Yup. It was me who uploaded the album version. I couldn't believe it wasn't already up there. I saw Fred on numerous occasions and this was always a work in progress as he was a satirist and picked up on local and national news, adding extra verses as he went. Different every time. RIP mate.
This is the version I remember (been listening to the version on Spotify lately, thinking there's definitely something missing!) About six years overdue judging from when you posted this, but thank you for sharing!
Never forget his fantastic & brilliant performance at The Highway Man folk club in Staffordshire later 1970's. The crowded audience that summer Sunday evening were in stitches. Happy memories of a very talented folk singer. Mike Harrison
I saw Fred a few times back in the day. Hearing this has brought many memories back.............

Brings back so many memories of Fred down the White Hart's folk nights in Midsomer Norton. Such a laugh, such fun!
Fred was the first live act I ever booked - well I had a hand in it ! He was paid £15 plus a crate of Courage Light to play in a field.
I have his records too, used to sit and watch him live, we always drank Newcastle brown ale whilst watching him.
Nice version; thanks for sharing!
A genius. Sadly missed
