Her performance is powerful, delicate, and heart-ringing. She plays the music of Vivaldi in her own way that has either strongness and delicacy. That's great. I was so touched by the music she plays.
Very nice. I am always fascinated by the distance the bow hair is from the stick, plus she holds the stick further away from the frog than usual. Her upbow staccato is awesome too! A real pleasure to listen to.
Perhaps you already know this, but this is a baroque "dagger bow", which as you see has a stick that is convex rather than concave like "modern" violin bows. This of course increases the gap between the hair and the stick. Apparently it is quite common to hold the dagger bow farther up than would be normal on the modern bow, since the balance is different (as well as playing technique).
@@andreafalconiero9089 There was no standardization whatsoever in bows until later in the 18th century, so each bow was different, and the bow pretty much 'tells you' where to hold it when you use it, as you feel its balance and weighting.
@@circa1720 I never suggested there was standardization, although prior to Tourte's design I'm not aware of any concave bows (though there may have been some). They certainly were not widely used in the early/mid baroque where pretty much all bow designs were convex. Naturally the designs varied in many ways besides this from maker to maker.
@@andreafalconiero9089 I didn't suggest you suggested that. I was just adding to your comment, to include that it's not a personal choice of the player as to where they prefer to hold a bow - you hold each bow in a different place based on the bow itself. My 2 reproduction bows are by Ralph Ashmead and Walter Mettal, and I hold each very differently.
3:35-4:51. Turns out the music institutions know nothing of Vivaldi. This is true musicality of the highest. I like Bach, Corelli, Pisendel etc. but Vivaldi was in his own class
I don't think I agree with you. Which institutions are you talking about? I DO agree that Vivaldi was in a class of his own! Perhaps he has is own class is because he wrote so much more than just about any other composer. Has anyone written as many compositions for such varied instrumentation?
Maybe she went a bit overboard with the ornamentation in the slow movement (I think the original melody is beautiful). But still, wonderful sound, very special piece, dear to my heart. I'm no violin player but this sounds difficult to pull off right!
Hi, she is playing with a "baroque" bow which has a lot of convexity and was used until the end of the XVIII century when bows with concave camber (e.g., Tourte) started to become the "norm".

I was so touched by the music she plays.

This is how a good baroque violin sound like. Fantastic! Well played!
Hi,I love miss seiler for her musical expression, concentration and sweetness, congeatulations!❤
The music and performances are magical, terrifying and beautiful.
It’s a wonderful piece of music played extremely well. I knew within the first thirty seconds that this was going to be something special
excellent performance, in a perfect Vivaldian style! My personal compliments to the orchestra and the soloist! W Brema!
Apparently, Vivaldi didn't believe in giving his soloists any rest time. Outside of their solo passages, they play with the rest of the section.
Vivaldi and B&B! What's not to love. Thanks
This is an unusual concerto. I love Midori's bowing.

Impeccable performance of this masterpiece!
Vivaldi's late pieces should be more famous. They're these little stories of passion and mayhem and ecstasy and apotheosis. Maybe they need nicknames.
