the clothes in this video than her usual videos. She’s saying all the right things but tone, enthusiasm, etc I get the feeling she likes her own thrifted clothes better lol
I agree totally, I think the prices are so bad, there is barely a difference sometimes between the supposed estimated retail price and the price they are selling it to you for.. for ‘thrifted’ clothing I would want much more of a saving!
I don't know if its in your contract not to say bad things about the clothes at all, but it bothered me a little that you say "a bit snug at the waist" for the pink jeans when they clearly do not button up, and you are avoiding to show the green pants from the back, covering up with the other shirt when they are clearly super thin and see-through... You usually pretty honest about clothes, and i mean it's not like its thredUps fault when something doesn't fit or poorer quailty, so i don't really understand why the hiding.
I’m sorry I love you but there is no way an argyle Liz Claiborne vest is retail valued at $60 in 2021. I am convinced that ThredUp is the biggest influencer scam.
I thought the same!! Must be like when you go into JCP and they put stickers over the msrp and charge more so they can constantly put it on sale 😅 like marked $60 but it's always at least 40% off plus you can pile on the coupons and get it for the actual value
Thread up 😩 nooo such a scam! The fact that Carrie doesn’t consign with them despite being sponsored by them over and over again should be enough of your red flag. They will steal your clothes say they are donating them and then sell them without paying you..... bad biz. Love you a Carrie but wish you would stop promoting such an unethical company.
Yeah, my mom sent in bags of new and nearly new clothes from the brands that ThredUp wants and the bags got checked in then were "lost" and my mom was offered a $10 shopping coupon. Literally would have been better just to give the clothes to a charity.
@@emilyk8414 this happens so often! Watch on the website they will have them listed and selling them despite saying they “lost” them to you and not paying you.
Just wondering, did anything come of the phone call you had with Thred Up about the concerns viewers in your comments had/have? The not paying sellers well, listing the wrong percentage off, misrepresenting the original price so it seems more discounted etc. I know you said you talked to them so they could change these things so you could feel more comfortable working with them so thought I would check what they were fixing.
Yes! After sharing my opinions/feedback from viewers, they've been really supportive/receptive and we're on the same page. I'm not speaking on behalf of the brand, but as far as payments to sellers goes, in my opinion that's kinda how reselling works. I think we've all experienced taking a full laundry basket of good clothes to Plato's Closet and them offering $20 for the whole thing and then leaving feeling super insulted lol. Local thrift stores prices are super cheap because they get donations for free, so it's all profit. If a business like thredUP wants to be able to make a profit after purchasing an item from someone, they have to mark it up a bit. Since they have quite literally hundreds of thousands of items, it would be next to impossible to get every single estimated retail price correct (especially when things go on sale, etc.) When it came to listing the wrong percentage off, I used a coupon code and didn't realize until after the fact (which was my bad) so that's where that seemed misleading. At the end of the day, nobody has to shop anywhere if they don't want to - but I genuinely love thredUP as a sustainable option (i'm browsing on there literally daily lol)! If you have any specific questions or concerns for them that I didn't get to, I'd definitely reach out to the brand directly! 💞
I know Thredup costs more because the items are curated, but my broke, college student heart still can't afford most of these items. I also think some of the "before " prices are fishy. Good if you can afford this though. Cute pieces.
Hi, I totally agree with you. What I do is I search what item I want and then I set the ‘sort’ tab to organize the results as lowest price to highest so this way I see all the cheaper options first! It’s saved me
I feel like so many trends right now are coming back from the mid and late 90's which is when I was in high school (I'm 40) and I don't know how to process that....lol
My mom is 46, I'm 22. The other day, I wore wide leg jeans, a cropped denim jacket and a red turtleneck. She showed me a picture where she was wearing the exact same outfit in the 90s lol
@@Ana-sj5xx I love that. I actually did the same thing when I was in high school. I had a vintage tight tee and big wide leg jeans and my mom pulled a photo out from 1974 and it was damn near the same outfit.

I hated they added that. And they switch both their return policy timeframe (was 30 days, went to 15 days and I think it’s back to 30) and their cart time limit (was 25 hrs. Then 4. Now it’s three I think).
I shopped and sold clothes to them. I sold Levi’s new with tags along with other clothes. They decided to buy 9 items for about $10 dollars. They then sell each item at a 30% percent discount from full price. Also the comparable prices are made up. They claim that an item was worth more when it wasn’t. Thred Up can cost as much as shopping at a regular store.
@@ambergastelum2678 I explored selling a BUNCH of stuff to ThreadUp during the pandemic when I cleaned out my closet, and it wasn't really worth it (if my ultimate goal was to make money) so I hear you. (For the record, I'm an old lady not an influencer and my IG had pretty much been tumbleweeds before this.) Spending nearly a year posting outfits helped me really dig into my own style and feel so much more comfortable with my craziness, so much so that I felt 1000% great wearing my crazy stuff to the office when I was finally called back. It was a great side effect from a terrible year of being laid off and holed up in my house. :)

