Quality changes all the way, especially the keepsake design or Nemesis not dropping death defiance when you already full Then that nasty thorn witch nerf and the fix of Chronos bug where he would kill you when you should be safe (happens twice and it was just boring)
The added invulnerability for Death Defiances is so nice actually omg it’s happened 1-2 times where I’d die to Chronos and before I even got to move another hit would kill me and waste 2 defiances it was heartbreaking 😭😭😭
@@xavier.mauricio It took me more attempts to beat Eris than Chronos; saw her 5 times before winning on the 6th and saw Chronos 3 times before winning on the 4th. That final phase is absolutely brutal.
@@herroyung857 Eris is super easy. you just stand behind her. dash through her whenever she uses any attack. You can even cheese her with Selene's 80% slowdown hex which is kinda busted but it doesn't work vs chrono so eh.
That change to be able to play with only keyboard is honestly such a nice accessibility change. One of the things I had to learn for web design is making it so websites can exclusively work with keyboard for those with hand problems that make using a mouse difficult. It's important that games also do what they can with control accessibility, especially since not everyone is comfortable with using controllers.
I don't have full on hand problems, but using a kb + mouse for decades now has gotten me closer to more issues. I always use keyboard shortcuts whenever I can (e.g. Alt+tab, Ctrl+W, etc.). It's great when kb shortcuts are utilized for Steam games! 8)
Biggest reason I never used experimental hammer, favorite weapon aspect is the one on the daggers that let's you deflect, and there was a hammer that removed your omega attack, which litterally disabled the aspect
@@flamingscar5263 They turbo nerfed staff by adding massive downsides on double hit mechanics. nerfed dagger a little bit. turbo nerfed umbral flames(no longer has access to double hit), turbo buffed Moonshine axe and the skull stayed the same.
And finally fixed the substained fire shit for torchs : 70% reduce speed, like who would choose that one if he wasnt forced to finish a prophecy I knew that one will be fixed in the first update, it was worse than some of the chaos debuff
Yeah, and it's nice that more hammers affect both regular and omega moves. Before there was a higher chance of a hammer being useless for your build (if you weren't planning to use omega moves anyway).
@@dodang_9147 probably justified. Just used the mirror hit (2x hit) hammer in a build that got me my first Chronos win. Killing enemies twice as fast justifies even a 30% damage vulnerability.
Exactly! Really glad they implemented this, it was a gripe I had a few times because I took damage often when not expecting to dodge two attacks in a row with just 10 or 20% dodge chance
The aspects change is going in the right direction imo. Now they are impacting your playstyle in their own ways more, rather than just amping up a number on one of its facet.
yeah still Axe (Melinoë) is kind of boring and straightforward (more hp and dmg on simple attacks), would have prefer a dmg % on HP max or something like that for a tank build which will makes boons like Hestia Burnt offering (sacrificing a boon for HP), aphro shameless attitude (25%dmg if you have 80%hp) or the max hp boost (Hephaistos/poseidon) valuable
@@rac8153 I actually really like that the Melinoë Aspects are generally simple and "boring" but still decently effective. Never the optimal choice, but always makes you more effective without requiring you to change your playstyle.
I've been testing things out since the patch, and i've got some notes: THE TORCHES Firstly, the Omega attack speed on the torches is SIGNIFICANTLY better now than it was, comparable to something like the Rail in Hades 1. What's more, the increased attack speed means you get a very large amount of ghosts lingering on the screen, which can bounce between enemies and deal even more damage than is on-paper. It's not quite as insane as something like Eris rail and the single shot damage isn't really comparable to something like Hestia rail, but those two were incredible aspects if you built for them correctly, and with the improvements to channel speed all of the torches (Mel was the one I used in my actual run but I trialled Moros and Eos in the training grounds for thoroughness' sake), a good attack boon makes the torch attack a surprisingly effective option. My setup for that run was Apollo attack, Born Gain and Hephaestus special, but i honestly would fully recommend dropping Hephy in this setup (which i'm sure is a sensation he's unfortunately quite used to feeling - thanks again Hera). Hephy works best in my experience when you put him on something that's not really a part of the weapon's moveset you intend to use all that often - for instance, if i'm running Mel knives and hard focusing the attack, I'll usually chuck Hephy on the special because being able to throw a knife now and then for a bonus 400 damage in between my combo strings allows me to gain a nice extra chunk of damage, it can proc Vent which can help with getting Origination up (and is just more free damage on top of that), and Hephy's miscellaneous supportive boons mean he's not a bad option to have in the pool, especially now that they've upped it to a 4-god limit. That being said...Hephy's usefulness when used in this way entirely depends on how reliable it is to weave in your specials in the middle of an attack chain, and unfortunately the torches really don't perform in that regard. The special's still decent, don't get me wrong, but they appear to have quietly reduced the speed you can spam them in the most recent patch, and that plus the coiling arc of the flames means it's kind of easy to whiff them if you only use one, which Hephy's boons encourage because of the long timer on the blast - you hit it once, then go back to doing something else with your attacks and casts. More damning than that though, is that the torch attack is one that encourages you to hold it down for long periods to fire off your omega attack, and dropping that chain of attacks to apply Hephy means you have to waste time with your dinky little normal attacks while you wait for the omegas to come back online. It's not bad design or anything, it's just the way the torches are set