Well said. Miming and backing tapes are a total disgrace and no self-respecting act should be using them.
Hell yeah, Heart plays live. 73-year-old Ann Wilson is a little husky with a raspy speaking voice, but unafraid to tackle anything… even Led Zeppelin. A consummate professional
I suspect most people now see Stones' gigs as part of the must see list like visiting the pyramids or seeing an eclipse.
and they are as old as the pyramids!
You are not really seeing the Stones, you are seeing Mick and Keith and their backing band.Ok Ronnie has been with them a long time and is legally a Stone but how many of their great songs did he play on?
@@andrewhudson8966 they are basically a tribute band at this point
only a tad less magical though 😃
The problem is not entirely new. I saw Yes twice on the 90125 tour in 1984 (London and Brum). I was impressed by how well Tony Kaye coped with the Wakeman material. Only recently did I discover that they had a second keyboard player offstage.
Most bands have extra musicians offstage. That's as old as the hills...
I’m done with concerts, too expensive for me. I’m still a physical media guy so I’ll buy their music.
Yip. Stopped going many years ago when it all become stadium rock. Why pay and arm and a leg to watch a big screen? Give me the days of the small theatres when even at the back you still had a great view.
It's usually the fans that have no standards at all that will pay any price for extremely low performance standards. I will throw The Boss in there as well. . Boss fans will mortgage their homes Their retirement and children's education just to have nose bleed seats.
Same here.
Concerts stopped catering to real fans decades ago. It's now all corporate and catered to people with disposable money.
ditto. my last real concert was in 2000…
00.50 so true, the greater part of audiences are there to be able say I went to see so and so.The number of times I have had to ask people behind me to be quite as they spend all the time talking and are not bothered about what is happening on the stage.
No different to professional sports audiences. In both cases, the crowds heavily consist of the well paid corporate guys and their corporate guests. They are there for the event experience.
I’ve seen the Stones do Undercover live (2004?) Glendale AZ.
It's not just miming and backing tapes. Autotune is now being used at live gigs. Fil @ Wings of Pegasus has done loads of videos about this.
Well hurrah for Heart, a band whose first album mysteriously appeared in my collection in the mid-70s - I presume a legacy of a girlfriend of the time - and has never ever been played, by me, to this day. I might even play it in honour.
'Out of Time'
'Live with Me'
'Under My Thumb'
'Miss Amanda Jones'
Are all RS tunes I'd love to hear if I attended one of their shows
I think the stones guitars are definitely live Barry. If you watch any of the footage that has popped up on youtube from this tour it is live -warts and all! Keef even fluffed his first attempt at the opening chords of Start me up at one of the gigs, and Ronnie is clearly playing live - albeit a bit ragged at times.
They are live. Ronnie and Keith can barely play anymore. Chords are poorly formed(when remembered), solos are increasing lame, repetitive and mis-fretted(clams). I watched the entire 18 song set from New Orleans. Keith is barely there mentally. You can see and hear it. Very sad.
@@spyderlogan4992 He was also recovering from COVID. Might have something to do with it. Better to asses how he is doing a little later into the tour.
@@DogTrekker yea he will get going - i think they always start kinda slow and Keith was killing it in 2022 - Ill see them no matter what but yea first two shows at least on you tube are not my fav (I heard the covid rumor too)
@@spyderlogan4992 Ronnie has moments in every song where he looks like a cadaver.
@@flazjsg Right, but he's been having those moments since The Faces, long time....😃
Most people dont care about integrity of live music sadly. They’d just be as happy listening to CDs played through stadium speakers while watching holograms of the bands on stage
Oh, it's coming. I wonder what phone cam filter will be the most complimentary to holograms?
From the clips I've seen the E Street Band should now be called the E Street Orchestra, there are so many of them on stage.
Maybe they should get a conductor too 😊
Probably why the tickets are so dear.
I saw them a few weeks ago. 18 people on stage.
Yeah, they have a full horn section and backup singers. So what?
@@stephenallsman8913 Well it wasn't necessary in the past, was it? The only time I have seen Springsteen was back in 1981 I didn't feel cheated at the lack of horns or backing singers. I know that he is old now and can't fill the stage in the way that he once could, I'm not knocking him for this. I was only making what I thought was an amusing quip.
Heart here in Utah with Cheap Trick, getting tickets for that.
I can't get no Sanatogen! Nearly fell on the floor laughing with that one!