You bought it second hand, so I wouldn't stress about it. But for interest you should look up Peter Nygard, of the Nygard brand. Super duper sketchy guy, but a hell of a story.
Wow hearing Nygard is like a blast from the past. Also nice to see that I can pull things out of the back of my closet (like Argyle Sweater vests) and it could be considered fashionable now...
I'm not blaming Carrie at all for buying it, I don't research every brand I buy new or second hand, I'm just letting people know if you see this brand new, maybe walk on by!
It’s always zebra time. I was never into it until I got my 13 year old son zebra print hearing aids (years ago) and my 12 year old son giraffe print (years ago) now they have green and red ones respectively.
Ik it's some effort, but I always look up the brand and find similar items before deciding whether the thredup price is worth it. I've gotten a free people dress for $8, a Proenza jacket for $60, and $190 shoes new with tags for $40. Just gotta wait and be smart.
That was a great collection from thread up Carrie! I think it is the best one yet. You looked great and comfortable in every piece. Keep up the great work. Gotta go and check out thread up 😉!
omg when you said you never heard of the Nygard collection... not many people outside of Canada have heard of it but Nygard is essentially our Jeffrey Epstein (though some argue he's even worse). Obviously not calling you out... it's second hand and you wouldn't know but it is a really hot topic here... especially in Winnipeg, where his retail mogul was based. He is like a combination of Epstein and Trump. The CBC has done a ton of reporting on him... but major trigger warning if you do look it up. He is vile. But his business went bankrupt and he's in prison!
I think in a way A New Day became the new Merona at Target. The collections/brands are very similar. Lots of good basics in my opinion. Target is a ride or die and great place for gem hunting!

100% this! I have a theory that those who get sponsored get access to a different version of thredUP with actual decent items.

It's like a chartreuse I think? Which is kinda between both
Thank you for blessing us with that green outfit queen! You look absolutely stunning!! 💚💚
Nygard collection, research Peter Nygard (his collection is now defunct thankfully!). I do appreciate that it was thrifted!
Was just going to say........
@@brendaprudhomme593 when the news broke, they found a buyer for the company, once covid hit, that deal disappeared.
@@ashleys.949 hope he gets what’s coming to him.
@@brendaprudhomme593 same!
I'm not blaming Carrie at all for buying it, I don't research every brand I buy new or second hand, I'm just letting people know if you see this brand new, maybe walk on by!
It’s always zebra time. I was never into it until I got my 13 year old son zebra print hearing aids (years ago) and my 12 year old son giraffe print (years ago) now they have green and red ones respectively.
wow I am EARLY!!! so excited for this vid
How do you wear tube tops with bras?
I feel like we need an "auntie looks" video! 💗
That red cami and checkered skirt is amazing!!!
Obsessed with the green trend!
Ahhh I love all those bright colours!!! 😍
The hot pink jeans looked so good on you!
What happend to the zipper in the pink pants?
She had to unbutton the pants because they were too tight.
@@sandrafuch9400 thanks i missed it 😁
I kept all my colored jeans from years ago!!! Also here for the argyle vests.
Love the patterned pants and yellow halter combo! I totally don't feel comfortable wearing a halter top though.
These outfits wernt my fave.
Ik it's some effort, but I always look up the brand and find similar items before deciding whether the thredup price is worth it. I've gotten a free people dress for $8, a Proenza jacket for $60, and $190 shoes new with tags for $40. Just gotta wait and be smart.
I completely agree. If you put in the work, you can get some real gems on there!
Loooove the green monochrome outfit 💚💚
Ugggh I’ve been wanting to do like a lilac lavender monochrome look. I love the one you did in the monochrome video 💚💜💚
Stupid question....
What bra do you wear with a halter top or a high neck tank?? Strapless?
I'm obsessed with you in that red top and checkered skirt.
Finally checked out thredUP after hearing about it so much. Well 22 items later..... yep I'm a fan too 🤣 thanks for the code Carrie
The last one is giving me 90s Barbie vibes
You are always a breath of fresh air!
That 3rd outfit has strong Gwen Stefani circa 1997 energy and it is wonderful.
Such a fun video! Love all the trends. And love all the colors.
I think in a way A New Day became the new Merona at Target. The collections/brands are very similar. Lots of good basics in my opinion. Target is a ride or die and great place for gem hunting!
I don’t like thread up, but I like you so I’ll watch! 😊
Never been this early. Love you Carrie!