up really doesn't lend itself well to an off-Hephy build the way that something like the staff, knives or axe do. That's not necessarily a problem, as long as you keep it in mind when targeting your boons. One thing i DID notice though: dropping your *cast* doesn't interrupt your attack string the way your specials do. This means having a status-inflicting attack like Demeter, Hestia, Zeus or Hera, plus a status inflicting cast like Aphrodite, Hestia, Demeter, is basically free Origination if you play your cards right. I managed to salvage the run by picking up Daze on my sprint (because it seems, at least to me, that even the single dash that the torches allow you while you maintain your attacks still applies daze) and Rapture Ring from Aphro, and Chronos honestly went down with very few problems from there. THE KNIVES Flick knives, one of the new hammers for the sister blades, makes it so your dash attacks also throw out 3 of your special knives, as well we know. Thing is, this also applies any status curses your special would inflict, without having to drop your attack string to use your special. Remember earlier how i mentioned earlier that Hephy works really well when you can throw in a quick Hephed-up strike now and again in between a different set of attacks? Can say for absolute certain: Vent from Hephy or Blitz from Zeus is an absolute monster on the knives' special with flick knives, because it means you can just flick out the status, then switch back to your powered-up Demeter, Poseidon, Hera or whatever other god on your attack (ideally with a second status - we stan Origination in this household) to just absolutely melt your target in the blink of an eye. You don't need to drop a single attack, and it even works as an opener, because attacking out of a full sprint also counts as a dash-strike for the purposes of Flick Knives. THE AXES Good lord the axes. Than's scythe is just perfect in every conceivable way for me. I know, everyone likes Than axe, but the boost in attack speed as a passive means that it's not just a perfectionist tool, it also makes it easier for you to stay mobile and avoid the incoming damage that would wreck your bonus. It's fast, it's fluid, and ALL of your omega moves gain from the Mortality crit chance bonus, and moreover - it's just fun! It's a really good aspect and I like playing it! I got Aphrodite as my attack boon on the run I did with it, and Artemis gave me hunter's mark (we getting heart rend flashbacks with this one), and it was i think maybe the comfiest run i've ever had of this game. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for just a fun time with a big stick. And finally, the elephant in the room is... MOMUS Haelian's right. New Momus is more fun, has better build diversity and is overall a less cheesy weapon, and is still plenty effective. It fits into a completely different niche than original Momus did, but I vibe with what it's putting down. Only notes I've got: Apollo's Solar Ring doesn't appear to work with Momus' effect, it just goes off once and then the other two casts are normal detonations from there. Understandable maybe, but a little disappointing. That being said, Uncle Poseidon be providin', cause his cast works perfectly fine, and is a great keep-out tool while you set up your turrets. Anyways those are my big conclusions so far. Boy these ADHD meds sure are working out, huh?
@@GoXDS Good points all round, i'll admit the practicality of that combo with mel axe's now-slower speed isn't something I fully considered. Teach me to open my mouth before i've got all the data points. I've removed the section on Mel axe while I get a better sense of things.
"Moonwater... *slightly* reduced healing." How the heck is 10 healing off of 25 healing a *slight* reduction lol. I think it's probably a good adjustment, just a funny use of the world *slightly*.
i think it doesn't matter because if you pick her moon-water charm, you'll likely max her night spell to get same healing. basically it is just charm tax now to use it. Previously it was good option for 0 investment.
I was just finished up a run and still took moon water. Honestly if you take the moon beam keepsake through oceanus is almost completely invalidates the reduction from this patch
A big nerf was needed. If you get it early (erebus) and upgrade it along the way, you will get 5 activations per fountain which give 25 healing + 30 gold + 2 sec immunity or some shit. You could spam it Compare to the previously 140 mana used needed to get 200 dmg in a small aera with wolf howl or the beam ray where you stand still for 3 sec and get murdered by a boss Selene boons were pretty weak outside of the water
@@rac8153 Full eclipse is strong. if it is full moon, it can get an upgrade to go immune. Does 2000 damage with purple upgrade Summon monster can be strong. there is an upgrade to give it 63% attackspeed and if it is full moon, it can get an upgrade to use your special attack boon. It murders cerebus because cerebus can spawn that mosnter that has this charge spam attack. that attack does like 3000+ damage. and in phase 1 chronos, chrono summons a soldier with shield that does 1000-3000 damage. Dark side is strong because of Lucid gain Apolo. you can use ur hex to regain mana and stand it while being invul. It is effective infinity mana if you loop it. It is almost as strong as Born gain The hex that has -80% slowdown is strong but it does not work vs chronos. The crash, morph, and beam are bad hexes but these hexes can be good for hermes who has that upgrade where if your hex is ready, you gain 20-25% attackspeed and movement on weapon.
The reason for lingering of a shield on an axe special is the small window that was present between the charging of an attack and it landing. When the shield transitioned into a slam, there was a small window when enemies could hit you. It was quite annoying.
You know at first I was angry at the Vow change you know. But after calming down. I agree that it was a necessary one. Like you said it’s suppose to be a detriment. But instead it was a positive. It allowed you to get to the legos and the duo’s way to fast. And even with out the guarantied duo/legend. It’s still helpful a good chunk of the time. Ie it still helps you cut out boons that you don’t need. Or helps you get to the correct boon you need for your build faster.
