thats exactlty what my dd15 detroit engine is doing. the leak is behind the rear section of the egr cooler after the last strap so I want to thank you very much cause at first it was the egr cooler but i did not find coolant inside the manifold pipes. Thank you very much
Thank you. It take a minute for me too find a video like this. I was going up a hill here in UT and a massive amount of coolant started coming out where you describe at. Drain all the coolant out and was broke down on I-80.
Once you take the air cleaner assembly off you will see a distribution block for you heater hoses check those 1st replace if any are old then move on to the metal line tucked between the egr cooler and the rocker box. Glad i could help.
I got same problem. Sometimes it stops leaking by it self. My mechanic told me not to use water in coolant and when I changed my radiator and only used coolant it stopped leaking. Last month had work done replacing egr actuator and they refilled coolant they mixed it with water now it leaking again. So refill with coolant only hoping it will stop leaking.
I have a hose that is dripping and is under the big black filter n behind that square metal box... when u move it it leaks... so move ur hoses around a bit... only a bulit i did the mistake to move it a lot n drip got worse
I just bought a 2003 freightliner Thomas school bus with a caterpillar engine. It has a coolant leak that sounds similar to this. In your opinion, would this fix work for mine?
I doubt it . On a cat likely a 3126 in a bus it should not have any thing that high up on the engine leaking coolant. Check the oil cooler and of course all heater hoses.
Check your oil 1st if you are making oil it's going into drain pan check oil fill cap for milkshake check heater hoses going back to bunk heater . But usually when you are losing that much and no leak it's the egr cooler

I had the same visual problem my boss and I thought it was a head gasket it turned out to be a damn cheap oem clamp connected to heater hoses 😂
Appreciate the time you took to point this out, thank you

I had that problem too and it was that metal line.
Thank you its like the only video saying its the water manifold

I have that problem right now adding a gallon o coolant every 3 days.
Did you fix it?
I am losing 1 g per 5 mile There is a massive coolant on the passenger side😤
Check your heater hoses 1st they are all on the passenger side of the engine
Same problem! Any other suggestions?
Took me 2 hrs to find this video lol
I am losing 1 gallon of coolant every 150 mile and I don’t see the leak. So do u think it’s the same issue?

Bennet elliot Trucking it up thank you very much. I will let you know when I take it to mechanic.
@@alinaasir1 hi , did you fix the problem? And what was it?
@@ymusa8721 unfortunately the coolant was mixing with the oil. It needed overhaul.
How did the overhaul go?
What is the name of the hose ?
I don't remember the name of the metal line but it supplies coolant to the doser injector down there next to your turbo down pipe
How much did the whole job cost and how long does it take to do?
@@fredrickmiano6733 the tube is about 40 dollars took me about 5 hours to do.
