as a fellow def pure speaking: i totally agree with the point that serp helm should inflect venom (1/4 or 1/6) upon dealt melee hits in pvp, it makes no sense that it doesnt.
If a snake bites you, you have the chance of being poisoned, it's the entire thing about venom.
why dont they just reduce the max damage of the serp helm venom to 10 instead of 20
this is a real good idea i think. i think they should leave it the same in regular game but cap it in pvp or something
nick gleeson the problem wasnt its use in pvp so other way around would make more sense. damage cap in pvm i mean
so just cap it for both then......
+BagelJesus If you think 1 hitting someone by 20-20ing them with helm + weapon is not OP in pvp, you are seriously delusional. If it were to work in PvP, where actual risk is being made (unlike PvM), the item needs to be balanced or it will just become the only build, like how void become like half the damn community since it was OP. A 50% nerf seems to be the sweet spot.

(mind you i dont really pk myself so i might be wrong about to third one). 1: serpentine helms impact on the game as a whole was mostly in pvm since pvm is nowadays the driving force of the osrs economy. 2: it had to be nerfed because it was BiS by such a ridiculus margin at bosses like sara godwars. 3: cant you just use an antivenom? if so it cant possibly be op in pking

Serp helm could actually still work with the update, it venoms targets that you are using mele aginst so you can still do the venom stack.

its kinda stupid. Toxic blowpipe, toxic staff of the dead both apply venom in PVP as well at a rate of 25% per attack. i would have thought serp helm would have been brought in line in the same manner
Jagex caters to pkers love pures, pures cant hit for shit on 70 def and the helm adds offense to tanks so they cried and got it nerfed

You should have that level 1 defence prayer under your quick prays and you should flick it each time opponent hits. These 5% extra defence bonus to your 90 (potted) defence is a huge boost that you are not using :)
I honestly don't understand the nerf. In my opinion what made it so OP is the way it used to work with NPCs not PvP lol. Like killing Jad without even fighting him.

i want serp helm working in pvp again, but i'm biased too. i have a high level serp obby tank that was ruined too, and even if i make it piety it's not great since 75 def isn't amazing now.

It really should have the venom effect in pvp, even if the damage is lowered or it has no defense stats. As it is I still see it as useless for the scale cost... plus antivenom is a thing for a reason
they should give serp helm the player venom with melee attacks and give it +4 str-75def serp helm has a +3str atm and its a 75 def item cause obsidian helm has +3str-60def then the nezzy helm has +3str/+3prayer-55def

I think that the helm should do damage to people, but not as much as it did.
In the past, it started at 6 damage and went up 2 damage each 18 seconds going to 20. Off the top of my head. I think starting at 3 and going up one each 18 seconds up to 10 wouldn't be overpowered.
I agree with you, if this doesn't poison max combat players. Cause if it does then it's op in that level. Getting hit for a 20 is alot in max combat when u have ags,veng.. etc etc. I would say ok for you but it's just stupid in high combat.

i think serp helm should work for your build but it was fucking toxic in deep wild high combat. bassically had to have it to be on a lvl feild. also miss it at solo sara, that was usefull. if they could make it work for you but not deep wild that would be dope. maybe w18 only.

Reduce the damage it does vs players, and the chance of causing the effect, while adding the melee damage requirement.

Imo I'd rather them gut the stats and keep the effect. It would then be pretty situational. I understand they didn't want slayer robe too easy but this game is so focused on being hard that new players have bad first impressions.
