Nice to see non combat spells in a game for once, all look like some serious nice support stuff. That Lightning Storm could use some work though, what was even the point in casting it.
Conan legendarium rarelly had mages have really full combat spells most often they use tricks and alchemical shenanigans. And use their powers on more like in the list we have, but I would not mind see more expanded list.
Yeah...the lore isn't gonna let that happen. Unless of course devs want to go off source material pull shit like isle of siptah, then maybe you'll get to go full battle mage.
Lightning could use a bit more activity, looked like it was slow enough you had to skip to the point it actually did damage, seems a bit underwhelming especially for the amount of damage and accuracy of the actual hits, but looks cool.
Seems like it's really good for attacking bases. Most of the spells seem like they're mainly utilitarian and miscellaneous. Not so practical for combat, except the zombies?
I wonder if it was due to location. In the video, the spell was cast in Set City. I tried the Call of the Dead spell there once, I got the fog and could hear "undead" noises, but nothing came out of the ground at all. I never tried it again and I haven't gotten to lightning storm level yet to be able to try.
This is insane. I haven't touched sorcery yet and just assumed all it did was harvest all the resources around you 😂. That spell that summons a bar to fly you around is just nuts. The way the summoned undead actually rise from the ground looks amazing too.
I hope in the future we get combat spells..with how some spells look and the way their made it really reminds me of eldorado tzekel kan. Sadistic and fanatic and especially if u combine the evil god stuff. I kinda love that vibe.

@@kurbtastic4436well that's the point the corruption is the downside to it. As it makes you weaker in pvp basically. Also the zombies are fair as they only last for a bit. Also you need them to help protect you. As your a glass cannon
Some of the transportation stuff, like the nergal and teleport at the end are cool. Some of the utility spells are cool. Everything looks like but some of it is a bit underwhelming. I'm not sure why.
@@andreasnorberg8285 I know little of the Conan universe, but I believe that it operates on a low fantasy setting? As in the setting does have a magic system, but it's more low key, instead of the over the top displays we might expect to see in other settings.

The abyssal summons are the most worthless in my opinion except for the bat. Wall of fire in this looks good but when I used it all it did was erupt flame spikes around me instead of a wall so I think they changed it at somepoint. Icebridge is REALLY good for crossing gaps and saving time. The elixer of rebirth is a godsend for thralls and animals that have trash perks.
I once thought of building a tower that could only be entered with the use of magic. A structure with no door, only solid impenetrable walls. Now, my dream can come true.
i was really hoping for more combat oriented spells. It's not as impressive as i was hoping for, and then the one combat spell i did see, lightning storm, didnt even move the health bars when it hit. My excitement level for this severely dropped, but theres a lot of spells that look like they'll add some good support to the game.
Yeah unfortunately from the very beginning they said they weren't gonna be adding combat spells like fireballs and whatnot, sorcery in Conan lore is all about demonic entities and utility. We can hope they'll add more as they go but it was never gonna be a true combat option
@@chrissaikyo I agree. I think adding fire balls and stuff would ruin the low fantasy feel of the Conan universe and turn it into more of a generic rpg. But maybe they could've added more illusion/mind control spells, like Skyrim's pacify and frenzy spells. Imagine using those on enemy thralls to turn them against each other.

IMO: While utility spells are nice, they arent all that to justify the corruption hit to health and stam for the higher tier spells. IF they were combat oriented spells then yes it would warrant the loss of health & stam from corruption. Making magic more of a strategic play, rather a spammy, broken mechanic.
how would pure combat spells work? right now i cant imagine choosing 3 runes withotu getting smacked in the face.. maybe alternate button (left click) could have some quickcasts or something
Very simple but important question, does Mass Cull actually, give you the resources of the destroyed objects, or does it just, destroy all the harvestable objects and "delete" their resources?
it destroy all resource and give it to you , the better question you should ask would be , how much harvest you get ? example if we use star metal or best tool in the game for harvest , will it give us more resources or the mass cull ? like at which lvl of tool does mass cull harvest ?

