Sound really close to Billy's voice actually (minus some of the auto-tune) and overall a good cover! (btw auto-tune mention is not intended to be an insult, simply an observation)
Just for the record, Green Day used autotune on the entire album when mixing. Not a bad thing necessarily, just a way to tighten things up if the singer is already great.
Personally I like the slight warbley vocal mix..It adds a fresh sound to an old song.I really like it. It could be even more warbley for an even more modern mix. The original green day track is wonderfully beautiful and timeless,but I try to keep my ears and mind open to anything fresh, if it's kept somewhat original as well,even if I'm not original nor still fresh..lol
Callum Swain Opera singers technically do. They don't use technology, but they train their voices to be able to sing louder. Ergo, is why they don't use mics. That's what makes them much more competent singers. Pop is meant to sell records. The human voice cannot always handle the strain of rigorous tour schedules. I'm sure there are singers like Billy who don't have any former vocal training. This is what leads to auto tune and lip syncing.
