Drinking the Blood of Christ - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 бер 2024
- Friends, on this Fifth Sunday of Lent, we hear one of the most pivotal passages in the Old Testament: Jeremiah 31:31. Jeremiah knew the long Israelite history of covenant and blood sacrifice, but he prophesies, “The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.” This passage will find its fulfillment about six centuries later at a Passover supper, where a young rabbi-the covenant in person-offers his own lifeblood for his people to drink.
Mass Readings:
Reading 1 - Jer 31:31-34
Psalm - 51:3-4, 12-13, 14-15
Reading 2 - Heb 5:7-9
Gospel - Jn 12:20-33

This is why I want to be Catholic. I want to partake in this beautiful Eucharist. I want to drink the blood of Christ and eat the flesh of Christ.
🙏 ❤
It is right and just
Bishop Barron, I will be baptized into the Catholic Church this Easter; thank you Bishop Barron because your videos have taught me so much about Catholicism, and have been playing such an important role in my faith journey and conversion. Besides, I really appreciate that your videos always have proper subtitles. God bless.
Congratulations
Welcome to the Church. May God bless you on your journey 🙏
Welcome home brother Shen Liu🔥🙏 🏡
Welcome home, my friend!
Praise!
I am not a Catholic, but I am a fan of Bishop Robert Barron! Both he and Fr. Mike Schmitz make learning about the bible fun! I am glad they have both posted so much content to check out. These gentlemen are very much appreciated!
Me and my wife both will be confirmed this Pentecost. Watching this video makes it even more exciting. Thank you Bishop
❤
Every Catholic should listen to this sermon to appreciate why they go or should go to mass. Excellent!
I'm a new convert. Confirmed and had 1st Communion March 10th this year. I absolutely love partaking in the Eucharist and attending Adoration. Right now I am unemployed struggling to find gainful work, but it has given me the ability to attend Daily Mass ❤
Most Precious Blood of Jesus, save us!
God loves us so much! Thank you Bishop Barron...
Thank you Bishop Barron. I have never heard the Body and Blood of Christ explained so clearly and profoundly. I will bear this in mind each time I receive the Body and Blood in Holy Communion. Thank you so very much Bishop Barron!
"Do you want to be happy? Do you want to find the point and purpose of life? Come to Jesus and stay with him." *- Bishop Robert Barron*
Prayers for a blessed Palm Sunday and beautiful Holy Week for everyone.
Thank you, Bishop Barron, for that amazing explanation for us all!
Thank you so much, Bishop Barron!! Muchas gracias!!!
In your homilies, Bishop Barron, you make our faith come alive . These talks make clear why Roman Catholics could build great civilizations with all its intellectual and artistic grandeur. What a loss, that most of us lost that vision and sense of mission. I am very grateful that God gave you to us in these times of uncertainty. May God protect you always.
Stunned! So much history and deep meaning, all pointing to the Eucharist. Wow! Bishop, your words have honestly left me speechless. Thank you for bringing God's word together with your understanding and knowledge of history, to shine so much light on the most fundamental Truths of our dear Mother Church. Lots to think about and reflect on. God bless you 🙏🏼✝️
Here again is another masterful homily on the part of Bishop Barron: I feel truly enlightened about how the prophecy in Jeremiah 31 is fulfilled when Christ institutes the New Covenant in His Precious Blood. We are called to eat of His Body and drink of His Blood so that the New Covenant can truly be written on our hearts and that we can be forgiven of sins by the power of His sacrificial offering. And there's no better way to become more intimate with our Savior than partaking of His Body and Blood in the Eucharist.
I hear the words at Mass but have never understood them like I do now.
God has written his Law on our hearts, has given us Life in its fullest. How priveleged are we!
Bishop, hour homilies are unreal. So grateful to be able to listen to you. God bless you!
I am a Catholic from birth and was educated in Catholic grade, high school, college and professionsl school. I thought I was knowledgeable in my faith.
Upon hearing the various homilies of Bishop Barron, I wonder if I know very much at all, and if, even at my advanced age, I need a seminary education, because by comparison, I seem to be woefully ignorant.
Sincerest thanks to you Bishop Barron.
We will never stop learning more about the mysteries of God.
I have been listening to the Catechism in a Year with Father Mike Schmitz and it is a feast of information. I have learned so much.
I watch it on UA-cam at my own pace and have Ascension Press’s beautiful Catechism.
Catholic schools, certainly where I’m from, fail miserably in teaching the Catholic faith.
"The blood is the life" of the Covenant-sacrifice. However, in old covenants, sealed in animal blood, people were sternly warned NOT to drink the blood, though it could be, and was, splashed on them. No 😂question, it was real animal blood, not Red Dye Number Two.
