Unless you're going into law no one here knows what LSAT scores are good either lol. But I looked it up and the highest is 180 so Elle almost got a perfect score.
The reason Warner breaks up with Elle in the beginning isn't just because she's blonde. Warner admits that he considers his and Elle's relationship to be him fooling around... He compares her to Marylin Monroe, who is stereotyped as a sex icon. He's basically saying that she has no value to him outside of her looks. She doesn't catch it because she sees Marilyn for her incredible and successful career. Also side note, after so many rewatches, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be implied by the ring being brought up early and then the quick turnaround time between women that he was dating Elle and Vivian at the same time 🤢🤢🤢
This is my pet peeve - the problem people have with Elle is not _just_ that she's feminine. Literally every other woman at that law school is also very feminine. Vivienne and her friends, as well as the professor, are constantly wearing high heals, skirts, necklaces, earrings and a full face of makeup. The difference is that theirs is the professionally expected type of femininity. Not too bright and colorful, not too outlandish, not too _glamorous._ That's the real difference between Elle and the other women. And it's true that being this glamorous in this type of social context is frowned upon and will get you weird looks and snide comments. But the conclusion that some people seem to draw from this - that femininity in women is socially punished in professional contexts - is flat out false. It's _required._ Being actually butch would get you about as much backlash as Elle gets, just in a different flavour.
@@baguettegott3409 I know it’s been a while since you commented, but the clothing expectations of different careers is actually pretty complicated. Bright colors and shiny/sparkly things are distracting, which is not good when your job requires you to communicate effectively. Black, gray, beige, and white works best as a main color and some muted colors make for good accents. As for the other end of the clothing spectrum, the “butch” clothes look sloppy, whereas the suits look crisp, clean, and organized. Men aren’t allowed to show up to the office in jeans and a tshirt either and it’s for the same reason. What you wear depends on the context of the situation you’re in. So, you probably wouldn’t wear your interview outfit on a date or to the mall with friends, it doesn’t fit the situation. For example, I’ve worked in an office before, so office casual was my wardrobe. Recently, I changed careers to working in a power plant. Now, the colors and style doesn’t matter so much because I don’t deal with people and most of my communication is done with dirty old men, but I won’t be wearing anything nice to work either because I also get dirty. Another thing I have to keep in mind is the fabric, though. I have to wear all natural fibers, like wool or cotton, because I work with really hot machinery that can melt the plastics in synthetic materials. The clothes you wear are an extension of how you communicate with the world. It’s a super complex topic that really requires more space than a comment section of UA-cam, but it’s important to keep in mind that it’s way more complex than “femininity bad, masculinity good”.
This movie (while it is a product of its time considering the two gay roles are stereotypes) is fantastic at turning a sexist cliche on its head. The "bimbo" character has so much heart and is genuinely a nice person who pushes herself to be the best she can be and won't settle for someone beneath her, and the catty rival character turns into the protagonist's friend. For other reasons, Legally Blonde is a must-watch and a refreshing take. I'm glad to see you enjoyed it so much! c:
Don’t forget that the end game relationship wasn’t a driving force of the characters motives or story, but just a small background facet of her life and goals
Yes one of the best films in crashing the cliches of the “bimbo” character. As for the gay guys well they do look European and they raise their boys differently
Reese Witherspoon campaigned for the role of Elle as a career strategy. She knew her film history. A film called "Born Yesterday" was released back in highly-sexist 1950, starring Judy Holiday as the female lead. Judy looked at the script, which originally was just another B-movie stereotyped sex comedy so popular at the time. Judy decided to play the part as a more-rounded 3-dimensional character with a growth arc and a lot of heart. Judy Holiday won an Oscar for it. So Reese, looking at "Legally Blonde", saw it as a springboard for her own career. She played it with depth and heart and, though she didn't get an Oscar, she moved to a top-tier actor earning millions per film instead of a few hundred thousands. She had to push to get the part, because ironically she had done such fine acting in her most recent film ("Election") that they thought she really was the bitch her character was written to be in that film.
I first saw this movie when I was about eight and I told everyone I wanted to be a lawyer when I grew up for a whole two years. But then as I got older I realized that my inability to argue without crying would make that impossible.
See, the thing about perms is that to make your hair stay curly, they put a loooot of chemicals and product in it, and it has to stay in your hair for at least 24 hours, otherwise you'll deactivate the chemicals by rinsing them out and the curls will fall out.
