So glad some people are seeing how amazing this device is, and understand the value. All those complaints of it being $2k are underestimating how versatile it is, and how many problems this thing solves. I am sure I will get the itch for some new equipment at some point, but man it's going to be difficult to justify anything else. I can get close enough to any sound I can dream up. Yeah the FM implementation isn't quite as sweet as a Digitone, but I'd give that up for having an infinite sound pallet in one box with no cables, and a battery. What's more, is if anyone had the skill (hello Ess @Fors) Digitone style racks and instruments are all possible.
This is probably the device of the decade. Maybe you could get us a update of the important topics, now 6 months after release: inclusion of more options for standalone operation (follow actions, Midi mapping, other small (?) leftovers) and then the topic of syncronisation with external hardware gear
Not only Substracting but also adding slices in simpler or notes in Clip view by pressing some button is really necessary for it to be somehow functional.
I freakin love these duo streams! This one was super useful as I have a Push 3. And I’m not great at drums and sampling so this was great! I hope you get a lot of practice so this can turn into a Push 3 channel a little bit 😏😏
Plus one for adding and external screen for standalone, I’m sure this could be done with a basic app on iOS or android, opening up complete utilisation suite with even more intuitive touch gestures. Call it ‘Pull’ for push standalone!

1:47:24 with monitoring set to In/Auto the latency is recorded as well, it records what you hear, latency included. “Off” is most accurate with no latency (set up Delay Error Compensation to make it work), you just monitor directly with an interface. comment about ratchets : best way to make ractchets is live, with repeat fct, with loop selector you can focus on the part of the loop where you want to add some. just record , listen, undo if necessary. 1 more tip : I Highly recommend for beat construction to use the loop selector and repeat fct, start with 1/4 for kick and snare, so you don't even need the metronome ( I hate its sound, never use it) , move to 1/8 for more rythm and then higher rates for highhats and ratchets , fill some bars with various loops, then play with the loops you made to make a performance, add some non recorded events for variation if you wish. Now lets make the magic happens : go to nex clip, hit capture... and here you go, you can have a very long performance recorded (64 bars I think) as a clip. you can even have mute and automations recorded. Best thing with that : you don't even need to know how to fingerdrum to end with a really "human" performance ( you can use recorded groove from you favourite drummer to make it sound more human)
As someone that uses sidechain a lot. I could never understand why Ableton didn’t make all their devices, that have a sidechain input, have the ability to have them selectable on Push. This goes back to Push 2 days, but it’s obviously much more keenly felt on standalone. I’m not even sure that this has been addressed in 12.1.
on session view can you have a track loaded with an instrument/device/synth and have the clips below being the same instrument/device/synth but with different parameters? so it makes a different sound, and sequence the midi notes with the oxi one
feel like the 'woops im in the wrong scale' at 2:30:00~ sums up the experience pretty well. when everything is jiving and recording loops, all is well. have to change a couple notes you already played? its gonna be rough. on a laptop it takes mere seconds. on push3 its just not fluid yet.
You can actually change the note like he was trying to do. You have to be in the clip view, as they were, and then either hit the "edit" button, or click the jog wheel. In this screen you can now use the jog wheel to select individual notes (one or many) and then you can edit many of their attributes, including the note value. Not as quick as the laptop but it's as easy as an Elektron box.
@@illegalgiant_ I wasn't at all trying to convince you that the Push is for you. I was simply trying to communicate that note changes are possible and pretty easy.
Do you think an Arrangement Mode will ever be available on Push or via an App something like Note? Something like the way Elektron rolled it out on their boxes. ?? 🤞
I hope they do, having second screen to move things about would be great, call it ‘Pull’ it would make it absolutely complete and open up the full functionality of the devices as well as easier editing and arranging.
Great video! Wow… lots of info. Apologies if this was covered somewhere and I missed it. I come from a DAWless, Elektron background and just got Ableton… and sort of waiting for a Push 3 to really dig in because I’m really not into the computer screen and mouse. Would it be better to connect the Launchkey to the Push 3 or just go straight to the computer?

Very informative video! One thing you said you'd cover but didn't quite cover in the end: can this be used for producing a full track with preprogrammed automation for things like the intro, break, buildup, drop etc? I understand the concept of clips and it seems the Push is meant for live performances, but could you make copies of clips and eg create "scenes" where one longer scene of say 16 bars is the intro, and you then add automation over that full length to eg open up a filter? And then basically stack a bunch of scenes on the clip layout so you can play back a finished song by progressing scenes one by one? I'm more of a producer kind of guy, I don't stand and perform in front of an audience or anything, so to me it's about being able to basically get a much more flexible and better sounding MPC - not a device to perform on live but to make full songs on. Thanks!