I sort of agree, except it’s kinda dumb that you’re expected to keep trying boons that will only give you 90 gold now. Ultimately if you are using the vows you’re probably just trying to have fun in the game, and making it harder to get boons makes it less fun.
@@lookalike4805 almost all of the vows are the same/similar to things on the pact of punishment so if you're gonna complain about the oath then complain about the pact
I'm so glad that they made the oil slicks in the rift extinguish after fights. It just didn't make sense to me that every other environmental trap stops affecting you once the encounter is over, but the oil slicks didn't. Plus it was so annoying to have a resource spawn in an oil slick and have to just be like "...welp, guess I can't get that resource then" 😅
Had that happen after fighting with Eris and I tried using the last of my health to still gather it but had to give up. I had hoped they'd at least allow us to use one of Demeter's or Poseidon's effects to extinguish it 😂
I didn't expect them to straight up remove momus, I always thought it would get reduced numbers or move some of the power away from the special into something else. RIP
18:18 hook knives for aspect of pan builds has this issue that the knives travel so fast that some of the miss the target even with the homing feature. This just makes sure that some of the knives will hit the target
I get why vow of forsaken needed to be changed because it was busted, but trying to build towards legendaries and duos feels AWFUL now. The extra god in the pool makes a big difference. It's much worse than in hades 1 because activating the arcanas for boon rarity and duo likelihood are awkward to use and come with big drawbacks. I think if they kept the god pool at 3 it would feel a lot better.
Darkside nerf makes a bit of sense. I had a run where I was functionally invincible fighting Chronos with it. Was. Slower kill but he couldn’t touch me
Strange, when I used it against Chronos he ignored the invulnerability and I took full damage making me think he just straight up didn't care about invul. Must have been a bug then.
My first Chronos kill was carried by Darkside. I was literally perma invulnerable with some investment on Path of Stars too so I was doing decent damage. It definitely felt like I cheated my first kill. Considering I 100% wouldve probably lost the run otherwise... Yeah, it really needed the change.
Happy I got my one OP run in with Momus before the nerf. Final staff testament, got Poseidon's legendary like 2 chambers after Slip, didn't even sweat. New Circe feels pretty good. Having magick regen on the weapon instead of boons is interesting and charges very fast with extra hits or attack speed. I had Twilight Curse just now and literally sheep-locked a miniboss until it died.
My guess about the gods number in pool has to do with the increase in boons and slots from each god. Now you have a mana regen boon slot along with additional other support boons. So I think they were balancing around the same number of boons total in your god pool. For example if each god has a list of 10 boons, a Pool of 4 means 40 boons. If the number of boons from gods goes up a bit, say 14 each. 3 gods would be 42 boons in your pool to build from. They were probably looking to approach "Builds" as being subsets of a grouping of boons and looking to keep the pool about the same. Keeping your boon pool in check would be a balancing design to help newer/casual players from less consistently having messing and spread builds. Imagine if all gods were always possible. Many new players might take a dozen unrelated boons and end up with poor builds that increase the difficulty, or worst, make the game feel unsatisfying. It takes some experience to recognize the advantage of a focus build. Helping new/casual players keep on track without forcing them down one rail is an design goal. You want options. but too many options can be a negative. (decision paralyze, etc.)
The problem with 4 god pool is we don’t have a dark foresight (increased boon chance in the H1 mirror) equivalent in Arcana. Adding just 1 more boon in Erebus + nerfing the vow of forsaking will make duos even harder now, and secondary boons in general. The Queen card doesn’t even buff legendary chance either. My hope is we get an arcana rework, which I understand is more complicated to implement since it’s all 1 big puzzle with moving parts.
@@Saracen93 i think they buffed legendary chance. I am not sure but i had a run where i got legendary poseidon boon in only 3 tries where pre-patch, i had run where i took 12 zeus boons and STILL didn't roll his legendary.
Momus *is* really fun. Only problem is that Chronos attacks really fast, so while I sailed smoothly until then, he just didn't give me time to set things up. So speed up your omega moves!
It was possible to get the barren curse from Chaos before the patch, but it took me a ton of runs where I took every single chaos portal I could (purchased or natural) for it to finally pop up. Honestly, having finished that prophecy before the change, I think it's a good change and I'm thankful other people won't have to grind it out like I did.
really happy about the inverted spark hammer. it helps alot for moros since that's something you want in your melee range to burst into your special. moros is pretty the melee aspect for flames n one of my favorite aspects in hades 2 so you're not wasting detonations that are too far away from your target.
One thing I'd like is the option to reroll hexes -- you can't do that at all currently even though it's the kind of thing you might have expected fated authority to work on. (Even Chaos' boons can be rerolled, but not Selene's hexes?) This is _really_ important if your build relies on a hex for any reason because even if Selene offers the hex you want, it might not have a good enough phase. This is mitigated as it is by Selene's keepsake (and this very patch even buffs it) but another useful buff could be to let the keepsake allow you to reroll the hexes _or_ reroll the phases they have either instead of or in addition to leting you use your fated authorities. This would incentivize players to consider equipping the keepsake in Erebus instead of waiting until Oceanus by in which time you usually have a hex set up. I used to think hexes weren't reliably enough for the keepsake to not have the Olympian keepsake effect of effectively summoning Selene, but she's actually offered in Erebus pretty consistently.
