How can you not love this woman She's so amazing love her. She gives you hope and determination to follow your dream. Love her so much lovely tribute :]
Awww, Kate looked so adorable as a child. I will be honest, I used to have a bit of a crush on Captain Janeway when Voyager was on back in the day. Wishing you all the best, Kate.
True inspiration.... i have been inspired to become a actress very young sit and watch star trek voyaver.... told everyone that i would give anything to grow up to be just like Kate and now im going to school majoring in theater to make a childhood fantasy of being a great actress cone ture
My childhood is present while seeing that woman. Always saw Star Trek voyager back in Nicaragua, they used to present Voyager on Universal Channel thru cable. What a woman, thank you for everything, captain. For me, the pride of the fleet along with Jean-Luc Picard and Benjamin Sisko.👏🏻
Kate Mulgrew has been at the very top of my list of favorite actresses (I know actor is the favored term, but she deserves the distinction) since the moment I was privileged to first see her - on "Ryan's Hope." She is embued with an indefinable spirit of bravery, intelligence & somehow simultaneous heaps of both toughness & gentleness. Her goodness, (her true beauty) always shines through. Although she is quite stunning in the physical realm, she possesses far, far more than that ! Through her superb acting, Kate allows us (her audience) to feel as if we are in her presence. She creates moments which stay emblazoned in our memories. As Capt. Janeway, she struggled with a multitude of challenges, often coming under attack by alien forces while being questioned by her own crew. But she never folded under the pressure. She reached inside and found the right solution -- morally, strategically, scientifically -- whatever the situation demanded, she met with passion & confidence. Capt. Janeway continually proved that, not only was she qualified to lead, but that she was one of the finest leaders in the galaxy (universe ? ) ! As a young woman, I found great inspiration in Kate's performance as Capt. Janeway. Sure, we all knew it was fiction. But somehow, through the strength of HER passionate belief, WE became believers ! Now that, folks, is acting ! She took us on a wild ride of the imagination & opened up doors of possibility. Could a woman serve with honor and excellence ? Could she successfully make instant decisions to protect her crew ? Could she win & keep the respect of her subordinates ? Check, check & checkmate ! Well done, Katie Mulgrew ! This is but one tiny example of the multitude of reasons why I am a lifetime & unabashed fan of Kate Mulgrew. She is a trailblazer, a classic human being, but resides in a class unto herself. (Oh, and her diction is flawless - with that hint of a familial Irish brogue, such a true pleasure to experience ! ) Kate Mulgrew, if you are listening, this is my one-time 100 % sincere fan letter to you. You are a great actress, and you have provided top-quality entertainment to the world for years, bless your heart ! But even more importantly to me, you are an honest, kind and compassionate woman, who is brave enough to share her real (off-stage) life story with all of us. Bravo to you !! ! (You go, "Red"! ) Love and Best Wishes, Lisa from Wichita (& I'm darn sure that I speak for millions. They may not be writers, but luckily, I am. 😊) Also, Congratulations on the writing & publication of your memoir ! Another huge accomplishment for you ! "May the Lord bless you and keep you...all the days of your life." 🌟🙌🌟🙌🌟🙌🌟🙌🌟🙌 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
No I'm not crying , what are you talking about. *sobs uncontrollably* She is just so incredible ! And the story about her getting out of that ticket was hilarious
Thank you so much for showing this video. Kate is a true inspiration to me, and because of her example I returned to college in my mid 40s. She is an awesome women.
What a beautifully compiled and thoughtfully produced tribute to Kate. Lovely to see that a broad spectrum of family, friends and employees think so highly of her. I think Kate will find Lucy's endorsement particularly touching. A lovely snippet to upload and share. Thank you for posting.
I literally just read her book Born With Teeth and she talks about Lucy in the book and its so wonderful to see that they are as close as she said they are. I am such a fan of Ms. Mulgrew
all because of her involvement with the "trek" franchise, there's a lot of misspeaking Diana Mulgrew (instead of Muldaur). "who's Diana Muldaur?" you ask. she's the fragile-looking actress who had two guest spots on TOS and was a regular for one season on TNG.
A great actress and most definitely the best Star Trek Captain. As my mum says, it's always sensible to have a woman at the helm.
That's sexist.

So happy to see the tribute to Kate!! She is widely loved beyond Dubuque and we loved seeing her hometown give her their congratulations!