In the New Covenant? Can it be sealed in...red wine? How then could it full-fill and surpass the other covenants which should foreshadow it? And does it not make perfect sense, then, to drink the Blood that IS the Life of God made man that only God made man can make happen?
You are not alone!
My husband & I, as well, are advanced in age, Catholic from birth, never fully comprehending our faith. Then thinking about some of the saints that died young, St. Terese of Lisieux & children such as Francisco & Jacinta Marto or Jose Sanchez Del Rio & it encourages me about what Bishop Barron said, the covenant is instilled in our hearts & the history of our church confirms that time & time again. So we can literally take heart in that & just keep growing in our faith, giving witness to one another. May we all be blessed with this fulfilling journey.
Wow!! This message extols the absolute bedrock of Christianity. I have never heard it explained in such richness of depth. This establishes the absolute purpose of Christ's mission on earth. I'm shocked this precept has never been emphasized in sermons across the ages. I am just floored by this message and will need some time to absorb this incredibly powerful truth.
I also highly recommend you search for Catholic Philosopher, Dr Peter Kreeft's talks on the Eucharist. Similar to Bishop Barron, Dr Kreeft's simple, yet profound way of presenting the truth of the faith always inspires me
I was running at night listening to this and had to stop and sit on a curb. 1:30am. Thinking why hasn’t anyone explained this to me. Forgive me God for my ignorance. This will change mass for me until the day I die. Wild. Thank you Jesus! And thank you Bishop Barron!
Every Christian needs to hear this!
With gratitude and prayers!
Thank you, Bishop Barron!!
Amen I love you Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior hallelujah praise the Lord glory to God Rejoice in the Lord always amen
Amen♥️
❤ This was a great homily
Thank you Bishop Barron 🙏
Wow! What a connection with receiving the Eucharist and the God's law written in our hearts.! I never could think that way although I received the Body and Blood of Jesus more often. Thank you Bishop Barron for enlightening us with this new insight.
Bishop Barron, thank you for your words of Wisdom 😊 I grow in my faith every day ✝️
Such a privilege to hear our faith/religious heritage explained at a scholarly level. Glad we don’t have to pay tuition for this college course. Bonus is that my faith and curiosity increased. Thanks Bishop Barron.
Happy St Patrick’s Day ☘️ praying for everyone today and hope that the blood of Jesus may reach more people 🙏🏻
I will put my laws in their hearts, and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Beautiful sermon, Thank you Bishop Barron ❤️✝️
Jeremiah 31:33
This brought tears to my eyes!
3-16-24 today I opened my bible exactly on this chapter & did not know it was today reading❤❤❤read it to my daughter prayers from french speaking Louisiana in central Louisiana we call it little Rome and we have rosary in every room of our homes. Also our homes look like small churches with a small shrine for the Catholic Feast of the day, week, month or even year🎉❤🎉
Its amazing. The Lord is doing this to all of us. Its happened to me so many times. He did this for us. Bless you.
@@quivallathis is correct. Be encouraged to live the life of Christ!
This is it! The purpose of our Catholic faith. Our Lord and God Almighty within us that we may live a life according to His will.
Thank you, Bishop Barron, for this beautiful breaking open of God's word. You are helping so many to understand more completely the Catholic faith. The more we know about it, the more we will love it and live it, so thank you. May God bless you and keep you healthy and safe.
god bless you
Bishop Barron, thank you again for another profound homily. I have become so much more enriched and enlightened by your gift of uncovering the true meanings of the Sacred Scriptures. God Bless you.
Brilliant! The body and blood of Christ, how grateful!!!
Thank you bishop barron for the work youve done here, online. Your youtube library alone is enough for a new catholic to study and learn all they would want to know about how to be a good catholic and a good follower of Christ. The lord bless you for your knowledge, and understanding, and your abaility to explain that to the entire world
AMEN Bishop Barron, you have a gift from God, and I for one, who have never in 53 years drank His blood, only His body, will be accepting his blood into my heart. A little extra Jesus goes a long way! Thank you!
Bishop thanks for a great enlightening sermon. Today the mystery of why Jesus says eat my body and drink my blood has been revealed to me. God bless you Bishop .
Oh again, making me cry….my heart is pierced right now with a devastating happening in my life , and there you are preaching as He is giving me the kiss of life. ❤
Thank you, Bishop Barron. I have never thought of the Blood of Christ this way. So powerful and enlightening. God Bless you! 🙏❤️
So eloquently spoken from a gifted orator ❤
This was yummy! Thanks Bishop Barron, I will pass it on.