Totally agree with the "small bands/venues" comments. I adore some of these legendary acts but for live gigs so much better to see small (cheap) gigs at those local venues that need support. Just before covid, I saw Mercury Rev at a small 200 seat club in Leeds. Also The Lemon Twigs at Leeds University. Top acts.
Awesome Tull t-shirt, man!
In 2016 (I think it was) Keith was certainly singing "Happy" as he forgot the words halfway through and had to riff for a minute as he finally caught up with himself 😂
Enlightening, engaging and spot on as usual. Going to see Yes for the first time ever! Loved them since I was 16, I’m 50 this month! They were never cool, and I thought they would fall incredibly far from their 70’s glory days! I’m with you on Topographic Oceans! Adore it. Glad you have vouched for the current line up! The set list you described sounds amazing! I love ‘Mirror to the Sky’ best thing they have done for ages! Thanks for all your UA-camr genius! You got me into Andy Edward’s and he loves you. I do too. Come on Yes! (It’s rubbish trying to be cool! The musical audacity of Yes is cool asf❤)
There's no way the Stones are miming! Jeez, part of the appeal is the fact that it might fall down any second :-) They have used a backing track for years on Sympathy, but that's only effectively been percussion and/or click track for the light show...; I'm a long standing Keith Watcher and he's playing with more care and attention currently than any other period in thr last 30 years..;
I haven't really been impressed with a Stones setlist since the No Security tour. Bruce and E Street do mix it up with their catalog. Great video once again!
I saw Springsteen in Cardiff on Sunday, I’m glad to say the setlist had been adjusted with the return of some great choices. At almost 75 he puts many to shame!
Me too
Joan Jett last year: 55 minutes for $90. Worth every penny. All live. And i was home by 10:00.
Status Quo - even with just one original member still puts on a genuinely good live show.
Considering how deep the Stones’ catalogue is, I think this setlist is fairly balanced. In New Orleans they also played Whole Wide World from their new album, and they also invited Irma Thomas to sing Time Is On My Side with them.
I say play Emotional Rescue start to finish. 😉
No need to play Miss You for ten minutes;Sympathy; Paint It Black; You cant always…; Tumbling…, etc. So many songs to choose from but the same songs tour after tour.
@@fdsuperstar2547 i guess they think people don't want "lesser knowns". Unfortunately, that's likely true of most
Yes used a backing track for We Have Heaven in 2014. Otherwise, they’d have to hire more singers.
Tony Kaye for years triggered pre-recorded samples to cover 90125 and Big Generator sounds live.
But these are exceptional.
I saw Blondie last week and I was checking to see if there was some miming or vocal trickery going on with Deborah Harry, but it appeared like she was still doing it (a lot of assists on backing vocal however). If she was faking I was fooled.
Love your posts and sense of humor. Easily the best music commentary out there.
Small bands to see live, Big Big Train astonishing
I was lucky enough to see them with the late David Longdon, plus one of my heroes, Dave Gregory. They were tremendous.
Saw them last year, superb
I saw the yes tour in the states last fall. It was great.
I saw them on the last tour as well
Seeing them with Deep Purple in August.
I@@travisbickle3797I'm planning on going to see them also.
Love the shirt, Barry! So bring me my broadsword and clear understanding!!!
Without Chris Squier, YES is incomplete.
Goes without saying. He was a dynamo. RIP
Ok.
Yes is very incomplete 🤣
Sadly, agree.
Great video, only recently discovered your work. Thanks for the heads-up on the Yes set-list. Have always managed to miss the tours when they’ve performed Turn of the Century and Going for the One. Had tickets for at least 18 months, it was supposed to be the Relayer album tour, which is ironic since it’s now the 50th anniversary of Relayer.
Love the channel. Love the shirt. I saw that 1982 tour.
Just finished listening to Blue & Lonesome on vinyl, and, again, a video comes out... Are you a wizard? Is my house bugged?😅
Great content, as always 👌
Good video and very informative
Seems like it's all come full circle for these bands - they start out miming their hits on TV shows, and close out their careers miming their hits in stadiums.
Love the reviews, love the shirt, as well, mate! Cheers!
I saw sabbath in 2013. Their show was so perfect I couldn’t help but think it was played to backing tracks. that being said, it was the first and only time I saw them live.
Sabbath stayed pure Sabbath. I saw the reunion 99 Seattle 2000, 2013 Vancouver. All real all amazing.