I lowkey love the new Momus. It can work amazingly with solar ring (at least I hope it does) And in any case, to me it became a cast aspect, which was needed
haven't tried myself, but saw people say that only the initial omega cast burst activates the post-cast effects like apollo, and the repeated strikes are just the omega special burst :(
@@kfiraltberger552 for sure. honestly I think the new momus is a much more interesting aspect, but also a lot less viable? and not even just because the special spam strat doesn't work anymore, but also because the delay on the repeated bursts is so long that most enemies will already be dead or will have moved elsewhere by the time the secondary strike activates, much less the tertiary one
the torches were already my most played weapon so i am eating *good* right now. eos is gonna go insane with hephaestus also, if the axepect of mel needed to die in order for the aspect of thanatos to be this much better then the sacrifice was worth it. thanatos felt backwards as hell. why would i want to use my omega attacks to buff my regular attacks 😆 and it got a speed buff
a large reason why torches primary were so strong was because they were only weapon to get base-kit double hit. this made them extremely powerful with hit-on's. They also benefited from stacking hermes attackspeed modifiers. Not sure what to think of the nerf.
honestly i couldn't even feel the recovery speed difference in mel's aspect, so i just never used it because it felt that both other aspects could just do the same and more
Im so excited to play more attack oriented torches when I get home from work. I always focused on the special since attack was a bit lacking, now they feel and seem great! 😊
im a HUGE fan of the aspect reworks like momus and eos bc for once these aspects feel much more like i should try and get multiple attack, special and cast boons instead of just one that fits the playstyle i want to go with. impressive!
I absolutely love the changes to the Than aspect on the Axe. I did a 20 fear run with Apollo on the attack and it felt amazing. I felt crazy strong before I even left Erebus. That's the only one I've messed with so far. Some of these sound great though.
I haven't played the torches much yet and Eos looked the most interesting to me, so I definitely relate there, but at least it's still available as a hammer, so now you can get the same playstyle on any torch aspect.
19:00 that sounds really fun with aspect of moros, throw a bunch of ghosts, channel omega special, dash and what the ghost come back and explode everything
with the right build you can spam darkside all he time so i understand the changes. Dark Side carried me past cerberus within my first 5 runs with terible boons.
3:19 The worst part was when Nemesis showed up instead of Echo, and instead of getting another hammer, I got a death defiance that I couldn't use. Pretty stoked about that change.
would it affect the boon on top of the cast though? i'm assuming it only affects the burst of your cast by itself, any boon you have on top is an additional activation that so far hasn't counted towards anything that buffs your omega cast (e.g. the arcana that gives you +% to your omega cast burst). and i've seen people say that momus doesn't re-activate additional omega cast effects like apollo on the repeated strikes,, either, so i doubt thanatos would affect them either.
@@majtravien4381 I haven't played the patch yet but I'm pretty sure Chaos +cast damage boons already affected things like Zeus and Poseidon cast (the *something* Ring boons) so I assume this will as well.
@@MrMarnel I actually went in to play a quick thanatos axe run with zeus omega cast right now and you know what? you appear to be correct! i took off all the cast- and omega-related related arcana and I definitely saw crits happening on the lightning bolts. i never realized that additional effects over the omega cast can get affected, and it seems thanatos aspect does help out on those at least
Excited to try out the new balance. I think Dark hex got a little nerf because of the invulnerability - with the right combo of upgrades it was possible to spend a lot of the fight invulnerable, even if the damage was lower. Just tried out the lowered power wolf howl one and it's cost is low enough now that it became a very effective dodge for me - even through chronos. I think Chronos might slow down a lil more with the hex powerup? Could be wrong but it felt a lot better using it in the boss fight.
4 gods is huge; I assume they made it 3 because they felt the game didn't have enough boon rewards to justify 4 but this will make gods like Hephaestus a lot more takeable
Yeah I have mixed feelings about this. With Selene in the mix, I felt like 3 gods could be enough, and it certainly made trying to target one god a lot easier. 4 gods will open up more possibilities, particularly for duos, but I suspect it will make going for legendaries harder.
@@muphrid7799 i'm mildly excited because i put on the vow of forsaking a lot (not for the legendaries, i know it doesn't help anymore) and there have been soooo many runs where i had to lock myself out of the magick regen boons because i needed to take a different boon and couldn't risk rolling or just didn't have the rolls to change the selection. a 4th god can actually help with cases like that lol though it is pretty niche
@@muphrid7799 I suspect a primary factor in this change is coming from internal tests. We know for a fact that Ares and Athena will show up soon too. Theres probably going to be more than enough boon choices in the final release.
@@lookalike4805before the update a maximum of 3 non Selene/Hermes gods could appear in a run once you've taken their boons, although it was possible to get more through the gods keepsakes and Echo. Now they just raised that limit to 4
I was kind of shocked that they changed eos so drastically when that seemed to be the fan favourite torch aspect from what I'd seen, and then didn't touch moros' at all. But ultimately I see why they changed that especially since they added a hammer where your attacks return to you when you dash, which means you can use the fan favourite playstyle for any aspect. Still feel like daybreaker needs some work though.
