Best feeling ever is being in the middle of nowhere screaming with your entire might in a pasture during a rain storm!! Letting out rage is SO important! So relieving and I love you see folks talking about it especially women/queer/poc any minority that has been oppressed systematically, the rage builds up and destroys us from the inside out we must release ourselves from it

I had put this book in my wishlist ages ago and didn't realize it had finally released. I also noticed I had some Kindle credits so it was a perfectly timed reminder to go buy it!
The section on rage rituals really made me feel heard. I don't know if it's an experience thing but when you lived in rage and craved to be feared, once you end rage's reign, it becomes much easier to decipher. If it's a recent ending relationship with rage, it can be scary to try and release it in a healthy way, but after years of listening, compromising, letting it have it's voice, it becomes easier to decipher healthy rage versus unhealthy. If you're used to stuffing rage, I can see why you would think rage rituals would be harmful, and it could very well be the first few times, since you've stuffed it so long, and you slowly gain control of it. Unfortunately, our parents never taught us how to properly regulate ourselves nor did they show us, in a lot of instances, healthy ways to deal with anger.
Absolutely loved this I also feel that scream cleansing is my way of showing that I'm still in control and it certainly works although I don't make it a habit but the environment I live amongst does hold alot of negative energy that seems to want to tackle 😂..really enjoyed this vid ..I'm certainly thinking of purchasing the book, thankyou ❤

I come from the Reclaiming and the Anderson Feri tradition of witchcraft. I’m in three different books that I know of on witchcraft, but I’m very dyslexic so I’ve never written anything myself. I’m saying all this just to empower you as somebody younger!! you are the next generation who we’ve passed the wand to and you’re doing it damn good job. I got this book as soon as it came out in Sweden and I haven’t read it yet but I will tonight. My witchcraft practice really took off after trauma. I’m an SA survivor (and also a CSA survivor) and I already did practice witchcraft but after the assault and was in therapy I also used my spirituality as my tool to express myself and to do “self-therapy”. I started with shadow work and it really took off right there. When I heard about this book from Hearth Witch channel I knew I had to have it. Thank you for this conversation❤

I also keep all my notes and musings in the same journal. Each thought has a little color coded dot next to it for reference later, but that's really all I do to keep "separate" my witch-life from my other thoughts. It's very freeing and streamlined. Maybe one day I'll scan all the pages with my witch-specific thoughts and plans and make a separate book. But for now, it's nice to see all my thoughts and plans in one place and see how my mind was working that day.
absolutely agreed -- this was SUCH a healing conversation. the part about repressing rage and anger hits so deep...i know just a few months ago, i actually allowed myself to scream at the top of my lungs in my car (in an empty parking lot), and it was so cathartic. also...just bought Witch in Darkness on Kindle. :) i've really been struggling to finish a book for a while now, but this conversation and your passion for Kelly-Ann's work really sold me. i'm excited to read it!

Great and timely interview! Feel validated as I'm also terrified of the dark. A long time back I went caving with my boss for the first time. At the start it was fun, chimneying up narrow spaces, crawling on my belly through the mud. We got really deep in the cave. Apparently, it is a tradition among cavers to turn off all the lights. I don't know how long the lights were out, an eternity? At the point where I thought I would start screaming and never stop they turned the lights back on. That experience encapsulates witch in darkness. ❤

I LOVE journaling too. I have been journaling since 18. I am 51! Sadly I don't have my former journals, but I LOVE the idea of poppet work in a journal, that is really cool! I'm definitely going to try that. I agree with Kelly that I would be so lost without my journaling. I can't function really without it. It's free therapy for me and it's where I do my best witch work. I LOVE Kelly's new book, btw...I lost my brother this past September and it was helpful to me, cause I was already in a dark place, even before his death. So thank you Kelly!! I just bought this book two weeks ago! I went into a little book shop in Columbus to use the bathroom and they were so nice to me so I asked where their witchy section was and that was literally the only book they had. Lol but it just absolutely called to me and I haven't got a chance to start reading it yet but I'm so excited to get into it! I really appreciated the discussion of rage and expressing rage. I think it’s so important to express whatever you are feeling so you can let it out…I don’t think it’s good to bottle anything up inside. I think we all know that we feel better after a good cry session…the release of that energy is freeing and brings about a bit of calmness and peace. Rage is the same…I think it’s dangerous to keep it bottled in an allowed to fester.
OMGG Kelly-Ann Maddox needs no introduction 🤩. I wish I could have started journaling sooner like in my 20’s. I’m struggling with it 😅. I too couldn’t figure out what to do with all these journals for topics, trying to keep them organized. It’s chaotic and it’s intimidating …. As a child not only in nature, but also after family lunches I would collect all the leftovers from the glasses and combine them in a magick powerful potion 😁 also, I felt totally called out about having separate journals 😂 time for me to alchemize them all 🩷
Side note I received my book Angels and archangels by Damien echols, it's a game changer I have learned so much about the difference between them and how to work with them in my practice if I choose to, I feel like it's always great to have knowledge and understanding and wisdom of other things to use in your magic

I really appreciated the discussion of rage and expressing rage. I think it’s so important to express whatever you are feeling so you can let it out…I don’t think it’s good to bottle anything up inside. I think we all know that we feel better after a good cry session…the release of that energy is freeing and brings about a bit of calmness and peace. Rage is the same…I think it’s dangerous to keep it bottled in an allowed to fester.

OMGG Kelly-Ann Maddox needs no introduction 🤩. I wish I could have started journaling sooner like in my 20’s. I’m struggling with it 😅. I too couldn’t figure out what to do with all these journals for topics, trying to keep them organized. It’s chaotic and it’s intimidating …. I had to laugh 😆 I am moving forward with ONE ☝🏼 and hope that I can keep up. Thank you Ivy this was 🤌🏼awesome….get some rest 😍

One of my favorite things about the title of Kelly-Ann’s book is that it can be read in two ways - witch as a noun (I am a witch in darkness) or witch as a verb (I do my best witching in darkness). Thanks for this beautiful convo from 2 of my fave! As a child not only in nature, but also after family lunches I would collect all the leftovers from the glasses and combine them in a magick powerful potion 😁 also, I felt totally called out about having separate journals 😂 time for me to alchemize them all 🩷

Side note I received my book Angels and archangels by Damien echols, it's a game changer I have learned so much about the difference between them and how to work with them in my practice if I choose to, I feel like it's always great to have knowledge and understanding and wisdom of other things to use in your magic

I totally relate to the journals thing, as my book of shadows and grimoire and even daily journal and food journal started to merge. It’s all connected and it’s so clear to me now.
Yes and it also helped to separate them at first, to even honor them as things worth tracking.
I have lotus tattoos on my foot and chest because of No Mud, No Lotus! The book and Thich Nhat Hahn in general are fantastic. This whole convo was incredibly comforting 💖