Superb Analysis
😊🏴☠️🎩
You are spot on with your take on The Rolling Stones set list. I am going to see them in Philadelphia. Tired of Start Me Up and Tumbling Dice. No Midnight Rambler and It’s Only Rock and Roll?
When seeing KISS and Roger Waters on their most recent tours, I was a bit suspicious on how good Paul Stanley and Roger sounded on some songs. Then I did find out about the lip-synching allegations (score one for Polly Sampson!) with UA-cam videos as evidence. I have no interest in seeing The Eagles since Glen Frey passed, now they're just Don Henley and Friends. Mick sounded pretty great on the last Stones tour but I did hear the rumors about backstage enhancements for Keith and Ronnie (but the rhythm section was tight AF). Although I haven't seen a "Yes" show since ARW, I'm willing to check Howe and Company since they're still keeping it real.
To be correct, “Yes” should be called Steve Howe Performing The Music Of Yes
Springsteen has a basic setlist structure that he uses, but he always swaps out a few songs each night, often a few more when he performs in New York or New Jersey. And he damn sure isn't using any backing tracks. The size of the band may seem excessive at a glance, but everyone onstage serves a purpose. He's still an incredible performer. And he's no slouch on the guitar.
Agree 100%, saw him in Rome last year and seeing him this month in Sunderland. His live show is still worth every penny and he is still an unbelievable performer. The Stones however, from the clips I've saw so far of the tour, the guitar playing is so sub par now it really does affect the quality of the live shows and there is no hiding it.
Great channel. Lately I very much enjoy more quiet, conversational videos that test and challenge my mind (and memory). Thanks for the break from the "real world". By all means carry on.
I saw the Counterfeit Stones playing at a mini tribute festival in Hampshire last August. The band was some way into the set and Nick Dagger said he was going to dedicate the next song to Phillip Schofield: "Ladies and gentlemen...You Can't Always Get What You Want!"
As a hardcore Sones fan,it’s been awhile since I’ve gone to a show, but I will be going to see them in Las Vegas and L.A, the main reason for going again, my kids are now old enough, Lol! I wanted them to see them! I am definitely a little nervous about the shows, but this will be the last time for us!
Hey Barry... Huge Yes fan here, saw them about four times over the years and got to see Steve Howe solo at a small club. I really like their current set list. But I don't think I have any interest seeing them live anymore. I see them more as a Yes cover band than actual Yes... As for lip syncing I have no use for it. It's called "live" for a reason... Take care
Tickets bought for heart in July can't wait.
Great 'Broadsword and the Beast' t-shirt!
Just saw Jethro Tull again on Tuesday in Glasgow , and although Ian's voice seemed a bit better than last time I saw him, I really wish he would bring on a co-vocalist to reinforce him, especially on the highs. I do notice he is better with newer material and presume he is writing with his limited range in mind. I find the breathing tricks he uses to help rather distracting. But overall I am glad he has not resorted to trickery.
I also thought it wasn't loud enough, but that maybe reflects my hearing, as my sons thought it was fine.
How was the show overall? I've seen Tull more than any other band but not since Martin left.
The Tales medley was outstanding. Don't miss it.
Agree with all your sentiments - just wonder how you feel about how you feel about playing to an in-ear click track.
This is a great channel, and some excellent perspectives shared. I agree about the integrity of music not being upheld by legacy acts, and went to one concert. Which was the Mitley Crue/Def Leopard/Joan Jett and Poison when they came to Toronto a couple years ago. Since then, I saw Metallica with the Pantera tribute and Wolfgang VH. The latter was a great live show, and I could hear the mistakes and tempo movements, that indicate that human element. The former I mentioned…..wel…it was one of those ” I was there” moments.
Please keep the good work you do coming, I find myself really enjoying your videos. I need to find the one of you talking about David Coverdale, as that would shock me…he’s always sang what he could, but maybe I was fooled or I’m mistaken the intent of his inclusion. I must find out. Love his voice, or did before his injury.
Cheers, and thank you! ❤
I have to disagree with your opinions on the Rolling Stones being boring. I’m a fan- seen them 4 times. The first time being 1990 at Wembley. The last full concert with Bill Wyman. Most recently I saw them in 2022 at Hyde Park. The enthusiasm from the crowd has not diminished. I was with someone who prefers the Who. I said you have to see the Stones at least once. We went and they agreed it was phenomenal. The fact that they DO play the hits is why the general public feel that they can go and sing along. I’d love deeper cuts but maybe that’s for a smaller venue just for the die hard fans?