I really liked the ability to charge giga clever longer because it allows to time the block of the axe special the way you want, and avoid the times where ennemies timing are too good and you end up taking damage when you release the ‘regular’ omega special
Wolf howl's buff is very noticeable. It is now useable even in erebus (as long as don't have any way to charge it), deals a lot of additional damage if your main move is an omega and is safe (Chronos can not really take advantage of the cast time and you seem to have s on landing). But, when you take path of stars upgrades, it can become your main damage output and not your second one. A rare upgrade to deal damage twice, a rare upgrade for a bigger AoE and (better to use Selene's keepsake for that one) an epic upgrade to use twice. If you get the right upgrades, you can deal 1,400 unpunishable damage whenever you use your omega cast. It was already an hex with good lategame potential and this update buffed its earlygame.
I actually liked the torches. You could do so many combinations on them (well, you still can). One thing I didn’t like was that I couldn’t see anything on the screen by the end of the run, and this problem doesn’t ever go away, I guess
I think the extra Olympian might make Infusions even more appealing. I figure you can take an unfulfilled Infusion with higher confidence that you'll be able to force the necessary Element later.
I'm really hopeful for this patch. My biggest complaint of Hades 2 has been the weapons. Hades 1 had great weapons and I enjoyed playing with all of them. As for Hades 2, I've only really liked the staff and blades. In Hades 1, my first win was my 20th run, but Hades 2 it was my 32nd and I only accomplished it with Poseidon daggers. Hopefully with this patch, each weapon has a better feel and ability to succeed.
Even with the nerf, Vow of Forsaking isn't necessarily a bad thing when looking for specific boons. The god pool was increased too, so the risk of running out of boons to pick is smaller.
I believe the aspect of Artemis is not working the way they say it is, it may be due to the run I had being started prior to the patch, but I did have an instance where I was charging, block came off cooldown while charging, but it did not take effect
I think Sidelong crash for the skull could have been a really cool hammer. It just needed to have some sort of indicator for which side the damage wave would go. It seemed random, and sometimes you'd use the ΩSpecial and just completely whiff because you guessed wrong.
It wasn't random, it was always to Mel's ...right? I believe - been awhile since I did a run, but I tested it thoroughly in the run and it's 100% consistent. However, even as someone pretty good at games, it was surprisingly hard to keep track of during hectic combat. Probably due to it being a hammer and thus only getting to play with it briefly.
@RamikinHorde No. I only used it on a single run. And it would definitely flip which side. It got really frustrating. Could have been a bug somehow with something else in my build, maybe.
Maybe a stupid take but I swear the biggest problem with the flames is the projectiles look dumb, like im just shooting shade shaped blobs and not fire or magic
Wait Chronos insta-kill could hit you when you were safe? That makes so much sense. My first time versing him, I didn't know what to do against that attack so I ran to the safe spot and still died, and assumed I did the wrong thing, so the next time I went as far away as possible from it and still died. Had to look it up only to find out I did the right thing the first time, and I assumed I must have done something wrong. Rough bug to get on my first fight against him
I'm just happy that there's now a reason to run Thanatos other than the crit chance. I'm certainly not the best player, and it kinda felt like a waste running that aspect when I'm getting hit so often.
I will unlock Fear system after I beat Chronos for the first time or? Is it basically same as Pact of Punishment from Hades? Im 60 nights in and still struggling with his 2nd phase, imo a lot harder to beat than Hades from Hades.
Yes and yes. Gotta beat chronos once and then you can turn it on for runs, it's exactly like heat (even having many of the same options), but far less developed than Hades 1 due to early access. Example: no extreme measures/32 fear is much harder than 32 heat was
I wish they'd do something other than spare wealth when you run out of boons to get from a specific god, espeially if you have to keep taking that god's boons in the hope of getting a duo or legendary. Idk, maybe you could get a random pom power-up to one of the boons you have from that specific god or randomly upgrade one rarity or smth.
it's really a small thing but thank you for putting the patch note in the description it's so annoying when content creator in general that mostly play or are known for one game and they make vid about the balance patch, patch note or whatever from another source and i don't know why they don't put the least amount of effort, putting the source of what you're reading, i could search for the patch note but it feels so lazy to not even put the patch note link somewhere for your audience
darl side, when you build yourself around maximum magic aoutput (ideally with sth like demeters magic regen or circes serenity) is absolutly busted because u can essentially spam invincibility and max damage output
I preferred the smaller god pool tbh. Paired with the nerf of the vow of forsaking, now duos will be even harder (and the Queen card is still tricky to activate.) The only thing they added to offset this is 1 more boon chance in Erebus. Not sure if this will be enough especially since we don’t have an arcana equivalent to the mirror upgrade that makes major rewards appear more.
you do. it is called artificer. it changes your minor reward into major rewards. 3 time limit. it is extremely expensive though. You often have to give up the reroll for gods to use it unless you play without death defiance which is also kinda suicide on high fear.