@Truth Seeker I started getting perms very young, the first I remember was age 5 and I hated it but I was told my hair would be pretty and straight 🙄 I stopped getting them when 23 and it was the best thing I’ve ever done.
@@suzieq3604 When I was about 14 I refused anymore relaxers. Me and my mom argued but I said not EVER AGAIN. But I still continued to style my hair every single day because I was expected to. When I was 18 I learned about hair products for black hair. I learned what to use in my hair and how to actually take care of it and keep it healthy while also learning how to make my natural curls look good and not just a tangled frizzy mess. Now I have a full thick head of tight and bouncy natural coily 3c curls and my hair is actually GROWING, unlike before. I still straighten my hair now and then for special occasions or when I'm getting my hair cut to hack off the split ends and because of how well I'm taking care of my hair with my curl products, my hair goes quite a ways down my back when it's straight. Going natural is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
One of many brilliant things this movie do is not instigate women against each other, just because of some guy. And this is lovely. The amount of female rivalry that movies usually like to sell is almost offensive.
I still cannot get over Linda Cardellini ( Velma from the live-action Scooby-Doo films & Hawkeye's wife in the Age of Ultron ) as the perm lady getting questioned on the stand.
I love this movie for several reasons. I love that just because Elle is feminine and cutesy and maybe a little immature at the beginning doesn't mean that she isn't smart and capable of pursuing a legal degree. I love that while she has great, biting comebacks, she never turns into a hateful bitch to people who are unkind to her. But most importantly, I love that she realizes on her own that Warner is a piece of shit who isn't worth her time and the movie breaks away from romance being the driving force; the happy ending isn't that she found a good boyfriend or any of that mess, the happy ending is that she was very successful in law school and has a bright new career and future in front of her.
There is actually also a musical version of this and somehow...it is even better than the movie! It corrects some of the small mistakes the movie made and develops Elle and Emmett's relationship way more - also other characters get much bigger character arc!! I mean it is obvious since a musical is a bit longer than a movie so they had more time for it but still it's very nice to see!!
5:30 that comment is even funnier when you remember later she finds out he got waitlisted. She got in all on her own, and he had to call in special favors.
Legally Blonde is one of my comfort movies. It just makes me so happy and makes me laugh. I really love how Elle and Viv become friends, Elle being empowered by being great at law. Good stuff. One of my favs
Loved the reaction. And for me, as a girl, the fact that the girl who was framed to be the enemy and Elle actually became friends is so impactful. Because if you notice they always pitch women against each other in movies and it was just so refreshing to have them check their stereotypes, change them, become friends and actually start working together to battle real issues rather than just for guys. Like this movie is such a sigh of relief for women.

The LSAT is a test that people who want a career in law need to pass. The total you could get is a 180. She was told that to pass she needed a 175/180. She instead got a 179/180 (one point off from a perfect score)
Not to pass, but to get a score good enough for Harvard. I've seen a couple lawyers react to this and they say she did everything she needed to get in for real. The only inaccurate thing was the video - she would have needed to write an essay instead.
This’s one of my favorite movies, Elle actually was one of my inspirations when I decided I’m going to study Neuroscience… as many of us, I’m coming from a family who believes the way to wish me well is to prey for a wealthy husband for me. Elle’s struggle is something a lot of women go through in their life, and this movie (and the musical, which is AMAZING) is a reminder that what society expects from us isn’t the limit of what we can do.
"I get Owen Wilson vibes off him." Lol, that's because he's Owen Wilson's brother! Also, Welchy, you were super cute while watching this movie. I love the enthusiasm.
lol I just rewatched this yesterday, I think Warner broke up with El in the beginning because she was ditzy and a fashion major not because she was blonde although he’s still a jerk who wasn’t nearly good enough for her
I discovered one of the songs of the musical version recently ("There, Right There!"), and it was hilarious! The lyrics are amazing! "You are so gay, you big parfait, you flaming boy band cabaret!" "I'm straight!" "You were not yesterday~"
This is one of my favourite chick-flic's second to Miss congeniality. I am also a blond and agree that we should stick together lol. the sequel is not as good but is still worth the watch, so I recommend you give it a go!