The last time I saw the Stones in Brisbane they played ‘Silver Train’, which was a pleasant surprise.
There's a thing I call the "Hamilton Effect" that might apply to some of these "legacy" acts.
You don't go to see Hamilton because you want to see Hamilton. You go to see Hamilton because you want to be seen seeing Hamilton.
So you're saying that Hamilton is not a quality production and script? Have you seen Hamilton.
There's no reason to go to a concert if it is not totally live. I can stay home and play the record for free. I agree that the thing to do is go to a club or small venue to see live music. There are many terrific acts to see. In recent years I've seen John Hiatt, Al Stewart, Richard Thompson, and Willie Nile in small clubs. Some of the best shows I've seen.
I've been wondering about Ronnie and Keith (especially Keith). I've watched video of this and the last tour and it's made me wonder if they are actually playing live. It seems as if Keith often is not playing yet you can hear two guitars. And he hardly moves anymore or has any facial expression. Audience video from the opening show in Houston of this tour Keith looks like he's planted on stage. In the one song I watched he doesn't acknowledge anyone else on stage and seems so detached.
I agree with your comments about the Stones set list. If you look at them over the past 40 years or so, the first half is interesting. They pull out some old, seldom played, chestnuts, and some interesting covers. Then the second half is the same old thing, Jumping Jack Flash, Street Fighting Man, Sympathy for the Devil, Honky Tonk Women, Tumbling Dice, Start Me Up, Midnight Rambler, and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. I've been a Stones fan since 1964 and have everything they've ever released (and much that they haven't). But it's been 20 years since I've seen them live.
I'm also a big Springsteen fan, ever since The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle (still my favorite Bruce album) and have seen him many, many times. I'd burn all of his albums if he ever played live to backing tracks or lip-synched. I suspect my Bruce collection is safe because I can't imagine he'd ever do something that shitty. In recent years he has been sticking to a standard set list for each tour, with little change from night to night. This is too bad for fans who follow him from show to show, but understandable for a guy in his mid-70s.
Can you imagine if Dylan tried to get away with lip-synching to backing tracks of his 60s and 70s records? That would be hilarious. I'd almost pay to see that.
My cousin's band Ghosthounds is opening for The Rolling Stones for 4 shows here in North America. So that's kind of neat on a personal level.
Yeah, I don't know how 'Miss You' has become the concert staple the past 40 years. It's alright, but it's my least favorite song on my favorite Rolling Stones album. It's like there's a formula: 13 songs rotated-in from a list of about 20 songs, 4 songs from the newest album and a song voted in from the fans. Just imagine if it was reversed and the fans could vote for the majority of the songs Vote for your top 15 songs, and that's the show.
I pretty much agree with everything you said in this video. I’m all for Yes ditching The River song from The Ladder and doing the title track from their most recent album. Would love to hear your thoughts about the recently announced Asia tour with Curved Air, Focus, and Martin Turner.
I was in a Rush Tribute, 3 of us managed a reasonable show without backing tracks, we sounded really rocky rather than clinical, I liked it .
That's tough. I saw a tribute band with a female singer. I liked her voice better than a male singing that high.
@@RogueReplicant understandable.
Keith and ron’ s weaving was ‘unique’ as always at Houston. Keith totally fucked the opening of start me up ( again). Beast of burden was interesting . Ron had lots of reverb on and I’d say the distortion camouflaged his ball park solos . Surely these can’t be being played by guitarists in the wings!! Troubling, if so 🤣🤣
Right on as usual - very curious now about Keith & Ronnie.
Never seen them - always thought they were so past their prime. Who knew they would last so long?
Even so, the itch remains and really tempted to grab the cheapest seat for Phx next Tues.
yikes just got a $63 ticket in the gods - that's what a bottle of red will do...
Really enjoyed it But your words rang so true for Start Me Up and Miss You Ugh Also a horrible She's so cold Who liked that in the first place? - Mick's dad joke for AZ. They did add Monkey Man which went down well. No longer a hot ticket here - maybe three quarters full
@@surpriseeddy8862 What in the hell, I love "She's so Cold!" Glad you liked the show.