@@dodang_9147 dark foresight gives you the chance on all doors, which means if it rolled you a major reward, you will see it as 2-3 doors that you can choose from. Artificer at that grasp price + being random feels bad, which is why I forgot it was a card lol.
@@Saracen93I don't know if this patch changed it, but I just did my artificer clear for the prophecy last night and it's not random despite what the card says? It's a button press on the minor find. Overall still agree with you though, the card is garbage, way too expensive
@@RamikinHorde by random I meant that you don’t know if you’ll get a boon or pom or hammer. Whereas the mirror Dark Foresight changes door awards so you could at least choose from 2-3 doors and have slightly more control.
Im wondering whether they gonna fix the wordings on some of the curses Afaik for example the Blitz curse isn't actually a curse? Which is pretty confusing since it actually states "Curse" pretty clearly
The thing about darkside is that you are by default, no path of stars, invulnerable during the move. Like, if you aren’t trying to do fast, and therefore don’t actually care about the rate of damage, it is just a free passive upgrade, effectively. Like, it’s boring, sure, but it is fundamentally kind of alright.
I wonder if the death definace immunity will help what happened to me in my first chronos clear where he triggered it and by the time the animation finished i had no time to get out of the instant kill zone
I dont know how to give Supergiant feedback, but I had a weird bug (I wasnt able to replicate it, but I assume it has something to do with the Offerings menu). I cleared a boss room and wanted to get my reward. After looking at the offering menu (the "new" list you can open in boon selection), I immediately tried rerolling since I didnt need the offered boons. I heard the reroll sound but the offerings stayed the same. The rolling cost didnt increase, but my rolls were being used. Kind of a frustrating glitch/bug since I cant reroll AND wasted 2 rolls on that. No it wasnt just the UI that bugged out, I revieved the boon I selected on screen
I think there's a new bug now, where you get a Poseidon boon as you go to the surface despite what trinket you have equipped (only happend to me with the axe)
good thing I finished the Staff testaments before the rework I guess :P (I mean I'm probably gonna make a new file when 1.0 comes out but funny) Am sad to see Thantos get changed, but I just gotta try the new axe I suppose (also I think it's so funny that mel aspect axe is even closer to Arthur now)
Vow of forsaking change is going to be frustrating if youre going for the duo/legendary and the only options you can take are something that replaces good boons/bricks your build
The reason the crit chance on Thanatos is 13 is bc Death is the 13th tarot card, incidentally its also the 13th arcana card
Ahhhh clever, thanks for sharing 😊
I was assuming it was because 13 is usually seen as an unlucky/bad number, but that might've also come from death being the 13th card

Nice catch! It also averages to about 1/8 hits being crits, so works out pretty nice in multiple ways!

I like that they changed hammers to not have major build-breaking downsides. I might actually use Experimental hammer now, and quite a bit at that!
And finally fixed the substained fire shit for torchs : 70% reduce speed, like who would choose that one if he wasnt forced to finish a prophecy
I knew that one will be fixed in the first update, it was worse than some of the chaos debuff
Aspect of Artemis updates is really solid: I actually remember charging up the riposte only to dodge because I had the messenger equiped.
Exactly! Really glad they implemented this, it was a gripe I had a few times because I took damage often when not expecting to dodge two attacks in a row with just 10 or 20% dodge chance
Finally I can start memorizing the keepsakes instead of looking at the damn alphabet
Alphabet with two X’s no less 😂
NGL, I had just gotten into the habit of memorizing the location rather than trying to remember what they were tagged with.
The aspects change is going in the right direction imo. Now they are impacting your playstyle in their own ways more, rather than just amping up a number on one of its facet.
yeah still Axe (Melinoë) is kind of boring and straightforward (more hp and dmg on simple attacks), would have prefer a dmg % on HP max or something like that for a tank build
which will makes boons like Hestia Burnt offering (sacrificing a boon for HP), aphro shameless attitude (25%dmg if you have 80%hp) or the max hp boost (Hephaistos/poseidon) valuable
@@rac8153 it's a boring bonus but it makes the numbers in game really big which is very satisfying.
@@rac8153 I actually really like that the Melinoë Aspects are generally simple and "boring" but still decently effective. Never the optimal choice, but always makes you more effective without requiring you to change your playstyle.
I've been testing things out since the patch, and i've got some notes:
THE TORCHES
Firstly, the Omega attack speed on the torches is SIGNIFICANTLY better now than it was, comparable to something like the Rail in Hades 1.
THE KNIVES
Flick knives, one of the new hammers for the sister blades, makes it so your dash attacks also throw out 3 of your special knives, as well we know.
THE AXES
Good lord the axes.
MOMUS
Haelian's right.

How's the viability on Torch Specials? Regular and Omega?
"Moonwater... *slightly* reduced healing." How the heck is 10 healing off of 25 healing a *slight* reduction lol. I think it's probably a good adjustment, just a funny use of the world *slightly*.
i think it doesn't matter because if you pick her moon-water charm, you'll likely max her night spell to get same healing. basically it is just charm tax now to use it. Previously it was good option for 0 investment.
I was just finished up a run and still took moon water. Honestly if you take the moon beam keepsake through oceanus is almost completely invalidates the reduction from this patch
You get so much healing still if you upgrade it at all, especially with the new selene keepsake buff. Moonwater is still insanely overpowered lol.
