That's what I've been SAYING about scrapyard vs IDMTHY. I prefer IDMTHY because it feels more otherworldly and the tracks feel fuller (like bigger scope) like IDMTHY is your magnum opus masterpiece but then scrapyard is more like a collage of lots of little masterpieces that were left over
I feel like the bigger scope is why I don’t like IDMTHY as much as Scrapyard. It’s good but it’s not something that I’ll relisten to a lot, the sound can be almost draining with how grand it is. With Scrapyard I get all of these amazing ideas, emotions sounds, and risk in a more digestible and consistent project. I also just generally can relate to more of what he’s talking about on Scrapyard. It’s an album that I think I will always be able to go back to and enjoy, it’s addicting to listen to. Also like with Quadeca said is just more fun and easier to listen to
I feel like scrapyard has more like songs? I feel like idmthy has way more interludes than lyrical songs. I think the like only lyrical songs on idmthy are born yesterday, tell me a joke, knots, fantasyworld, and cassani division. Idk maybe thats just me but thats my opinion
You’re an inspiration man. I made music as a middle schooler and high schooler and was bullied mercilessly over it, even though I’m 20 now I still carry that negative voice in the back of my head that says there’s no point in trying. Seeing you get to where you’re at now makes me feel like with enough hard work I can make something that can touch other people in a positive way
Don't worry, just focus on making your craft better and better. Perhaps you can grow to produce something really amazing. Just stay determined and passionate. May God bless you on your journey brother

Quonka/Quanka, SCRAPYARD is undeniably one of the most emotionally stirring pieces of art I've had the privilege of experiencing; no other musical creation has resonated with me quite like your work. The level of emotional vulnerability and self-awareness displayed throughout the entire project is noteworthy and WILL BE STUDIED BRUH. From the inaugural note to the concluding spoken word, SCRAPYARD unveils a visceral reality, nurtured by both angst and love, painted with serene and delicate strokes. Each sonic component, encompassing distorted sounds, subtle ambient noises, metallic guitar frets, and the judicious use of vocal effects, blended with profoundly vulnerable lyrics and performances, as well as beautifully melancholic harmonies crashing like waves of nostalgia and anxiety, crafts an unrelenting, cold, and disquieting palette, which is somehow contrasted by quadeca, who persistently exhibits unwavering efforts to love and understand himself, therefore relinquishing the harsh hues that color his world. By opening himself to the world, he allows it to flourish in its undeniable beauty, embracing and accepting the pain that shaped him. In my mind, SCRAPYARD portrays an oxymoronic and disjointed journey, addressing the challenges of heartbreak and self-love/awareness by momentarily manipulating the listener's perception of reality to create a piece of art that is beyond the medium itself. Essentially, listening to SCRAPYARD is akin to what the characters in "All About Lily Chouchou" experience when they listen to her; Quonka is the ether.

To go into their heads and read their intentions, influences and visions. There is no better showcase of anthony's accurate perception than this video. Its impressive seeing how understood Quadeca feels by the way Anthony interprets his music

Listened to scrapyard after the review, and was seriously blown away. I listen to a wide array of genres, and consider myself a pretty devoted ”music listener”, and with scrapyard I’m just infatuated with the sounds, progression, performance and attention to detail these songs have. QUAD DID
idk if i’m allowed to say this but after listening to ur music on weed my life has changed for the better and i cld really listen to the tiniest details which made me appreciate it so much more
"I'm not a good guitar player, I'm just good at making guitar sound good" resonates so hard with me. It's such a good summation of how I feel about my own playing and song writing. I can't shred or anything but once the whole arrangement is put together I'm always pretty proud of my work. Shout out to all the mid guitar bois just making the most of what they've got and still getting light 9s 🙌
Scrapyard is easily my favorite project you've made I'm obsessed. Idmthy works as a cohesive album better probably, but song for song Scrapyard wins easy. Each song feels unique and conceptual and is produced ao fuckin well. There's some songs that arent for me but I still think those are great too.
The thing I like about Fantano, even if a lot of the time I disagree with his final rating, is that you always know it's his own personal experience with the record, and he expects you to have different thoughts about the stuff he reviews. Also, once you get a feel for what he likes, you can pretty easily tell how you're going to enjoy something based on his review. He'll talk about how something is too poppy or corny or something like that, then give it a 7 overall and you'll know that for your tastes it'll be a 9 (because you love corny poppy stuff) or actually just a 5 (because that stuff really tanks an album for you). You're right, in that the last album is probably the better one, and should probably receive the higher score, but that's not Melon's taste, and at least he's honest about it.
This album feels like an entire journey. It has been one of my favorite albums to listen to during work when I need to decompress and vent out some stress. The many different voices and sounds you play throughout keeps me fully invested into it every time I listen to it. It's honesty such a beautiful record imo.
Honestly people act like Melon is just a guy and to some extent that's true, but given his longevity in the public eye and relationship with the music industry itself a Fantano strong 9 is a prestigious thing to be proud of. Quad has grown so much as an artist and I'm here for it, congratulations and here's hoping for good things in the future for him
I was literally just thinking once I saw the review that we needed another video of you breaking down the review for old time sake🤣, glad my wish came to fruition. Also congrats on Scrapyard, one of my fav albums/mixtapes of the last 5 years!👏🏼
I'm with you 1000% quad. I honestly thought IDMTHY was a 10, scrap was a 7 or 8. Concept, palatability, instrumentation, lyrics, and everything. Just about everything was 2 or 3 points better on IDMTHY. He's high
Not to say I don't like scrapyard. It's dope. I like how weird you got with it. Personally I prefer it when your vocals are mixed more traditionally so they sit at the front of the track but it's a great album personal preference aside
@@jacobs9391 I think the concept of idmthy was excellently pulled off from a lyrical writing stand point. The production is also incredible. But scrapyard in terms of just sheer enjoyability imo is better and the production seems much more creative and impressive. Also it’s important to mention that fantano rates things based on what they are presented to be and what they are trying to accomplish. If quad slapped the title “vanisher” on scrapyard and called it a concept album he would probably give a 3. But since it was presented as a mixtape and thus more of a compilation of songs rather than a concept album like idmthy, it’s a 9 in the context of a mixtape.
@@jacobs9391 and also the production and instrumentation on every single one of the scrapyard tracks is better than even the best produced idmthy tracks. and keep in mind I love every track on idmthy.

