From everything i've watched, they didn't begin to slow down until after Badmotorfinger tour. Around 93 they changed or evolved really. I know thats why i love the earlier concerts the best. Not just the energy on stage but the early material too. Something really special about Chris's stage presence in years 1984-1990 tho. He had a more organic & seductive type presence on stage. By the time Badmotorfinger tour was over, the guys had been doing this for 9 years plus they just matured. Not to mention, i think Chris was wanting to take their music in a different direction.
@@danielhughes5250 well if you mean singing better because his voice sounded mainstream radio friendly on album Superunknown. I believe his voice was at its ultimate peak during Badmotorfinger. The bands style changed, matured over the years and so did Chris' voice. I've listened to just about everything they ever did live (thats available ). The range, control and the specific desired effects he wanted to achieve with his voice on live performances in early years is outstanding. He really blew the roof off those venues back in the day. From 86 -91, so many people would hear him sing live for first time & they'd have to pick their jaw up off the floor. Its just different taste i guess. No wrong, no right.
No I don't mean mainstream radio friendly.... I mean good pitch and power..... Badmotorfinger is my favourite record and his singing is great... Ive watched a stack of live performances from 93 back to early stuff. Singing is pretty ordinary compared to mid nineties and also 2000s... Most musicians improve as they get older. Its only natural..
@@callofthewintermoon Yes I think they evolved and grew as musicians and people. I also think Chris learned more about his voice and learned that you don’t have to belt constantly. But the constant touring definitely had an effect on his voice at times live by the mid 90s for sure. As for the stage presence thing I agree. IMHO Chris was treated and marketed as beefcake during BMF and left bad taste in his mouth. I’m sure he was aware he was a hottie, but maybe more self conscious about it later? Idk lol
