- Today is a first for me. I've never decorated my house in the bee theme, but my friend Lisa asked me to be a part of a friend hop and I thought it would be fun. The challenge was to make bee-themed DIY decor and I had a BLAST!

@@denisefanelli9232 I am so happy for you! You wills be so richly rewarded! I hope you post pictures. You will first need a good book on the native pollinator plants in your area, so you know what to plant and what to avoid. Most of the good ones will have native alternatives for popular garden plants. Honeysuckle and wild cherry are always good bet.
There are a ton of books on plants for bees (and butterflies), but two of my favorites are THE LIVING LANDSCAPE and 100 PLANTS FOR BEES. Those books were both published in the US, however, so please cross-reference with your above local book to make sure the plants are still relevant for your native bees! The BEE-FRIENDLY GARDEN by Purdie was written for a British audience, however, with RHS help, and it's excellent!
The (British) Bumblebee Conservation Trust has a LOT of excellent info on their website (***and a fantastic reading list!!!), as well as volunteering/education opportunities and ways to get involved! I imagine you would really enjoy working with them and learning about your native bees! www.bumblebeeconservation.org/
The Woodland Trust UK is another great group and website!

I am so excited for you! One of the most important things is local wildflowers and flowering trees, but you probably know that already, and never use any pesticides. If it kills one bug, it probably kills them all, alas.

That method of "painting" the wooden beads is EVERYTHING! How have I never seen that?! Favorite part of the entire video. Such good ideas, always!
I also have used Rit Dye for beads, it works best for darker colors, but WAY easier than painting!