Quad I still remember hearing you speak in that squadeca discord server like 3 years ago to others like me and my friend who put me on to your shit and I have to say I knew from the advice you were giving us fans that you’d some day be getting the recognition you deserved. recently I haven’t been as tapped in to your music as I should be, but you got me through quarantine with fmty and Idmthy was an absolute masterpiece and I fucking love how far you’ve come bro. Keep it up I fw you.
I'm officially invested now. Gonna give Haunt You another listen bc these recent songs have been stuck in my head for the last week rent free
omg shoutout riley. way too many friends is so catchy
Seeing this mans face after crying to his album makes me think, look at him bro how's he made me rethink my life? Hahaha love you ben x
I’m so proud of you man. Quad Did this
Sweater fire asf dawg .. and album cold too 🫶🏽 can’t wait to here what’s next
Watched this man open fifa packs now he is my #1 artist, CRAZY
i can’t believe that you got to this point over the years i’ve been listening to you, it’s insane how far you have come and i’m proud of the kid🎉
Make what you want my guy.
We’ll always love the UA-cam but you’re delivering such good music we’re more than satisfied.
Proud of the progress
Ngl hivemind converted me to a quadeca fangirl
Been here since Voice Memos and so gassed to see the arc you’ve had as an artist and so glad you’re getting your due respect.
Honestly people act like Melon is just a guy and to some extent that's true, but given his longevity in the public eye and relationship with the music industry itself a Fantano strong 9 is a prestigious thing to be proud of. Quad has grown so much as an artist and I'm here for it, congratulations and here's hoping for good things in the future for him
Yeah, it’s kind of like hating on Rotten Tomatoes, so many people hate them, but at the end of the day, everyone goes to check out the scores
we love to see it, watching ur growth over the years has been insane and i look forward to the next album
THANK YOU RILEY!
When he said "all my logic pro users bring it in", I felt that. All my friends hate logic pro. Thank you Quad
The album was scattered yet organized
abrasive yet gentle
I was literally just thinking once I saw the review that we needed another video of you breaking down the review for old time sake🤣, glad my wish came to fruition. Also congrats on Scrapyard, one of my fav albums/mixtapes of the last 5 years!👏🏼
Yeah dude, Guide dog is fucking unbelievable.
Guide dog texas blue, easier, pretty, dustcutter are my favs
Love this. Brings me back to the old days. You’re still a natural talking to the camera.
Dude you deserve this so much thank you for making such real and vulnerable art. I really can't put into words how much that shit means to me 🫡
Long live Quadinkle fr 🙏🏻💯
MAKE IT LOWER IS CRAZY
Bro im tearin up, the lore, im happy to see it come this far 😭
1:38 i’m rich😭😭😭
Crazy to see how far you've come. Been following you and listening to your music since the first style of rap video. SO PROUD OF YOU KEEP IT UP BEN
Fantano was wrong about one thing: Quadeca’s growth as an artist has not been surprising at all. We were saying this guy is gonna be a great artist in 2018. It waa pretty obvious if you were paying attention.
Considering how most UA-cam artists were, Poppy being an exceptions with an 8/10, whenever a UA-cam artist creates something that doesn’t feel like you need to know the UA-camr to feel attached is genuinely crazy
Congrats Quad. To see a person (let alone an artist I've been following for a while) succeeding at what they love is awesome and oddly emotional.
can you release voice memos 2 with crypt and dax and joey nato on the production? As a long time fan would love and appreciate!
can’t tell if this is satire or nah 😭
@@nomeca961 its satire dw
I would burn my house down from pure cringe if that happened
Crypt and Joey don’t even react to Quadeca no more. They saw how much he improved and stopped caring about my boy
i’ve been subbed to you since insecure and its crazy to me how as my music taste has evolved as i’ve gotten older you’ve evolved and expanded my music taste as well.. i’m constantly not suprised but impressed by the quality of work that you’ve been able to produced and it makes me so happy to see you get your flowers for the work you’ve put it
8:31 Quad's homophobic arc begins
/ mega ally arc
Hey brotha, i met you at the first hivemind in Detroit, and i know i talked your ear off that night but it was so cool getting to chat, when you said "quadeca fans are up" it actually hit emotionally lmao, you're doing some amazing things in music and it's been a pleasure coming along for the ride since 2016
No, I don’t listen to albums on shuffle. That’s a crime.