Beautiful Homily. Amen!
Our beloved Bishop Robert Barron God protected and gave you graciously.
Your sermons are a saving grace for me. The sermons at my local churches are just terrible, so I rely on your preaching each Sunday for the message of the readings each week. thank you.
What church is that?
Thank you bishop you make the bible come alive
Thank you once again bringing this profound reflection on Jesus as our convenant writing his law on our hearts. We deepen this each time we share in the Eucharistic Celebration. God bless you!, Bishop Barron.
Gratefully, Sr. Brigid Cannon, OP
Our pastor recommended Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist by Brant Pitre. It was very good and enlightening.
Thanks be to God!
Excellent! Thank you, Bishop Barron. What a message to place into my heart as I prepare to attend Mass this morning. I can't wait to receive the Blood of Christ and to allow God to place his law into my heart! Thank you for this profound reminder of why we go to Mass and what is actually happening when we go to Communion. God bless all you do, Bishop and Word on Fire.
São espetaculares os vídeos do Bispo Barron!
Thank you Bishop for helping us understand the mysteries of our Faith. I've never heard sermons like this and I grew up in the Catholic church! We thank God for priests like you. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe always.
What a beautiful spiritual sermon may God continue to bless and give you the wisdom to continue your journey 🙏
Thanks for the sermon Bishop…
Thank you, Bishop Barron, for explaining the the beautiful mystery and gravity of the Eucharist with joy - writing His Covenant on our hearts. May our hearts be full❤
Truly amazing that the book of Jeremiah written between 630 and 580 BC foretelling the covenent Jesus makes at the last supper and initiated every Sunday and today when we receive Jesus Body and His Blood in the Eurcharist. Thanks Bishop Barron for this enlightenment. God Bless you.
So good! Making these old and new testament connections is so important for me, to see the whole arc and tapastry of salvation history, which so deepens my understanding of the mass and the eucharist as it's centerpiece.
Jesus save me
I listen every Sunday - today was another WOW sermon. Best explanation of the Eucharist I’ve ever heard, and one which resonated as it ties directly to the Bible study (Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible)
I’m currently attending at my Parish.
God bless you Bishop Barron.
This Sermon should put to flight any intelligent person's lack of knowledge, reservations or doubts about the Holy Mass and the Holy Eucharist. Immense Thanks Bishop Barron✨⭐🙏
Absolutely a wonderful homily. Bishop Baron you are truly a gifted school and homilist. The way you take a challenging Gospel passage and make it clear, understanding and meaningful is magnificent. Thank you 🙏🏻!
Amen to "get out your bibles". Bless you, dear Bishop!

Beautiful super sermon for those not clear about God's covenant.
“ literally inside your body”! Oh , the passion! By the way , you are on fire . It’s palpable. Thank you always …God bless and protect your heart and soul …
I believe God spoke directly to me through a man who died in 2015. A law written on your heart and mind is different from a rule written in stone.
Thank you bishop for always bringing us this beautiful reflection. Thank you Jesus for giving us the church to get closer to you.
So very grateful to Bishop Barron and these weekly sermons.
This is very powerful, especially after being confirmed in the church yesterday.

Really good news
Excellent. What's more, there were also sacrifices offered in the temple in an unbloody way. That is, they didn't appear to be like the animal sacrifices even though they were sacrifices. What was the offering? Bread and wine. The todah (Thanksgiving) sacrifice is an example of this, a "cereal offering" might be what you see in your Bibles, which means a grain offering, an offering of bread. Another example is the Bread of the Presence, found in Exodus 25:23-30, which was offered in the Tabernacle/Temple along with libations of wine. This sacrifice was offered every sabbath by Aaron and the priests (Leviticus 24) and was eaten by them. Jesus in the Eucharist is combining the sacrifices of old in his New Covenant sacrifice - offered in an unbloody way at the Last Supper and completed in a bloody way on the Cross - a new Bread of the Presence offered by the Apostles and the priests of the New Covenant.
Thank you.
Dear Bishop Barron, thank you for using your talents to reach the masses through social media to take up the role of unveiling the beauty and the depth of the truth of the Catholic faith, which unfortunately has been watered down by modernism. And as you always say, God bless you!
Thank you Bishop Barron... i enjoy listening to your sermons. May GOD bless and protect you always. 🙌➕️♥️
Terror is the coin of The Kingdom of God. Let us all pretend God made Mormons so Christians would know how Jews feel & the Son of God can't do the job the first time, he has to come again.
Thank you bishop Barron
Gm ❤thank you