When you said you get Owen Wilson vibes 🤣 they’re brothers so makes sense. LOVE this movie it’s a classic 👌🏻 also no the second one is not as good but I would still say you should watch it 👍🏻
3:35 The LSAT is the acronym for the Law School Admission Test. I've never taken it as I'm not a lawyer and never wanted to be one, but according to Wikipedia, the maximum score is 180, so a score of 175 would be very good, indeed.
Fun fact, Oz Perkins, playing the socially awkward colleague that Elle helps out and brings as an assistant in the big trial, is the son of Anthony Perkins. He's directed several cool horror films, including the recent Gretel and Hansel movie.
Omg, please watch the second one too! It's centered around her dog and has the same feel-good vibes as this one! Also has some unexpected twists and great characters.
honestly, the musical is so much better to me (though i do love the movie) bc it develops elle and emmet's relationship wonderfully, as well as vivian and elle's friendship. also the songs are just. so catchy. and the musical numbers are soooo
1:18 the thing she says about the fabric snagging is actually inaccurate. It wouldn't snag, it would pucker. The musical actually addressed this and changed the line.

If you're ever interested Legally Blonde the musical is one UA-cam and the music is amazing!! It's actually a ideally good movie to musical with a huge fan base, they did really well with it! I was very surprised. It's old now but still good!
You HAVE to watch 'legally blonde the musical'!!! It is AMAZING! also it was uploaded to UA-cam by MTV so I don't 'think' there will be copyright issues not sure about that. I actually prefer the musical to the film now, the songs really help flesh out the characters and helps you get into Elles mindset as she goes though her journey, also the song 'gay or European' (about the pool boy in court) is hysterical!
It's a cheesy movie, but it has a lot of good messages, likes not stereotyping people, caring about fashion and such doesn't mean you're dumb, and girls don't have to always fight over a guy they can be friends instead. It's nice that Elle doesn't have to stop being feminine to be a good lawyer.
For the record I just googled to find out exactly when it came out cuz it's been a hot minute it came out the summer of 2001 literally this movie is 20 years old now
5:47 scary or not, what she was doing had a point: you can't afford to not stand by your decisions in the courtroom. You do that, you could end up losing your case. It's like that scene in the beginning of Whiplash: he wasn't wrong, but the point was he didn't know that. Which is bad.
Okay since you've never seen a Reese Witherspoon movie before I am going to look some up that I think you would enjoy cuz it's been a hot minute since I saw any of her movies so I might not think of some of them I found out on her IMDb page she was up for the lead role in scream and urban legend and turn them down she didn't want to do a horror movie she was also considered for the role of Juliet in 1996's Romeo plus Juliet which went to Claire Danes I love all of those movies I don't know if it would have worked with her though it says on her IMDb in 1990 she got her first role which came out in 91 it's called The Man in the Moon she was in a movie called fear in 96 with Mark Wahlberg then freeway later that same year with Keith for Sutherland then she got bigger rolls that I think of when I think of her pleasantville in 98 election in 1999 cruel intentions in 1999 then what they called her breakout role is this one legally blonde and then it has a sequel of course she also had a movie called Sweet home Alabama I heard was very good but I never saw it Walk the line in 2005 she mostly did ROM comes after that and none of which I've seen it says for Christmas is in 08 how do you know in 2010 she was apparently in gone girl in 2014 and wild in 2014 by the way she married her co-star from cruel intentions but they got divorced in 2007 they had two kids together and the guy she's currently married to they've been together since or married since 201 11 and have one kid together they say on this site she's known for playing mostly chipper women convinced of their own successful destiny expressive face smooth voice with a strong southern accent, blonde hair and blue eyes
There's actually 3 Legally Blonde movies: This one, its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde, and a third one Legally Blondes; though the 3rd one focuses more on Elle Woods' 2 British cousins who move to California for prep school than it does Elle herself.
Reese Witherspoon movies I've watched: Cruel Intentions, Election, Fear, Hot pursuit, Just like heaven, Legally blonde 1&2, Man in the Moon, Overnight delivery, Penelope, Pleasantville, Sweet home Alabama, This means war, Walk the line, Water for Elephants, & A wrinkle in Time.
One Reese Witherspoon that is an absolute must is Sweet Home Alabama. Now as for Luke and Owen Wilson they have another brother who is in both the Charlie’s Angels movies. The Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu version
I always recommend this to whoever watches this movie: see the musical. It's professionally recorded here on UA-cam and it's so much better (pun intended, u will get it if u watch it). It's called "Legally Blonde the Musical".
