The best thing about these little bursts of goodness is it fruits for 7 months of the year. I'm introducing them into my new place along with a thornless Blackberry and a fig. I'm so looking forward to cape gooseberries again.
I had ground cherry plants growing in a pot indoors and they didn’t fruit at all but then I planted them in grow boxes inside out greenhouse and I finally see two little ground cherries starting to grow!
Looks very healthy, have some seeds for some but haven't had any luck getting them to germinate. I did wake up to an email saying that my apple trees and olive are ready to ship so thats good news just waiting for the mulberry and blood orange now
How do you start plants from the berries? Like when are the seeds ready? On plant? Wait for the berries to drop? Treat the seeds like tomato seeds? Help please. I love these things. And a friend just gave me some of her berries. Thank you!
"Ground Cherry" is a general term that covers many Physalis species, while Cape Gooseberry refers to Physalis Peruviana specifically. Currently growing a Physalis Pruinosa (Ground Cherry) *and* a Physalis Peruviana (Cape Gooseberry) and they look/grow very different, with the P. Pruinosa being lower to the ground P. Peruviana being taller. P. Pruinosa also has 'juicier' stems and faster growth than P. Peruviana
Thank you for showing flower!! Botanical pictures are hard to find!!... tell where you are, people watching from all over planet. “Tomato trainer” first time heard that... what is zone... these can grow in Wisconsin! (That far north)
I have seeds, wondering when to plant, im in southern Australia, how deep to plant seeds. Should i start seeds indoors first? It will be 2 to 5degrees at night for few more weeks. My climate is also temperate

I spread the seeds throughout the garden last year and now I have more seedlings than I care to deal with, couldnt believe how well it grows

Well done!
to me they taste like kiwi, pineapple, and papaya with tiny hints of fig and strawberry. i was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by them when i first tried
That's some taste sensation you had. I find them slightly above average.
@@RealLifeFruitopia I find they taste like a Cape gooseberry 😂😂
Sounds like fruitgasm. To me, they taste mostly like gooseberry (the actual shrub fruit) with hints of tomato.
I agree!! Mine are fantastic. They have a bit of vanilla there too. So sweet and juicy. Just love them.
First time growing them myself, currently just seedlings at the moment. Honestly cant wait because they're my favourite🤤
Good luck!
Just ordered one of these, thanks for the tips mate
No problem 👍
They come in their own organza bag!!!
So many medicinal benefits
It’s like opening natural candy!!!

It grows perfectly well on neglect, will see how it takes with cuttings. Enjoy your new babies.
@@RealLifeFruitopia sure will, i wasn't expecting them for a month, so I'll have to make a trip to get more potting mix
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!

I usually grow from cuttings. From seed, simply grow as you would with tomato. Enjoy!
Nice I’ll have to try them
In arabic we call it "harankash" in french the translation would be "love in cage"
Hooray, one where Australia uses the same common name as we do here in the UK 😁😂. I think Americans call it ground cherry.....
I've only known it as an off shoot of Her Majesty's UK. No bloody different here except for the lack of row homes and dreadful weather.
@@RealLifeFruitopia 😂😂🤪🤪
We call them either ground cherries or cape gooseberries. Most Americans have never heard of these little gems! 😋

You're welcome. I am in Melbourne Australia, temperate climate, Zone 9b. I use tomato trainer for saving space.