Barry, it would be great to just sit and talk to you about Yes songs and concerts! Haha. Anyway, I went to the tour in 2022 and Yes played No Opportunity Necessary. Clearly they had a backing track for the orchestra part as Steve Howe smiled and did a violin mime during that big orchestra part. Sherwood must have meant no backing vocals or guitar tracks. I'll go listen to the interview.
Love the Tull T. Shout out to the Wilson sisters for coming out and saying they will play it all live. Other acts should follow suit. Live music is better. Bumper stickers should be issued. Peace, love and (live) music!
I love Hand of Fate too.
The Stones have an incredible back catalogue, with so many great options to choose from. It’s disappointing that they’ve done an ultra conservative greatest hits setlist for many years now.
That's the conundrum when you get as big as the Stones, though. Most people who are seeing them these days are probably doing it for the event status of it more than the music (as was stated in the video) and these casual fans are going to want to see the big hits. If they start playing their more obscure songs for the true fans, they'll end up alienating the people who are willing to pay out the ass to see them.
On the point of seeing a “live” act, saw Spocks Beard in Leamington Spa a few years back, definitely live, were interacting with crowd, ( discussion around black pudding) having fun, (at one point turning the drummer into a minion - probably best not to ask ) and seemingly making up at least some of the set list as they went along. A great night for all concerned and I think the true definition of a live experience.
Agree with you, either alter the set list / re-interpret the songs or just stop playing certain songs / stop touring.
i would love to hear Status Quo cover “ I’ve seen all good people “. ( in the style of theirs which chug along -
Dah danna danna danna danna danna danna da-na ) sorry I can’t write music . ❤️🐢ps & The Cure cover “ and you and i “ in their Faith period. that would be formidable & depressing on multiple levels imho
I’m going to see Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks instead of going to Steve Howe’s Yes
I'd choose that route myself.
Can't have YES without Jon Anderson
A surprise, at the Nola Jazzfest The Stones played with Irma Thomas
Turn of the Century, overtones of Medieval poetry set to music. Absolutely love this track. Another of my favourite albums is Olias of Sunhillow, a Jon Anderson work, not Yes but still brilliant
Heart's statement is very much the truth
I gave up large venue tours by old bands years ago, despite them being some of my all time favourites.
Sunderland on Springsteen’s tour also.
could we get Deep Purple setlist?
I like your options choices for Stones songs. I completely agree. A boring af playlist. I gave up seeing them post 2005. Cheers
I saw Queens of the Stone Age recently and something that Josh Homme did kind of piqued my curiosity. He told the audience that the band was not there to play what they (the band) wanted to play, but to play what the audience wanted the band to play. Then, he started asking the audience to shout out requests. Apparently, the requests came down to two songs, of which he picked one to play. However, the light show was perfectly synced up with this apparent spontaneous audience request, which made me question whether there was any actual spontaneity going on. I suppose QOTSA could have numerous lighting sequences programmed into their lights setup that the stage manager selects based on what Josh says the audience wants. At least it was all played live.
Was the song requested Go with the Flow?
Speaking of the stones , be interested on your opinion of black and blue , love all the early classic albums but have a soft spot for this one , to the dismay of my mates
Memory Motel and 2000 Man would be great for them to add. I agree Hand Of Fate. Jigsaw Puzzel. It's all a dream for the true fans.
I was thinking they played "2000 Man" in '89, but then I started thinking no, it was "2000 Light Years from Home." And I can't be bothered to look it up, but either one would be good, TSMR is a very underrated album, for the Stones and for psychedelic rock in general.
SERIOUSLY doubt that Keith & Ronnie would do any guitar part miming.
I believe (rock & roll) old age is harder on vocal cords than it is on finger muscles.
AND if they're resuming what I (right or wrong) perceive to be their usual spontaneous live guitar part interactions on this tour - the coordination w/ anyone "behind the curtain" to NOT look like they were miming would be a difficult challenge.
I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
I wish they played Dead Flowers; which is a very underrated song from the Sticky Figers Album.
One thing I've heard is that the bands that do play live but they slow down the song as it's too hard to play as they did decades ago. I've heard Steve Howe is guilty of this. Current Yes only has Howe and Downs as members form the classic era. Not really Yes, is it?
Hi given that some legacy acts charge the earth and are possibly miming , what are your opinions on
tribute bands ?
The Rolling Stones could easily play a 5 hour show containing nothing but iconic songs. When you have that kind of depth to your library, it's tough t decide what to leave out of a show. Yes, they do surprise with the occasional deep cut. That's a good thing. But deep cuts not what the vast majority of concert goers care about. They've learned, as has McCartney, that you simply must play the hits. And, for the most part, they do.
see youtube vid of The Tubes white punks on dope at Leeds (Brudenell Club) 2015. Awesome.
