- This might be my favorite Sugar Ray game that I have ever watched. He starts off by dishing out eight assists in the first quarter and throughout the game is a huge part of the 38 points that Ray Williams scores. At a certain moment he decides that he can attack the rim at will with that huge body of his. And he also made more than a handful of awesome defensive plays to help on that end of the court. Such an all-around talent. March 16, 1980.
At this time Michael Ray and Magic were mentioned in the same breath. There games were virtually clones of each other. Could have been one of the greats:(
Just when I was looking for some early Michael Ray. Thankyou
One more video of him in 1980 to be found on this channel. Cheers!
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but at the same time anyone who doesn't think the 80s was the best decade for pro basketball, I've got to question their knowledge of the game.
Ray was virtually a 6'5 Magic!!!!He was amazing to watch
Sugar Ray..... one of the greatest ever seen playing in Bologna. We saw Jim McMillian, Sasha Danilovic, Manu Ginobili and now Belinelli, Teodosic and Mannion but nobody will be like Sugar Ray....
Great player...basically same game as Magic who had better talent and no demons.
Magic stopped his career because of HIV. His demon was promiscuity.
Not the same player and I'm a Magic fan! Both were great PG and passers but Michael was a better offensive player and better defensive player.
Oh Magic had demon's. Sex addict
He talked about it. He needed it; as a result he HIV +
@@arronfrazier7873 I would say they were about even as scorers. As playmakers, we must remember, Magic had Kareem, Jamaal Wilkes and James Worthy. In New York, Sugar had Bill Cartwright and Sly Williams.
Sugar was a better defender; Magic was the better rebounder. Both learned their game in college from Jud Heathcote, who seemed to like tall point guards.
I watched him play too, he was like Magic but with an aggressive, and physical defense. He played at a time when there were a lot of off court things were happening but he was blessed to go finish up in Europe. But he was a good player.
Michael Ray, Toby Knight, Cartwright and Ray Williams. Loved this lineup.
It's unfortunate Toby Knight blew his knee out after this particular season.
