    Thanks for spotlighting so many wonderful paintings from the Terra Foundation Collection. I was unaware of it’s existence until I just saw your discussion of Metcalf’s Cuban painting.
    This Colman painting is wonderful. Being dockside with all the workers on the pier as well as on board gives it so much life compared to a typical marine painting of a vessel at sea. The history discussion was great for context.

    I'm learning quite a bit about economics throughout history (e.g. trade in the Silk Road and the Indian Ocean), so I'm ready for this one.
    The Glad Tidings is a great name for a ship. Obviously not excited about the cargo...
    The detail at the end was poignant. I'm continually surprised at the complex histories involved in the beautiful pieces I've seen. It creates a very different sensation when you can look at a piece from an informed perspective.
