  • Noranda Bauxite Limited has a 49% interest in the partnership and holds and operates the physical mining assets and operations. The Government of Jamaica owns the remaining 51 percent. A concession from the Government of Jamaica permits Noranda Bauxite Limited to mine bauxite in Jamaica through 2030
Rusal, the world's largest aluminum producer outside of China, runs a bauxite and alumina production complex in Jamaica via its subsidiary WINDALCO. WINDALCO has an annual production capacity of 502,000 tonnes of alumina and 4 million tonnes of bauxite, according to its website

From you see we have 4 engines coupled up just know we or pulling alot of cars. Usually its 3 engines we use. But on occausion when alumina pruduction is on demand to be shipped Mangement give us word to double up everything. Cause the longer the train the more power you need to pull especially when climbing the hills going towards the tunnel in bog walk

If they buying bauxite from Jamaica I hope they paying good money for it! USA got it for little and nothing for many years! Bustamante said it was only dirt no need to charge big bucks for it! In the mean time USA making millions once converted to aluminum!

Jamaica should have a train service but it has to be a new vision with proper planning. It has to be two or double tracks. It cannot be one track where the outgoing train has to wait on the incoming train that is very inefficient and an ancient 19th century method and will only lead to failure again. It has to be very efficient, the trains are capital intensive. The Chinese have built and are building train infrastructures in Ethopia and other African Countries now we could use their expertise. The Ethopian and Kenyan terminals are almost like an airport terminal and very secure and orderly. This is what Kingston will need with a police post on site and riding to trains to keep criminals off the trains. Be mindful however of any debt traps.

If Jamaica had charged USA good money for all the bauxite they got for all those years , when they ran into financial problems they wouldn't have had to go borrow money from the IMF in the late 70s which was the beginning of Jamaica's economic downfall!!! Bustamante said it's only dirt!!!!

About what time of day was this filmed? Thanks for answering my previous question. Does the freight show up about the same times each day? If so what times do you see it/hear it?

No worries bro. The freight/bauxite train runs non-stop every day on the timing it does between the plant (source) and destination (shipping wharf). In case there is a conflict on the line with another train (passenger train) then a station like this one is used to wait/give way
