- A drivers eye view on the great orme tramway in Llandudno wales part 1 is filmed from the front but part 2 from further behing as I could not get a seat at the front filmed in 2005 on a mini DV camera and transferd to PC this week now I have the equipment to do this.
There is one double-ended cable that connects both trams via the winder at the top, so on the lower section before the crossing-point there is only a single cable running in the conduit beneath the track. But on the top section both ends of the cable are always present. The interlaced double track is for the two ends of the cable to run side by side, so they do not get tangled.
We park our car at the summit. Then catch a tram down to Llandudno, it's great . Also Llandudno is a lovely place.
Done this trip last week, great trip, great vid.
Great video.
What is the point of having that last section of track with two lines when nothing can pass? Wouldn't it have been quicker and easier to just put down a single track?
This is in Wales? For some reason I thought it was the isle of man lol
If you visiy LLANDUDNO,don't miss a ride on the tram way !
Masked Avenger, what are you replying to?
Masked avenger ok sorted. It now
At 6 pound return for a ride on this great 110 year old tramway it's very good value.
Little San Francisco
Cheaper by car and see the same scenery.
Philistine!
@@peterhunt2723.Motorcycle is much better than car or tram & less expensive .If the tram went any slower it would be going backwards .
Masked Avenger think my motorcycle days are over, I'm 80 now! You miss the point though, it's interesting riding on something on something approaching 120 years old and you don't have to watch the road you can just concentrate on the scenic aspect. I first rode this in 1957!
@@peterhunt2723 A cable car would get more height & give a better view .I rode one of the last tramcars in Liverpool in 1957 I was three & a half years old but it was a double deck & much faster than that one on the Orme .I am nearly 68 & I ride motorcycles & also see 80 year olds riding 1200 adventure motorcycles & there are even older riders .Your never too old ,get yourself a nice motorcycle & ride around Snowdonia & the Great Orme ,taking it slowly at 40 - 50 mph taking in the sights. After that you could shoot down to Bwets y Coed take the A5 towards Llangollen up the Horseshoe pass to the Ponderosa cafe for a coffee & a smoke ,
Masked Avenger whilst I would love to do that I am restricted physically due to a severe Thyroid condition however Bettws and surrounding areas are very familiar, I have been going from Nottingham to North Wales for over 60 years and with my wife for over 50. The narrow gauge railways are a big favourite and we hope to go again soon!