Omg used to love this movie back when it came out. Still hoping you check out Wolfwalkers. It’s a film I guarantee you’ll love, especially if you love dogs and animals.
'I get an owen wilson vibe from him'... maybe its because thats Luke Wilson who is Owen Wilson's brother. I love this movie and the musical is also bomb (and a proshot version is available on UA-cam)
When she found out that she had Lipo Suction, she could have just told a judge she was having surgery. Provide medical records, and boom...done. And HIPAA laws would have protected her.
One thing I do like is that while this movie is about bias, the MC is also very biased towards other ppl. But then learns that her biases are also wrong and she can’t expect ppl to be not biased against her if she’s the exact same. Except the gay scene, I still strongly dislike that scene.
Probably gives you Owen Wilson vibes because it's his brother Luke, they also have another brother Andrew who acts and directs, Wes Anderson likes to use the three of them a lot in his movies
omg you should watch Anastasia and/or Enchanted. Anastasia was my one of my favorite movies growing up and still is. I watched Enchanted a few days ago and it was hilarious 😭 it would be great to see you react to one of these or both
I just found your channel and watch all your videos today i think your videos are great i was wondering since you did coco their is another mexico themed disney movie called the book of life and would seem like a movie youd enjoy again loved the channel
Pooh Bear is a reference to the character with the same name from "Winnie, the Pooh" book series. In this case it's a pet name for Elle. I think it shows he doesn't really take her seriously. And the reference to Marilyn Monroe - President Kennedy allegedly cheated on his wife Jackie with Marilyn Monroe. She was just his sidepiece.
if you liked the movie you should check out the musical they made based on it! elle and emmett have so much more chemistry in there, the music is PEAK and it's free on youtube!!

@@dulcimerrafi Exactly, that's what i meant! lol like being the first reese movie in 2021 is bad lmao but it happens
“I’ve just shat myself” 🤣🤣 I almost spit out my coffee 😂
I just found this channel and I LOVE it!❤️
Omg I found him through his hunger games reaction and I've been hooked ever since!
This is my all time favorite movie. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and great reaction as usual. FYI do not see the second it is horrible.
I love how you ended up so invested in the movie. Also it was adorable the way you cracked up at Elle's comebacks.
This movie is a MASTERPIECE. I appreciate something new about it every time I watch it.
Love your commentaries🥰
😊
“How does the snap work? I can just think of T. rex”😂😂😂😂😂😂
Legally blonde is the best woman empowerment movie, love it 🥰
I was not expecting this ♥️
Omg, please watch the second one too! It's centered around her dog and has the same feel-good vibes as this one! Also has some unexpected twists and great characters.
You must watch Sweet Home Alabama! It's one of my favorite Reese Witherspoon movies.
Yes yes yes.
Just Like Heaven is high up on the list for me, too.
honestly, the musical is so much better to me (though i do love the movie) bc it develops elle and emmet's relationship wonderfully, as well as vivian and elle's friendship. also the songs are just. so catchy. and the musical numbers are soooo
I totally agree!!
With my own toilet paper I’m a folder, but whenever I’m in a public bathroom with thin toilet paper I give up and just get as may layers as I can
Same 😂
I'd love it for you to watch the rest of the Legally Blondes, they're good films. Almost maybe Princess Diaries?? Thanks Welchy ! x
1:18 the thing she says about the fabric snagging is actually inaccurate. It wouldn't snag, it would pucker.
The musical actually addressed this and changed the line.
found this channel when i was watching disney reactions, found your brave reaction and i'm now obsessed with all of your videos lol!!! i'm brazilian and i love accents and honestly, your accent makes everything better!!! btw, love this movie and i loved your reaction!!!
If you're ever interested Legally Blonde the musical is one UA-cam and the music is amazing!! It's actually a ideally good movie to musical with a huge fan base, they did really well with it! I was very surprised. It's old now but still good!
11:20 - that's because Owen is his brother 😂 This is Luke Wilson
Welch’s looking completely flabbergasted watching the bend and snap is hilarious
This brings me so much joy!!! And it makes me wanna rewatch the movie too, I'm gonna do that tonight.
Do you plan on doing more of the avatar series 🥺🥺 ?