I’ve only a “patchy” acquaintance with Yes’s various albums but I have the definite impression there’s a lot of “less than straightforward elements” to their music so “nailing” those elements in a live performance must be commended - whereas - by contrast - a band like Status Quo - well - rendering the ol’ 3 chords live must amount to the proverbial “money for ol’ rope”, I imagine ……
As per your other video - lots of artistes voices have gone (see Ian Anderson for one). He can still play that flute but really time to get another singer. Or should these classic bands stop touring? It's hard because they can still do a good show. I know Roger Waters has some backing tracks for the harder to sing lines now; that doesn't take away from the spectacle or the quality of the musicians. Heart may play everything live, but we walked out after 3 tracks when we saw them because they couldn't sing in tune. Not an easy question to answer.
Is there a smaller band that sounds like Yes? Is there a little local band that can do a full Pink Floyd show?
You be suprised, the Stones come to Orlando in June. No way I am going to spend a lot of money for this and if I cant spend a lot of money why would I spend ANY money when I can see it on UA-cam. ??
Far from having any place to talk about mining / lip syncing versus being absolutely live, I've got this to leave here. The main reason why these legacy groups still exist and tour is that rock music stopped evolving when the grunge movement came and went after the grunge movement came and went, that's when EDM suddenly swept the board and redefine mainstream pop music as strictly being a hackneyed dance medium where everyone who actually sells records and concert tickets is essentially an N 'Sync / Backstreet Boys / Destiny's Child / Toni Braxton Also Ran. And upload them exclusively to the internet instead of putting them on CD, since I'm not made of money to have them pressed on to CDs and don't have a band however, I'm still trying to do what should be happening in the music world to begin with, trying to make new music in the template of these other bands that are mentioned here.
I'm glad Heart won't be miming because I'm seeing them in October.
The Stones have an entire accompaniment of musicians and vocalists out on stage with them. It's basically Ronnie, Richards and Jagger out front then they have their drummer, a bassist and a great keyboard player, another guitarist who is standing by Richards, I'm sure I saw someone else in the videos of the show I've seen.
I was questioning if Richards and Ronnie were even turned up, one song I saw Richards and the other guest guitarist walk up in front of him to play with him, suddenly a new guitar could be heard and it was sort of out of tune and Richard's hands kind of matched the notes. When Richards came up to sing "Little T & A", his mic was not even on. It was turned up when he started and was turned down a bit so you could barely hear his voice over the music.
These guys are what, 80???
All I kept thinking was our president is 80.
And picturing old Joe up there dancing around like Jagger was just too impossible to imagine.
The lesson?
The Stones have done their share of drinking.
The Stones have done their share of drugs.
The Stones have done their share of all sorts of shenanigans.
And they can hop around for 2 hours at 80 years old.
Old Joe has been a liar, a crook, a basically bad human being for the last 40 years.
Being corrupt takes more out of you than drugs, alcohol and women.
Great Yes setlist, too bad it’s not played by Yes
I don't think Yes are coming to Oz this time. I do so hope they record a concert from this tour, I'll be first in the queue to buy it. Jon Davison will do an excellent job with Tales. When you look at songs he did with Glass Hammer like If The Sun, I would think TFTO would be right up his street.
"When did miming/lip syncing become acceptable?"
Because all of these legacy acts have watched two generations now of "pop stars" faking entire shows and their young audiences not caring.
They would laugh you out of Jazzfest if you tried to fake it. Stones can't fake it. They aren't wired like that.
We've gotten to the point where it would be quicker to list the legacy bands that ARE playing live! lol
The Stones could farm Beatles covers like 'Let it Be' and I'd still tune in. Oh, wait...
Springsteen definitely live but stale. I am seeing them again in Canada later this year. Still great but I feel he plays too much from bitusa when in europe
I'd rather see a tribute band playing live, than the original band miming (even if only in part). A lot cheaper too.
I could not agree more with you. Depending on the quality of the tribute band a lot of them perform the hit stuff better than the original bands. That is what they aim for as opposed to the original band that is unable to replicate studio productions live and then expecting the audience to give them a free pass for a second rate performance. I can't stand U2 but even they got it right with the line "even better than the real thing".