A big nerf was needed. If you get it early (erebus) and upgrade it along the way, you will get 5 activations per fountain which give 25 healing + 30 gold + 2 sec immunity or some shit. You could spam it
Compare to the previously 140 mana used needed to get 200 dmg in a small aera with wolf howl or the beam ray where you stand still for 3 sec and get murdered by a boss
Selene boons were pretty weak outside of the water
@@rac8153 Full eclipse is strong. if it is full moon, it can get an upgrade to go immune. Does 2000 damage with purple upgrade
Summon monster can be strong. there is an upgrade to give it 63% attackspeed and if it is full moon, it can get an upgrade to use your special attack boon.
It is almost as strong as Born gain
The hex that has -80% slowdown is strong but it does not work vs chronos.
The crash, morph, and beam are bad hexes but these hexes can be good for hermes who has that upgrade where if your hex is ready, you gain 20-25% attackspeed and movement on weapon.

All the keep sake designs are so good!!!

You mean he didn't give you _Ti--me_ to set things up.
What I noticed not mentioned in the patch notes is that they changed/fixed Advanced Whirlwind so you can now dash out of it.
Oh, that's good. I remember that being a major struggle in Tartarus once, where I basically had to stay inside of the whirlwind anyway to not die.
really happy about the inverted spark hammer. it helps alot for moros since that's something you want in your melee range to burst into your special.
moros is pretty the melee aspect for flames n one of my favorite aspects in hades 2
so you're not wasting detonations that are too far away from your target.
One thing I'd like is the option to reroll hexes -- you can't do that at all currently even though it's the kind of thing you might have expected fated authority to work on. (Even Chaos' boons can be rerolled, but not Selene's hexes?)
This is _really_ important if your build relies on a hex for any reason because even if Selene offers the hex you want, it might not have a good enough phase.
It can work amazingly with solar ring (at least I hope it does)
And in any case, to me it became a cast aspect, which was needed
haven't tried myself, but saw people say that only the initial omega cast burst activates the post-cast effects like apollo, and the repeated strikes are just the omega special burst :(
@@majtravien4381 Sadge. Either way though, the game needs more cast builds
@@kfiraltberger552 for sure. honestly I think the new momus is a much more interesting aspect, but also a lot less viable? and not even just because the special spam strat doesn't work anymore, but also because the delay on the repeated bursts is so long that most enemies will already be dead or will have moved elsewhere by the time the secondary strike activates, much less the tertiary one
the torches were already my most played weapon so i am eating *good* right now. eos is gonna go insane with hephaestus
also, if the axepect of mel needed to die in order for the aspect of thanatos to be this much better then the sacrifice was worth it. thanatos felt backwards as hell. why would i want to use my omega attacks to buff my regular attacks 😆 and it got a speed buff
a large reason why torches primary were so strong was because they were only weapon to get base-kit double hit. this made them extremely powerful with hit-on's. They also benefited from stacking hermes attackspeed modifiers. Not sure what to think of the nerf.
I liked old Thanatos. Just whirlwind all day, destroy everything. 😛 Now it’s actually harder to achieve that.
honestly i couldn't even feel the recovery speed difference in mel's aspect, so i just never used it because it felt that both other aspects could just do the same and more
Im so excited to play more attack oriented torches when I get home from work. I always focused on the special since attack was a bit lacking, now they feel and seem great! 😊
Torches hephaestus is just one of the most fun build
Thanks for going over this and explaining everything in earnest!
im a HUGE fan of the aspect reworks like momus and eos bc for once these aspects feel much more like i should try and get multiple attack, special and cast boons instead of just one that fits the playstyle i want to go with. impressive!
I absolutely love the changes to the Than aspect on the Axe. I did a 20 fear run with Apollo on the attack and it felt amazing. I felt crazy strong before I even left Erebus.
That's the only one I've messed with so far. Some of these sound great though.
A little bummed about the rework to eos because that was my favorite of the torches but Im excited to try out a lot of the other changes
Dark Side carried me past cerberus within my first 5 runs with terible boons.
the new Aspect of EOS is really cool though? Like that looks more fun than the old one running around.
3:19 The worst part was when Nemesis showed up instead of Echo, and instead of getting another hammer, I got a death defiance that I couldn't use. Pretty stoked about that change.
Aspect of Thanatos also affects the Ω cast, which is particularly relevant for zeus/poseidon cast damage
would it affect the boon on top of the cast though? i'm assuming it only affects the burst of your cast by itself, any boon you have on top is an additional activation that so far hasn't counted towards anything that buffs your omega cast (e.g. the arcana that gives you +% to your omega cast burst). and i've seen people say that momus doesn't re-activate additional omega cast effects like apollo on the repeated strikes,, either, so i doubt thanatos would affect them either.
Oh, I thought it felt like my Zeus cast was doing more damage, but didn't catch that it was because of the aspect.
