Personally, I think they balanced out things that were legitimately unfair in the previous games. Post-game dungeon was only three floors but the Muskoid and Thunder Spawn battles were absolutely deadly. They made Resting cheaper because the game requires you to do it more often (Level requirements for skills). Post-game boss wasn't as hard because you're supposed to kill it 9 x "# of party members" in order to max out weapons. Mazes were only 3 floors, but they included a lot of mini dungeons.
Actually no, this is New Etrian Odyssey or whatever they'll localize it as. It's a much needed remake of EO1 with a greater emphasis on actually telling the story. Your characters now have defined identities and reasons for exploring the labyrinth, but their jobs and abilities are entirely determined by how you choose to spend their skill points. EO's 2 Gunner class will also be featured as an option. After 4's massive skill tree improvements, 1 really does benefit from this remake.
It's nice seeing characters animated. Still the main thing I'm waiting for is hearing voice clips of Ren and Tlachtga. Would be nice if the game gets a U.S. release.

I think maybe you spent too long grinding or something. If you just go through without deliberately grinding, it tends to stay pretty challenging. But yeah, an expert mode for people who want it even harder is cool.

4 is not hard, it is by far the easiest in the series. And if normal mode is too hard, there is an easy mode. If you want hard you should play the 2nd game.

わざわざ「新」と銘打ったのだから、本来の世界樹と別筋というのはアトラスも理解して作っているだろう。プレイヤーの間口を広げないと、既存ファンだけだとどのジャンルも先細るだけだし。今はとにかく発売を楽しみにしている。
