I’m going to St Andrews in September and I just wanted to say thank you so much for your videos! I’m a Scottish student but I was always a bit nervous about picking the uni as it seemed quite intimidating to me but your videos have made me feel so much more relaxed and excited about going. I love your channel :)
OH MY GOSHHH I used to watch your videos years ago and was genuinely obsessed and am now researching st Andrews to decide if I should accept the offer there and I found you omg!!
Thank you Adela for this super informative video and your Dorm tour video. My daughter has applied to St Andrew's and your videos are very helpful to know more about the university.
AAAAH this video was so helpful. im applying for medicine to st andrews this year and my first choice was initially edinburgh but but starting to like st andrews more haha. thanks for the video loved it xx
Hello Adela. I'm an International student and I apply to the anthropology program this year. There are so many good things about St. Andrews, but there are also some concerns for me: I am also an introvert and being in such a small community makes me a bit nervous. I got an offer from UCL. Just want to know what's your opinion towards studying in these two schools?
@@ranyadizayee hi there. I ended up at St. Andrews because I like the flexible course structure here, and the fact that it’s old, by the North Sea and encourage sustainable lifestyles.
Hii! I had to make the same decision when deciding what Scottish unis to apply to in the first place. Feel free to DM me on instagram (Adela_140) if you'd like to chat about it :)
AAAAA that's exciting! I think my number one advice is to show critical thinking in the personal statement (by discussing and backing up your opinions or even something a bit controversial). In the first and second year there's around 150-250 students I think?? But then many people drop it and only like 100-150 students take it to honours for their actual degree:)
Hi Adela, I’m hopefully coming up to St Andrews this September and the video was so useful. Thank you! How many societies would you say is a good amount while keeping time for studying and unwinding?
Eeek that's so exciting!! I think it's nice to join at least one sports society and maybe another creative one. A sports society definitely takes more time (especially if you're in the first/second team and have many trainings a week). But all the academic societies really don't take any time at all (you buy a membership and then can go to all their events "for free") - there's usually an event from them every other week or so.. and it's nothing you couldn't skip if you didn't have time (unlike with sports events where your teammates are relying on you). So I recommend that you join at least one sports society, and maybe another creative one if you're into that:). And then just join as many academic societies as you want bc you can always not go to their events if you're busy.
Adela Amazing, thank you again! Keep up with the videos, I’ve not managed to find much else from a students perspective about St Andrews and yours have been so helpful. Maybe see you around in September!
Hi, Im coming to St Andrews this september. Do you remember the name or any other details about the family owned shuttle bus service you mentioned? Thanks
Hi!! I think I just realised it wasn't for me - I initially chose it because I really liked Chemistry, Bio and Maths in high school.. so I thought I'd do something along those lines in uni too. But after taking Econ as a "filler" module, I enjoyed it much more! Biochemistry is really memory-based and I love the maths and logic in Econ:) I still find a lot of things in Biochemistry interesting, but I enjoy Economics much more. So it was more of a "liking something better" situation, than "not liking biochemistry", if that makes sense hahah
Also, is it common for students to get to Edinburgh or other places during the weekend? I know perhaps locals won't really do this, but as an international student, I may want to have some chance go out and visit other wonderful places in UK!
Hi, My daughter went to St Andrews and Edinburgh is well within 'day trip' range of SA. That is, leave SA in the morning, take a bit more than an hour or so to get to Edinburgh, spend the day there, then return to SA in the evening. You could probably do that with all the major cities in Scotland. If you wanted to travel further afield in the UK you would probably want to have at least one or two overnight stays to make the journey worthwhile. Public transport in the UK is generally quite good but St Andrews is a little bit isolated. That, of course, is part of its charm, but it can also be a little inconvenient.
Hey I love your videos! Just one question, what process did you have to go through to change degree programmes from biochemistry to economics? I’m looking into St. Andrews myself and was wondering if I could enter the university as a chemistry student and then change my course later on if I choose to take another subject. Thanks in advance!
It's VK with two shots of vodka hahah. So a pablo can be any of the colours of VK (blue, red, yellow, orange etc) - the blue one and the red one are the best imo