It's a cheesy movie, but it has a lot of good messages, likes not stereotyping people, caring about fashion and such doesn't mean you're dumb, and girls don't have to always fight over a guy they can be friends instead. It's nice that Elle doesn't have to stop being feminine to be a good lawyer.
Your videos always make my day, man. Hope You're having a good one.
I don’t know how this is sooooo good it just is.. the second one is great too.. big love from New Zealand.. tootles ❤️
For the record I just googled to find out exactly when it came out cuz it's been a hot minute it came out the summer of 2001 literally this movie is 20 years old now
If you like this, you should definitely watch Legally Blonde the broadway musical!! You'll LOVE it
Love the reaction. Just the right person to be reacting. He's funny and blond to boot. I don"t know if it's stereotyping but his accent is wonderful.
Please use punctuation.
Legally blonde the musical has a proshoot online 👀👀
you HAVE to watch 13 going on 30!!! such an amazing movie
Im so glad you reacted to this I love this movie XD Please react to White Chicks next!
This is LITERALLY my favorite movie ever🤩
and helloooo first comment😉
Ayyy 😆
I’m at the hospital this week, so a new update from Welchy just made things better 🥲
11:41 I died laughing. help!
Loved the reaction. Fellow folder here as well hahahaha
In defence of the shoes thing… It is logical not to wreck them. They were probably super expensive. Thousands of dollar shoes should not be wrecked.
A big yes to Legally Blonde 2 😁
There's also a musical based off of this morning and it's amazing. And available on YT :)
“I get Owen Wilson vibes off him”
I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS A DELIBERATE JOKE OR NOT BECAUSE THAT’S OWEN WILSON’S BROTHER
I didn’t know lol
You should watch “she’s the man” with Amanda Bynes if you’ve never have! another classic
4:34 Well the Lady told her she needed at least 175 on her test to be accepted, so I guess 179 is really good.
I always recommend this to whoever watches this movie: see the musical. It's professionally recorded here on UA-cam and it's so much better (pun intended, u will get it if u watch it). It's called "Legally Blonde the Musical".
The reason you get Owen Wilson vibes from the actor who plays Emmet is because that's Owen's brother, Luke Wilson.
Omg used to love this movie back when it came out.
Still hoping you check out Wolfwalkers. It’s a film I guarantee you’ll love, especially if you love dogs and animals.
I thought your reaction was hilariously entertaing!!!...Thank You!!!...😂😂👏👏😍😍👍👍
Why has it taken me till NOW to realise the Warner is ALARIC SALTZMAN FROM TVD!!!!!!!
Now I need you to watch the musical 😁
'I get an owen wilson vibe from him'... maybe its because thats Luke Wilson who is Owen Wilson's brother. I love this movie and the musical is also bomb (and a proshot version is available on UA-cam)
Whaaaaat?! Didn’t even know he had a brother 😂 mad
Lol, literally Owen Wilson's brother "how'd I look as a blonde?" Like Owen Wilson....
I like this movie because it teaches people that anyone who chooses to change CAN change.
She chooses to become better, and does become better.
Great reaction!
When she found out that she had Lipo Suction, she could have just told a judge she was having surgery. Provide medical records, and boom...done. And HIPAA laws would have protected her.
Wow there is the lukyless persone on the vampire diaries: prof Alaric Saltzman
One thing I do like is that while this movie is about bias, the MC is also very biased towards other ppl. But then learns that her biases are also wrong and she can’t expect ppl to be not biased against her if she’s the exact same.
Except the gay scene, I still strongly dislike that scene.
If you wanted to know, the guy who is drawing during the audience does that because caméras are forbidden in audience rooms.
He's actually Owen Wilson's brother 11:20 lol
Probably gives you Owen Wilson vibes because it's his brother Luke, they also have another brother Andrew who acts and directs, Wes Anderson likes to use the three of them a lot in his movies
Sunday Upload! Good Afternoon Welchy 😁
Good afternoon Lily!
Oh man, you almost got blown from laughing. Luke Wilson is Owen Wilson's brother, is "the vibe" clear now, mate?
omg you should watch Anastasia and/or Enchanted.
She was just his sidepiece.
ooohh do legally blonde 2 as well please!! more elle woods is always good! also theres many many more dogs
if you liked the movie you should check out the musical they made based on it! elle and emmett have so much more chemistry in there, the music is PEAK and it's free on youtube!!
