Alex was a true genius & a maverick. There will never be another like him. His cueing technique & positional game broke all the rules & his energy was all over the place - you could get an anxiety attack just watching him twitching and prowling like a Lion. Even playing John in a friendly, he couldn't help being the same as if it was an Embassy final - total focus but also ruthless in his obsession for always wanting to be at the table brake building.

snooker should have done more of this. To make it more personable. Unfortunately while technique is a major focus today, no attention is paid to personality. Fans want to watch personalities. Overall, Alex was the king of snooker, only the governing body never realised that fact. How myopic of them.

There's something very sweet about that, he could be a demon in other moments of his life, but that moment when he's taking the shot he cares about the skill and artistry that he's devoted his life to, and that is a moment of truth.

Alex certainly was a snooker genius - a title that's only ever been applicable to him and Ronnie O'Sullivan. Alex's main problem was his inconsistency - but he would take on pots that no other professional would dare try ...and sink 'em, more often than not. That pink and black (one handed) are two fine examples. Stephen Hendry - great match player that he was - would still be there tryin' to pot those two balls. Ronnie has managed to control his ' madness ' and that's why he's streets ahead of any player in the history of the game. If Alex could have done the same - even for just 5-6 years ..he would have been virtually unbeatable in that period. .

A private game between two rivals, friends, enemies, brothers, dedicated players. It's not about scoring points or winning a trophy, not even 'winning' the game, it's two masters of the art showing their class, proving themselves in ways not often seen on a big stage. It's this that turns snooker / football / tennis etc from a sport into beaty

they bonded over a few lines of the ole Jimmy (white)! Regardless, all sport is made great by contrasting characters & it's missing today, not just in snooker

@@christschinwon Yes Alex and Jimmy liked a bit of white, but that's their own personal business. That's when they used to drink alcohol and smoke during the game.I seen Alex playing one day,it was a morning session and it was about 11 o'clock,he had a vodka and coke,ha.

      Ronnies an ass*ole!
Immensely talented at snooker but no class and outright rude a lot of the time and that appeals to the weak of character.
I'm not a hater btw, I like watching Ronnie play but I turn off for the interviews

I don't know if my thought is right or not..some question in my mind to that match..are they're just actually acting in that game? If the answer is No..you're right..because snooker game cannot be guaranteed position in one shot in their game.so it's quinxident plan to be happen? Alex predicted to pot the black with one hand so he planned not to pot that pink ball.just put that ball at near the jaw.i guess.i don't know what to say.Alex Higgins is the truth legend.Master at work!!so that only i can say to him..R.i.p Master!
