I recently bought one of these from the February batch. With my lights off, playing a game like Alien Isolation, I notice it in the corners during dark parts. It is strongest in the bottom left. It doesn't really pull me out of the experience unless I'm looking out for it. It's one of those things you could be anal about, and think about replacing, but then you're just as lightly to get another unit with pixel problems, or overclocking problems etc. I'm pretty happy with mine. Amazing screen really. I possibly have an audio issue when things are turned down.. it seems to distort or pulse slightly, but when you raise the volume gain it seems to go away. My only real criticism would be the menu buttons being inconsistent. Again, it's something you get you're head around after a while, but when you're learning you pull your hair out! For gaming, I'd strongly recommend a powerful system for top end graphics. Even with a single GTX 980 Ti modern titles like Witcher 3 and GTA V require settings to be dropped down to get acceptable frame rates in the 40-60 range. Classic titles that support ultrawide are more forgiving.. There, a 970/980 would probably be enough for games older than 2 years. I'd recommend this system to anyone with a beefy rig wanting a monitor that will stay with them into the pascal generation. When the Pascal XX80 ti is the released this monitor will shine. For the time being, Like 4k Monitors, I don't think the current gen of CPU's are good enough to handle ultra settings with a single card Otherwise, go for it, it's the best monitor I've ever seen.
I'm glad you did a right-click at 2:40. That really shows how amplified and blown out the light bleeds are, meaning in person, those light bleeds are barely noticeable. And yes, the camera does pick up the bleed and does not portray it as we see it. Thanks for the vid!~
Good Video. I was considering this monitor but was happy with 2560x1080p so was choosing between the z35 and xr3501. I went for the benq xr3501 and i am quite happy with it. But the z34 does look awesome!
100% agree! If i didn't see the BLB while watching content in 4:3 aspect ratio on a 16:9 screen. I wouldnt care at all! Thats what made me return the PG279q. That was last year though.
mine is very similar. shipped from newegg Canada, backlight bleed maybe a smidge more noticeable, other than that everything else has zero issues and I can clock to 100hz no problem. I'm feeling anal about the backlight bleed though but mostly because I am looking for it.
Well said. True. backlight bleed is an issue if you continuously look for perfection. Most of the screens has issue at the beginning or will soon develop one as we use by. Nothing is perfect. Just be happy with what we get. 👍
The worst thing is that when yo're buying some monitor , they won't tell you pros and cons about product yo're buying ! I got Viewsonic 32 inch LCD 2K monitor ( TN panel ) , but I couldn't test it i the shop, and when I came home and start using it , I saw backlight bleeding in the corners of the screen . First I thought it's some product isue , some damage of the screen . Now I'm wondering is it better to go on reclamation and tu buy some FHD or 4K LED TV or to keep this monitor and just get my eyes used to it ?
I just recieved my PG348Q "Same Panel" and I have literally the exact same amount of BLB, I am coming from acer predators 1440p 165Hz TN Panels..So this is my first IPS monitor is this considered okay? as you stated it isnt apparent until the screen is super dark , my only gripe is we pay $1100+ for these and still have to deal with imperfections I just feel like at that price point there shouldnt be ANY faults lol but is what it is I guess...
I think yours looks more or less fine, I have seen much worse. I switched over to VA panels cause I am so done with playing the IPS lottery everytime I buy a new monitor or TV, I know the viewing angles are sometimes not that great but I prefer this anytime over these glowing and bleeding ips issues.
I just got mine from memory express today and waiting for my PSU to arrive before I can run this .... I am a bit worried of all the issues I read online ...
Yes it is an issue!! All manufacturers should avoid this specially led screen that use backlight VA panel and TN, i returned a samsung tv VA panel with same issue to besbuy, they recommended me change this for a new one....i do it.......and....!!!!!same!!! Other tv same model with the same issue even worst, this time i go for the LG IPS panel.
some games like civ will look 10/10 crazy next level immersion however games like witcher 3 will slap you in the face with its back light bleeding effect it was the worst day ever when i sent mine back, now i spend my days waiting for the perfect monitor even contemplated a crt it got that bad #stayingstrong
+Anthony Abelardo ive settled for a low ball acer (sub £200) 25" ips with ips glow, until the market gets better, not ideal and totally wasting my pc current specs things wont change until tft move away from edge light back light (w led) ips glow is bad btw (its a shine reflective look when there is supposed to be near black)
Adam C Z35 has 100% sRGB. I can't set it up until the new computer desk arrives tomorrow. What I have will sag and break. Why don't you pick up the Z35 as it's VA instead of IPS?
+Anthony Abelardo wish ya the best with the z35 but i'd be replacing the white ips glow and blb with va's blue glow and spots on the screen lemme know if u won the monitor lottery, i was very tempted by it
I was about to buy this monitor, until I saw the bleeding problem claimed by people who suffer from it. For my perspective I don't really much care about it. It's still a good monitor for it's price.
We can't. You gotta replace. No monitors come with zero blacklight bleed. It happens as you use them. So don't worry much. If it really stress your eyes, just replace it. The thing is you there is no guarantee that the new monitor will be a better one.
I saw a suggestion how to fix the BLB... if my memory serves it was something like this (Hopefully you understand my incorrect grammar and spelling) Remove the back cover and place something enough thick on each corner. When you put the back cover back it squeezes the panel against the frame which might help to remove some of the BLB.

i bought one this week in a local store in Mexico and it has the same backlight as yours. Still a great monitor :)

mine too.. bleed in corners, bough one in France model - Predator 27 - 165hz .. same as in the video! excelent quality anyway :S
Yea the acer predators are pretty known for their crazy bleeding :/ , it is a shame cause they are such good monitors.
The worst thing is that when yo're buying some monitor , they won't tell you pros and cons about product yo're buying ! dude take it back i mean hope you did : my 17" predator (165hz overclock one) has so minimal keeping it

i could live with that light bleed, mine is AWFUL. Especially in the bottom left.

I can see my backlight bleed very well while watching your video it's intolerable.
Thanks yours looks pretty good.
All IPS panels are going to have a little bit of bleed in the corners - yours is more than fine.
There is backlight bleed but its corners and i think very tolerable.Middle looks pretty good.So no big issue.
I have a Dell 27 inch and have no backlight bleed the black is all uniform pitch black, am I lucky or QC on Dell is good?
I just got mine from memory express today and waiting for my PSU to arrive before I can run this .... I am a bit worried of all the issues I read online ...
how is it
im curious too
Did you get a discount for doing this video?
Haha, no I wish I got a discount. I just make UA-cam videos for fun.
cool thx then!!
+slayernine wow thats the least amount of backlight bleed I have seen yet on the x34. mine is much more noticeable
this is actually a really good screen
I can only see mine when it's a black screen and even then I have to focus on it, it's just a little in the top corners, doesn't bother me one bit

+Chickenbeek CRT's always make a faint high pitched noise that drives me nuts.
+Adam C did the new monitor have no backlight bleed?
+Anthony Abelardo ive settled for a low ball acer (sub £200) 25" ips with ips glow, until the market gets better, not ideal and totally wasting my pc current specs

Does that mean you stopped yourself from buying it because of the bleeding?
good luck a lot of monitor that have a ips panel have it so you might want to wait another year or 2
Out of curiosity, what brightness do you have yours set at?
I've changed it since the review but I believe at the time if the review I had it set quite high because I had to turn it down after.
good vid, thnx for sharing
How to remove it?

stop the blood