I gotcha man. The reason it started going berserk is because you probably were not killing things when it was with you. If you don't kill things for about 5mins while it's with you it ends up attacking anything and anyone. This also applies to the Demon you can summon and Rhino. Killing things extends the time limit each time. If you have no use of them anymore then I recommend leaving them behind in a location away from you and your base or just kill it with your thralls. The corpses can be harvested I believe as well. Weapons and armor are the same I believe but I have yet to test them out yet. I'm sure others can confirm and correct me if I missed anything else but that's as much as I know about that.
@@choclon9506 Yeah I realized some of the information is scarce and some of it you just have to look into it deeper with watching more videos or the internet for certain specifics. It's tough alright. I recommend just experimenting as well. If you have any other questions let me know and I'll try to answer them for ya.
Ngl. Much more underwhelming than I'd hope. I wasn't expecting crazy damage spells like calling down meteors and all but most of them barely serve any purpose utility wise and just seem to have been put in with the thought of flashy over function. Judging from the perk calling it basic sorcery, I expect they'll add better spells hopefully sooner rather than later. But they need to patch everything they broke with this update first.

Are the mounts meant to be temporary? I had the undead horse following me in my base then suddenly it said it was killled then i seen my thralls attacking it
Yup. As with most spells they are timed and just a waste of resources imho. Better to tame your own rhino or horse and put an undead skin on it from the battle pass if you like the abyssal look.
However though if they have Archer Thralls they can easily snipe you off the bat so now all the PVP'ers will have to use those now to prevent people from Raiding from the Air (Bat) especially Alpha Tribes but yeah people who don't have Archer Thralls then yeah it's over for them!.
@@darkstar_sierra1588 yes but that means they have to be in the open to shoot you, you can shoot them before a raid and with the nerfs on thralls and change in stats a lot of players will be strong with bows and with the abyssal bow and thrall limit it would take time yes but far from unraidable
The spells aren’t a sorcerers damage dealers, their summons are. It’s a very summon heavy playstyle. You are supposed to have an army of zombies since you can just knock out any NPC and turn them into a zombie
@@MyZ001 yeah but it has to fit in the Conan the barbarian universe as this is the games setting, they specifically said magic won’t really be direct combat, that being said when you corrupt your skill tree you become a glass cannon because you’re always healing, mitigating damage and putting it onto your followers, healing your followers, summoning random demons to help attack, and spewing corruption like a leaky balloon every time you get hit.
Ice bridge is very fragile (destroyable) so I guess he wont work in bubbles. For now yes you can cast it from it self. But final version probably will be changed.
@@OniGundamSeed Well as i saw on a video that someone did testing the Spells the one spell that does damage to structures is Lightning Storm (Which also kills players inside bases too btw but might be changed on the live release since i don't think that is intentional).
The 3.0 update is in Certification Process right now for Consoles it could take a few weeks once the devs get the go ahead they will give us a proper release date.

Some one the spells look really cool, but Lightening Storm was pretty lame and there was a complete lack of offensive spells. Not really worth picking up the game again.
Yeah, most of these look useless, but I really think it was the voice over for the spells killed it for me, sounded like an Indian dude saying the Thuum words in Skyrim. The invis and nergal spell was the only one worth while. Why even have bows in this game? The lightning looked weak as hell. Sorry, just disappointed with games lately.

I mean among other very frustrating aspects of this magic is the fact that once you level it up it has so much passive damage that its virtually impossible to knock out even a tier 4 thrall before it does. Yet you need a constant supply of thralls to fuel the spells.
Yes I'm sure making an icebride/ramp to supersede the enemies barricades and summoning armies of Zombies whilst being invisible or air dropping from a bat creature would be absolutely useless in PVP... -.-' These are just old school magic, they take time to cast and strategy to plan out.

It works for breaking down another players base. Used it for that the other day.. didn't need to use explosives.
I think with the recently added golems you can sort of "direct" the lightning onto them if they have the lightning rod head

Unfortunately the lore of magic in Conan is more shamanic and isn’t meant for combat. There are mods out their that add some though.

They removed Witch doctor feat and added fucking Raise dead(just a random zombie ffs), gone are the cool things you could make with that feat

Spells are bugged for me when I learn ones I don't know I just get the teleporter and I don't have them all
