CAUGHT EM’ | Hobie BOS Lake Sam Rayburn Day1

Day 1 of the Hobie Bass Open Series on Lake Sam Rayburn was wet and miserable. It rained the entire day and the only thing that kept me warm was an awesome buzz bait and spinnerbait bite. I managed to catch bass all day fishing an overlooked bay in the back of a creek.The day started out quick missing several bass on the buzz bait before finally landing my first fish. I continued with the buz bait over the next several hours finishing of my limit and missing more fish than I would like to admit. Mid morning I switched over to a custom spinnerbait I had made and that was the ticket to keep the bite going the rest of the day. hope you guys enjoy and stay tuned for day 2 coming soon.

That's kinda how my day 1 went, but I only got 79". It was a fun day despite the rain. Those Rayburn fish have a knack for getting off. I lost over 10. Good job man!

It was definitely a good time. I had a really good buzzbait bite going in practice. I thought it would have gotten better with the weather but they were hitting it really strange.

What’s your rod/reel/line set up? Spinnerbait

I’m using a TFO Professional series 7’ med/heavy. I’m pretty cheap on reels. It’s a lews lazer mg from academy. 7.5:1 gear ratio. Seaguar red label #15 line. I just got a spool of #17 abrazx I’ll be trying.

What was the buzz bait you were using, looked like a soft plastic was on it.

I was using a buzzbait with a toad on it. I like it a lot better than a skirt. I also had a menace on one at one point.