Hey, I actually had chaos gate speared in asphodel, after buying it in the well. You can even enter it, since you are immediately sent back in Oceanus
i wondered if that was possible lol
Being able to play with just a keyboard also means you can rebind entirely onto disability peripherals. Great accessibility feature
I dont understand what this means 🥺
@@muphrid7799 i'm mildly excited because i put on the vow of forsaking a lot (not for the legendaries, i know it doesn't help anymore) and there have been soooo many runs where i had to lock myself out of the magick regen boons because i needed to take a different boon and couldn't risk rolling or just didn't have the rolls to change the selection. a 4th god can actually help with cases like that lol though it is pretty niche

I really liked the ability to charge giga clever longer because it allows to time the block of the axe special the way you want, and avoid the times where ennemies timing are too good and you end up taking damage when you release the ‘regular’ omega special
Would be cool if they added a feature that lets you manually banish boons. Like an alternative arcana or a keepsake or something.
The torches feel so much better
Than Axe is 13% crit chance because the Arcana Card for Death is numbered XIII
Haven't played the game for myself but I did think a lot of the aspects sounded kinda underwhelming, this fixes that quite a bit!
I like that they merged the axe's aspect of Melinoe & Thanatos to both attack faster and get crit chances on the omega attack.
I actually liked the torches. You could do so many combinations on them (well, you still can). One thing I didn’t like was that I couldn’t see anything on the screen by the end of the run, and this problem doesn’t ever go away, I guess

coincidentally before this patch i actually used a zeus cast build with aspect of persephone, and by tartarus it actually charged the special decently
I think it's good that they're making more things affect Attacks or Specials and not just one half of each.
I reaaalllly like momus on staff now. I've been playing with an instant burst cast build and it's amazing.
Example: no extreme measures/32 fear is much harder than 32 heat was
such a good patch oh my god, the aspect changes are so awesome
Well that explains my run last night. I rerolled spare wealth into a legendary and reported it as a bug
I wish they'd do something other than spare wealth when you run out of boons to get from a specific god, espeially if you have to keep taking that god's boons in the hope of getting a duo or legendary. Idk, maybe you could get a random pom power-up to one of the boons you have from that specific god or randomly upgrade one rarity or smth.
aspect of mel axe seems like a placeholder effect to me, similar to how Momus was flat special damage and is now way more interesting
it's really a small thing but thank you for putting the patch note in the description
it's so annoying when content creator in general that mostly play or are known for one game and they make vid about the balance patch, patch note or whatever from another source
and i don't know why they don't put the least amount of effort, putting the source of what you're reading, i could search for the patch note but it feels so lazy to not even put the patch note link somewhere for your audience
darl side, when you build yourself around maximum magic aoutput (ideally with sth like demeters magic regen or circes serenity) is absolutly busted because u can essentially spam invincibility and max damage output
Selene's Boon was 200 before in Charon's shop! :))
Not sure how much the upgrade was if you had it already, though
Momus staff Apollo cast?
Triple the orbital strike
Doesn't work I tried. Just does the regular cast again twice
@@Drezdorn blatant racism
@@Drezdorn yeah the new video showed it don’t work :(
You can just do the old momus build on any ignium. Less base damage but the increased fire rate helps with that
Im wondering whether they gonna fix the wordings on some of the curses
Afaik for example the Blitz curse isn't actually a curse? Which is pretty confusing since it actually states "Curse" pretty clearly
What do you mean? You can proc origination with blitz? It's just a bad option since it goes away when it pops
i loved night bloom the revived enemies do so much damage even without the upgrades
As soon as I saw the update I was like "Haelian, do the thing!"
Just tried Aspect of Momus and sadly doesnt work with Apollo's Legendary.
Doesn't work with a lot of things I've tried so far. Will just fire the basic omega again. And in the same spot so if something moves it's useless
No it wasnt just the UI that bugged out, I revieved the boon I selected on screen
press f10 in game
I think there's a new bug now, where you get a Poseidon boon as you go to the surface despite what trinket you have equipped (only happend to me with the axe)
Aspect of Moros is insane with the torches and Aphrodite. Trigger the omega special, then spam the attack and destroy everything nearby.
Does Dual Moonshot still track foes? Or is that irrelevant with the reduced range since you will need to be really close to them anyway?
I really want to see something like Duo boon hexes it feels as if Hexes really isolated in its build
13th arcana is Death. For the Than scythe crit thing.
Would Circe omega damage bonus trigger when you get serenity from other things? I think the healing hex can give serenity, right?
increased attack speed on torches makes moros very very solid now, only downside is its super mana heavy
I hope the last weapon, has either a pet or an aspect that makes one of you casts summon a pet. And maybe have potential pet build.
good thing I finished the Staff testaments before the rework I guess :P
(I mean I'm probably gonna make a new file when 1.0 comes out but funny)
Am sad to see Thantos get changed, but I just gotta try the new axe I suppose (also I think it's so funny that mel aspect axe is even closer to Arthur now)
Momus: personification of harmless fun (I.E meme runs.)
Also Momus: unironically the meta before this patch.
Yooo I was unironically excited to see you comment a wall of text for an hour
My real question is, what youtube video are you not supposed to click on your saved tabs?
Vow of forsaking change is going to be frustrating if youre going for the duo/legendary and the only options you can take are something that replaces good boons/bricks your build
Am I crazy or is the Burning Desire duo boon bugged? As soon as I pick it I never see shades again.
Keepsake art best change ever
Flick Knife could be a really easy way to activate Origination if nothing else.
