I’ve been through FLETC Active Shooter Instructor Training Course. It’s very high stress. The last course was Solo LEO clearing. There were 50 role players. With flash bangs, smoke grenades and simulation guns. It was very intense. This was 12 years ago. We were taught that if you’re the first officer on scene, it’s your duty to stop the threat.

Well, hopefully those tax dollars aren't wasted.
My personal assessment of the Uvalde incident - would have resulted in the removal of leadership, I would have ordered a complete audit of the money spent on training the officers - and launched a case against any discrepancies found.
We introduced armed police in our schools, and gave up gun rights in the hopes that police officers could protect our students.
It's not been a successful campaign, and audits, layoffs, and restructuring needs to be implemented.
After 25 years of fighting school shooters, and active shooter threats their is simply no excuses.
The army taught me that 0 casualties is the only acceptable number
If you want to be paid to defend out children, you'd better do it. No excuses, and you should be prepared for all threats. No police officer should feel like a sitting duck, but instead a warrior ready to defend children.
No more compromises on gun laws, from me. If the police fail to stop school shootings the veteran community will do it for you & remove armed police from the schools - county by county.

That department had plenty of training. It’s a bunch of keystone cops that have no legal obligation to put themselves in harms way to save people. Until cops are required to put their lives on the line when required to do the job nothing will change. They need the same oath and level of training that military police do.

@@ericclaptonsrobotpilot7276 Your statement makes 0 sense. Law enforcement is required by nature to do their job regardless of the risk to their own life. Hands down no one knows what they’re going to react until they get shot at hands down. That’s why departments need to seriously invest on force on force training. I’ve seen it in the military myself working with military police for 2+ years. I do however agree that the few who simply refuse to act and or cannot act need to be removed or punished.

Is literally *EVERY* cop corrupt? Well, no, but I do find it funny cop bootlickers never see a problem with how it's always the good cops that are getting punished, threatened, & fired, and not the actual cops that are corrupt.

First of all thank you for going through the extra training.
Respectfully I would say the problem is exactly the opposite. If you get paid for trainings, everybody and their mother will sign up, check the box, take the money, and go on pretending to work without learning anything from these safe simulations. Case in point: that's what already happens. I know.
The LE employee who wants to go to these trainings should DEMONSTRATE they are willing to put their LIFE on the line. Money should not be an obstacle. It should be a sacrifice, not a reward. LE talks about warrior mindset, so prove it.

Obviously it's only the security team that engages with a shooter but they wanted us to know what our role should be if an incident ever occurred. A lot of it was confidence building and learning to act quickly without hesitation. Worthwhile training, I think its a good idea.

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. Police response to an active shooter is never going to be the most effective method of saving lives. Shootings happen in seconds and even if police do everything right they are minutes away. The ultimate solution has to be in prevention.
In the particular case of Uvalde it will be the shooters access to guns, and the school response to an active shooter situation. Last I read, the shooter was shooting just outside the school fence line for up to 10 min, including at the school. The instructor is correct, these kinds of training have to be done regularly to create muscle memory & mental toughness. Uvalde was a sleepy town. Maybe their law enforcers treated this training as just another trophy or certificate on their wall. You guys are paid good money to SERVE & PROTECT! We didn't see you" line up ready to be piled up till the shooter was neutralised". When there is an active shooter especially in a school for small children, rules of engagement & chain on command should be thrown out the window till the shooter is NEUTRALISED!

sub-par in reaction time and or effective effort. You will always have that one guy or two that are on the team that hesitate or are scared that want others to go first or slow down on purpose acting like he was there but was just waiting on the order to do something or render aid. Unfortunately you don’t know until you get into the situation in question if you have some men of iron will or men filled full of popcorn. I work armed security and we have one guy that gets calls for assistance but always arrives after the situation is over or was still en route or doesn’t escort someon off property then they break in to someone’s car and he always tries to find a way to blame it on others.
